And involve the same people. I usually don't touch them either, though they are pretty sane now that most of the usual suspects are blocked :P

I wish i could just blow a raspberry on those threads when someone gets stupid. Good enough for Sera, good enough for me :P

That's what this is for...

Or there's always gifs. Can never go wrong with gifs.

EDIT: right one this time

Turns out you can go wrong with gifs.

You realise those faceless horned giants are still good people, potentially friends to the people who know them right? It's amazing how little it takes to turn people into monsters.

Yes, but to me, they're faceless horned giants, nothing more.

It's not about despising them, it's not about the greater good.

It's the old thing - it's easier for someone to sacrifice people they never met, thus "have no face"

What level were you per chance?

I'm grinding my way through so that my gear can keep up although stumbling on Enhanced Twin Fangs Ring has made life much easier.

lvl8...

It could've been two tanks, on which I spammed Barrier, whenever it was up. Rest of the time, Energy Barrage with a fire staff for the win.

It's what they believe that makes me file them under 'enemies' instead of allies.  The enemy of my enemy is simply that. Qun makes me vibrate with rage, it's a personal thing :/

'Tis my opinion.

That said, if I was willing to sacrifice the Chargers on the first playthrough (I just couldn't...), the alliance with a major naval power is worth it. Between two "faceless" groups, the dreadnought would take priority.

Not to mention that due to my previous life experiences, friends take a priority. I just can't really help it. It's just so deep under my skin now.

Bah, why are we even discussing this. I admit, it's rather selfish of me to sacrifice hundreds of sailors and an entire ship instead of a group of about half a dozen. But it's who I am.

Plus, they would hurt Sera. That's extra points lost.

...I think Sera's real name is Eris. At least she spreads chaos upon all who gaze upon her (or think about her). This thread is all the proof needed. :P

Yeah, because being born into a different political circumstance is a solid justification for letting someone die.

I question why you were trying to forge an alliance with the Qunari in the first place. Unless your plan was always to trick the dreadnought into killing the target then leave it to die weakening both. In which case, hats off I guess?

'Tis my opinion.

People always say this like it frees them of responsibility for it.

I know right. Works every time!

But come on. They would leash Merrill, cut her tongue out, and treat her no better than a thing, a thing they hate with every fiber of their being, no less.

They would turn Sera into a mindless husk, and treat her only a little better due to the whole "You are merely a Bas, not a Bas Saarebas. You may scrub this floor without a leash on."

From my other buddies, they would treat Dorian no better than Merrill, maybe even worse, because Tevinter. Alistair would probably end up Creators-know-what, with all the Saar-qamek and stuff. Leliana, Cass, Cullen (yeah, I like him more now that he's on the team), and many others would probably end up dead.

The only one of my buddies who wouldn't mind would be The Iron Bull. And Sten/Arishok. The second I'm not sure I CAN count among my buddies.

That's the majority of the characters I like, either dead or pretty much losing their mind to Qunari bollocks.

When that political/ideological circumstance is diametrically opposed to mine and makes no secret of wanting to force itself upon everyone, then i can't really see how i could call its supporters anything but enemies.  Having no living enemies whenever possible is just good policy.

...And yes, it was a nice 'two birds, one stone' trick. Also got the Bull away from that bunch that way :D

This is OT AS HELL but I make no apologies.

Yeah, because being born into a different political circumstance is a solid justification for letting someone die.

You could say the same thing about Corypheus. He's just as much a product of his environment and experiences as anyone, including the Qunari. Also much like the Qunari, he desires to conquer Thedas. Unlike the Qunari, it is unclear whether his rule would be truly totalitarian. Maybe he just wants Thedosians' unfailing worship and would let them choose their own careers and allow them some measure of control over their family life.

(fine, I'll give them the benefit of the doubt and say that these people probably wouldn't cause nearly as much as misery as Corypheus to Thedas if they survived the quest)

(if only because they're not that poweful)

(FINE, they probably don't suck that much)

(but I still don't think they're great)

I question why you were trying to forge an alliance with the Qunari in the first place. Unless your plan was always to trick the dreadnought into killing the target then leave it to die weakening both. In which case, hats off I guess?

Well, I had an idea something like this might happen. The only reason I even let Bull join the party was because I assumed he'd be able to leave the Qunari eventually, given what I'd read about him promotional material. I am guilty of metagaming. Having completed the game, I have to say, it wasn't a safe bet that every companion would have an actual character arc, but I'm pleased Bull did. I do wish Bioware would stop writing companions I don't think it's sensible to recruit, but whatever. (Bull wasn't nearly as bad as Zevran, though, and I actually do think he made enough of a case in his recruitment mission for my Tal-Vashoth to let him join)

Actually, wouldn't they just immediately kill the mage companions for being raised outside the Qun? Speaking  of being born into a different political circumstance being a solid justification for letting someone die.

Hard just feels like the "oh, by the way, we have tac cam and you should probably use it and also crafting" setting to me. Like, I imagine if I had tried to start playing on Hard, I would have had problems, because it takes me awhile to get all the game systems down, but so far it's a lot easier than I feared.

...I am back to having appropriate level of fear towards Nightmare though.

I love it when I am switching to Sera in battle and she's paused in some ridiculous position like this.

*somersault snip*

No criticism of folk who like to play on lower levels, but for me it wouldn't feel like DA if I weren't pausing and issuing orders. Another reason I take so long to get through games. Once I caught sera in mid leaping shot. It was pretty epic.

I think that's the bit I was looking for. At least tell me the name, pretty please!

But come on. They would(...)

I'm not arguing the Qunari are good or right. I'm arguing that saving a bunch of soldiers over a very large ship under your protection isn't taking the morale high ground.

You could say the same thing about Corypheus.

You could, but fighting Corypheus is your goal.

If you want to make fighting the Qunari your goal, that's fine, go for it - though as before I'm not sure taking that quest makes sense. But when the choice is about saving this group of soliders or that group of soliders - both of which are on your side - one shouldn't be worth less than the other because their politics is different.

If you want to frame it as taking the opportunity to hurt the Qunari then I guess it makes sense, but I'm looking at it from the perspective of things have gone bad, who can I save? Though I'd suggest the former is a best vindictive.
