Wait. Uncle, where'd you get the legs for Sera's armor?

I think that's the bit I was looking for. At least tell me the name, pretty please!

I'm not 100% sure, but judging from where I am in the game, I think what she's wearing there is all bought from the armour shop in Redcliffe. A masterwork hunter armour and some form of hunter arms and legs if memory serves. Sadly if that's the case it's not crafted. If you ask me tonight on Origin I'll have a look and see if I have a save from around then. Pretty sure that I must.

Gave me another warning point!

So, Poodle misbehaved?

It totally wasn't spam. It was f****** awesome.

A-f***ing-greed!

Thank you, Warden Uncle, but this puts me no further than I already was...

(But I'll take a look in Redcliffe when I get back)

Whoa. Was going to reply to a post and then the internet decided to poop itself... so I come back to make the reply and now the topic has changed, but I must say it anyway.

In response to whoever stated that Sera looks like a cross between a crack head and Gollum... now that is hilarious and all, but it depends on taste and what not. I think she's very attractive... I mean, she's no Isabela or Miranda Lawson, but she's definitely do-able, more so in a "cute" way than an "extremely sexy" kind of look. But that's just me.

I've noticed the Sera hate, usually people don't like how she hates on you if you don't agree with her opinions. Or she's dumb and immature... if there's one thing I've noticed about this game, it's the fact that you can very easily get annoyed with certain characters if you pick a response that they don't agree with. I detested Cassandra at first, but after a while I decided to give her a chance. Now my character and her are good friends... though I must laugh at her accusing my character of flirting when I did no such thing. If only there was a response that said "If I wanted a man, I'd go with Cullen." or something, but anyway.

I liked Solas in the beginning but I seem to do all of the things he doesn't like, so in this situation, he is opinionated. If you're not all into fade spirits and do things he doesn't like, it leads to a little fight. If you disagree with Vivienne straight off the bat she treats you like a piece of turd and it is very hard to win favour with her after that.

Sera is immature. Yes, she certainly is. I put it down to her age, and though many don't like it or can't stand it, I effing love just about everything she says, all of her jokes. She's a complex character... she can be a right ******, but at the same time there's a sensitivity and vulnerability to her. Deep down she is actually quite intelligent, she just doesn't portray it.

Bioware characters are not designed to be "perfect" or to please everybody, obviously. It just makes it that much more realistic, and I say well done. This is why these games are unique and though they may never be as popular as Call of Duty and GTA, at least we have an opportunity to experience a game that has a little more to it than a bit of combat.

In regard to combat, Sera has proven to be a life saver in certain situations. All of my party members died at Mythal and she had to go solo, and though it took about two hours she finally kicked some butt in the end. Well that was on a previous play-through... this time around it shouldn't be so hard. But still, she's handy to have around.

Oh every so often we get people coming in and attacking Sera for her looks and/or voice. They don't tend to stay around long. As to her character, she's clearly designed to be divisive, and as such it's clear that people are going to be split as to whether they like her or not. It's incontrovertible that she has many faults.

Some lesbians are upset that she's quite so flawed as a character, and that she's so anti-Dalish that it can be tough to romance her as a Dalish believer, and that's perfectly reasonable criticism I think given the lack of positive representation that they have in the media in general, but beyond that I think she's an excellent character, love her or loathe her.

On an OT for this thread note, but perhaps slightly related as she's another divisive character:

Well, Isabela and Sera are way more attractive to me. Miranda on the other hand.... hmm, Yvonne Strahovski is a very beautiful woman but the in-game facemodel failed a bit.

Still Isabela and Sera are top for me. Esp Sera's lips, damn.

Ah, subjectivity... I never even romanced Miranda. They're both clearly built to look very conventionally sexy, but Miranda's not my type. Isabela's far more interesting, but it's not really her looks that attract me to her. If we're talking about physical attractiveness alone, I like Liara more in ME, and in DA I find both Morrigan and Leliana more aesthetically appealing than either. In the end though, the looks pale into insignificance next to the characters behind them.

Seriously though, to each their own.

Isabela is one of my favourite characters in the series and one of the reasons I like Sera is that she reminds me a little of my pirate queen.

I think DA:I is the first modern BioWare game where the tech hasn't really held them back. Everyone outside of the aliens looks odd to me. It'd be interesting to see Frostbitten Isabela.

Ah, subjectivity...

Pretty much. Not to mention the whole notion of linear beauty scales is a bit... something.

Not gonna disagree with Liara.   But Jack is my favourite. Those tattoos... mmmm  <3

Jack's kinda scary at first...

But then you realize she's not much older than 20, if even that...

And the amount of sh*t she's been through...

I mean, stolen from her mother by Cerberus, grew up as a "Subject Zero", had pretty much no chance at integrating with normal populace after that, so she became a hardcore criminal...

Wait, I detect a slight similarity.

Sera orphaned at a young age. Not exactly the same, but both lost/never knew their parents early in life.

Sera was taken in by a "Lady Emmald", who was probably alright (truth be told, who knows how much truth Sera says - and I'm not saying she's telling us a lie intentionally, perhaps she believes that), but eventually fell from Sera's grace; Jack grew up in a secret Cerberus facility.

Sera then met a "Red Jenny", who took her in and taught her. While Red Jennies are mostly Robin Hood like - those we know, at least - that can't be always true. Ultimately, they're seen as criminals by the nobles; Jack became a freelancer, not a member of the group, and while not too Robin Hood-ey, she's still a criminal...

Hmm, yeah. They're not extremely different. If Sera was a Mage, they'd be even closer, in fact, as the Galaxy accepts Biotics much more than Thedas Mages, but still distrusts them.

Thinking about it, I think the voice actors have a lot to do with it too. I don't think that Yvonne Strahovski or Victoria Kruger did a bad job, but Ali Hillis, Claudia Black and Corinne Kempa all have something about their voices in the games that makes my knees go weak... With Robyn Addison, it's not that her voice is sexy as such, but it's refreshing having someone in a game who sounds more like people I know.

Well, once the writing is done for a character, the final piece is the voice to bring it all together. If the voice doesn't fit the character, then the character doesn't come across as "real".

The voice really can make or break a character and sometimes it work out amazingly like with Claudia Black and Morrigan.

Yup. I think both her and Corinne Kempa were masterful pieces of casting in Origins. Perfect for their roles. Actually BioWare games tend to be very well cast in general.

The fact that she's Aeryn may have made me a little biased as well.

Did anyone ever look at Corinne Kempa's page on voices pro and listen to her sampler? It's weird to hear Leliana advertising beer and perfume... http://www.voicespro....php?uid=107109

I agree. I used to actually think that a character should be voiced by someone of the same race (ie caucasian characters by a caucasian, asian character by an asian, etc.) - but then came along Ash Williams, and eventually Lanaya, and we both know how the voice fits either... despite not fitting that criteria I originally thought vital.

And, to be honest, I did have a reason to think so before - any game I played before, I could tell what race the actor/actress is. There's... I can't really describe it, but each sounds a little different, IMHO.

No racism, of course. As I said, I was shown the whole thing's wrong when I heard Ash.
