I'm planning on making a rogue Dwarf....can someone give me a good reason for joining Templar/or/Mage ? (beside that I havent seen the Templar side yet) . The only thing that come to mind..is lyrium busness with them . But this isnt ya doing a deal with them..but ya gonna take charge of them..so....why would a dwarf from the carta..smuggler rogue..join them ?

There's a magic hole in the sky, both factions deal with magic, it makes sense to get help from either of them.

Whoever you get, you can conscript them instead of allying with them. That implies that you don't trust them...

But... QTE's? What about the button mashing!?

QTE's are yuck. I mean, Paragon/Renegade Interrupts are ok-ish, as they're not "HURRY UP! CLICK NAO!" and more of a "I'm here, if you wish to click me, and will stay for a couple seconds", but they're still nowhere remotely close to ideal. Heck, for the explanation of a new mechanic in ME2, the first Interrupt actually remains for what, good ten seconds?

Still, I'd prefer like a dialogue wheel where I can pick how I'll react, much like it is now. I mean, it's not like it'd break much immersion from the whole "Gotta be fast!" thing, as you can sit in a dire situation for good half hour before you decide somewhere else in the main quest. People who'd want would simply react as fast as possible, but others could think their reaction through. Much better than they would in real life, too...

I think some Inquisitors would lean more towards going to Redcliffe first.  It seems to be the most FUBAR situation (the Inquisitor doesn't even know that something is going on with the Templars at that point).

If you want a reason to lean towards seeking help with the Templars, one is that it might seem safer to the Inquisitor's well-being to have the Templars weaken the Breach instead of having mages pour more magic into your hand.  It's your hand, right?  What if too much magic...um, blows it off your arm or something...

It's also possible you might seek out the Templars first since it would seem easier/quicker to get their aid (you don't know about the crap that's going on with them).  With the mages, you have to deal with a big mess first.

I don't see this decision so much as siding with mages vs. templars (like DA2)...it's just, who do you think has the best chance of helping you close the Breach.  If you go the templar route, you can disband the order at the end if you like.

The thing about interrupts is that they offered a choice. Push this button or fail isn't a real choice, and it is never interesting. Though the lack of any prompt as to what the interrupt did tended to either be confusing or lead to heavy handed and nonsensical camera work during the prompt.

I've enjoyed timed dialogue in The Wolf Among Us and Alpha Protocol. I'm not sure whether I'd want BioWare to try it.

I agree. Games that rely on QTE's suck huge donkey balls.

Argh QTEs. What a pointless interruption of a good cutscene.

I like games like RE4, Heavy Rain & Beyond:2 Souls that have QTE's. I really disliked the "press in 0.5 seconds or die" version in the latest TR tho

To be fair, I did enjoy Beyond: Two Souls simply because I thought the story was pretty cool and the ending, I thought was beautiful.

I've played both the DW rogue and the archer and have to say i enjoyed the archer more. Even with the constant flying about the map. The rogues stealth move is also your get out of combat free card when you find yourself in over your head.

See, the only thing keeping up from jumping in with an archer is the tendency for them to be relatively underpowered at first; you have to work pretty hard to get them up to speed, at which point they become killer machines.

I reckon I would feel more at home with a DW rogue, but I really, really want to try out the archer, if only to test it out outside controlling Sera and Varric.

Argh QTEs. What a pointless interruption of a good cutscene.

Apparently Sera has her own hidden QTEs in this game. See: Harmond's demise.

Haven't played any of the games you mentioned, "Merrill"...

Unless you indeed mean Tomb Raider 2012 by TR.

I didn't really like the way Iron Bull said "mayhem" but I loved Sera's reaction.

Yeah, the Tomb Raider reboot infuriated me sometimes with its ridiculous QTE sequences, blink & you die

Only thing i disliked more then the QTE's were those "stuck in the waters current" segments, i was so sick of Lara getting a pole through her head

Tomb Raider's QTEs were not working as intended on PC to the best of my knowledge. Most of the QTE complaints came from folks who were playing the PC version.

I played the game on both 360 and Xbox One and for the most part the QTEs were fine, IMO.

Well, the keys also felt random.

I often failed a QTE just because it's NOT within my ability to read, realize, and tap the button within HALF A F...ING SECOND.

The rest of the game wasn't bad, though. Kinda good third person shooter.

Absolutely. My personal GOTY for 2013.

Looking forward to the sequel next fall!
