Considering how some male players call Traynor a "tease" for being what they deem as flirty with their male Shepards, I agree, I think it would lead to distasteful comments about Sera, and there are plenty of ways to show she's friendly or enjoys a male Inquisitor's company without flirting.

I would like to think this all goes down to how Luke writes her. That is, in terms of how significant her sexuality is to her overall character.

If the fact that she is a lesbian isn't emphasized, then I can see teasing/flirting with males happening once or twice. If, however, Sera strongly believes in her preference for women and it is well-reflected on her actions and dialogue, then yeah.. fat chance of that happening again.

Why can't male players learn about Sera's sexuality by witnessing her flirting with Cassandra or Vivienne (I'd like to see that)?

Why is 'male PC flirts with Sera and is turned down cuz lesbian' even necessary?

I'd like to see that too.  :) And I don't think it's necessary, I just thought it might be fun.

I will admit to not really thinking about the can of worms it might open among the crowd who are already hating on her purely because of her sexuality.

We were talking about banter.

?

Edit: You mean Sera banter with the Inquisitor? but my argument stands, unless all straight characters flirt with same gender inquisitor I say, no tks.

I just don't think that Sera is Red Jenny herself. Im sure she's high ranking and have many people working under her.

It seems that the overall theme of companions is that they are people in position of power that lost something, but aren't THE leaders of said organization.

Vivienne lost spot as 1st enchanter. Casandra/Leliana lost their boss/ chantry is in disarray. Cullen is obvious. Sera may have lost most of her squad or may even have a demotion? Maybe that village we see burnt down was the 'playground' she was responsible for?

Here being red Jenny will remove the myster. I'm pretty sure they'll be a staple in DA games.

I went with the "Dread Roberts" theory for the FotRJ.  "Red Jenny" being more a title than a person, something that's earned or inherited in some way.  <shrug>

Besides, even if the theory of Sera=Red Jenny is true, that doesn't mean we'll be privy to all of the secrets of the group.  Even with a dozen spiced caramel apple martinis. :P

Sera teasing/flirting with men is, in my opinion a horrible idea and something I hope doesn't happen. Not that lesbians can't flirt with men. It's more that this is our first real lesbian companion character and it just leads to to many straight guys  using that as proof that oh, Sera isn't a real lesbian and other crap like that.

That quote cane about from me quoting someone saying that Sera should say something along the lines of what Isabela said  to Aveline. I said that I hoped she makes a nod to that when romancing the female Inquisitor.

Yeah and I'm not getting on your case or anything :)

I just think it's an interesting little example to illustrate the kind of things Maria was concerned about...I think people were missing the point and thought she wanted Sera to exclaim she's 'gay' every so often.

I just know if I were writing for Sera's character, I would think a scene were Sera flirts with Cassandra (and gets turned down) would be way more fun than one where the male PC flirts with Sera (and gets turned down).  I probably wouldn't even think to include the latter.  I'm not saying a straight male writer wouldn't do the same as I would here, but it's a concern.

Yup, this is what I would expect as well.

Can't imagine it would be exciting arguing with those people.

I was quoting other user about the concept art, so I do not get what you are saying. That was the tavern artwork with Sera.

One of the reasons I doubt Sera would be Red Jenny is that I can see her spilling important secrets after two spiced caramel apple martinis. I see her as great at *doing* but not so good at planning, organizing, or keeping secret.

I think she'd fall down dead at a dozen ones. :/

She looks about 90 pounds when wet.

Can't blame her though. I'd be inclined to spill a few secrets after two spiced caramel apple martinis.

To be fair, I've met some tiny ladies that could hold their liquor very well.  She still probably wouldn't talk about FotRJ.  I think she would start singing the bawdiest and loudest songs she could until folks just drop the question due to frustration.

Still fun to speculate about though. ;)

I'd probably be asleep by one.  I don't have any alcohol tolerance anymore.   :P

And that tavern concept art is actually a story she's telling about the Inquisitor she's romancing.

Actually the Inquisitor in that artwork is male.

ou2x3c.jpg

The Inquisitor in that concept art is the rogue on the left with the pipe and his boots up on the table. If that art is depicting an actual scene or banter, I don't think it will be romance-specific.

It might also be at Cassandra's expense. Check out her reaction.

I doubt Sera can have a romance in that concept art with the Inquisitor, unless she can travel to parallel universe, since there's obviously a male Inquisitor in that concept :P.

Quite honestly, I think that person was joking about that scene.

Again, I think it was a joke.

That just might be her more advanced version of the "If you stick your thumb up his ass"-joke that was mentioned earlier. Cassandra seems appreciative of Sera's interest in her sex life.

I keep thinking "Red Jenny" is more of a slang term or euphemism for something, than an actual person. Like, you know, when people talk about someone getting a visit from Aunt Flo they don't necessarily mean that person has such aunt...

Perhaps Cassandra was trying to make polite bar conversation and asked Sera what she did last night?

Sera's showing her.

What I want to know is how the FoRJ are connected to the elven underground movement (because there's been some hinting to that) and if we get to stir things up with Sera because god, I've waited so long to kick some butt and reclaim the Dales as the elven homeland and I'd preferably like to do it with my favourite elf in DA:I.

What evidence hints that they are connected?

Yeah, I would like the romance between Sera and Female Inquisitor should be brought up, like in DA 2 where the romance is mentioned between the LI and Hawke.

Mostly the fact that she is part of those circles as well as the FoRJ and and that the Elven uprising happens in the area where you're presumabely meeting her from the info we have so far.
