It is a job.

I only see the metaphor and message being sent here. People like Leliana don't exist or do things on this scale. So I'm more concerned about the underlying message being sent here. What does it say to me, personally? To me, it's really just about jobs. lol

Thats where ya are wrong...

Maybe nowday we dont have Spy..that send crow messages anymore...

But it was done in the past . peoples created revolutions and wanted changes and acceptance and tolerance.....

Peoples worked against tyranny and did stuff that cost them their life...

Arghh..my head hurt..just go check the list of peeps who helped the jew escape camp..and ya tell me there is no such a thing.....

Leliana isn't doing anything like that. She's a hitwoman, more like. She's not like one of the people who help Jews escape. She's more like the Mossad agents AFTER the war, who went hunting people down. It's a necessary job too, but they don't necessarily get lost in it. Some of them only do one job like that their whole life.

So you're saying she's not like Liam Neeson, she's like Liam Neeson?

It isn't that bad of an argument. Does it really bother you that much? I don't feel any tension here at all. :)

I dare that in this case we are talking about a calling more than a job. Both Leliana and Cassandra share the same calling: to protect those who can't protect themselves. Their jobs are diffrent but the core is the same. As is the sacrifice. And they do it willingly, knowing that the calling will burn them to ashes eventually. The jobs they have merely enable them to follow their calling.

It doesnt bother me...

But there is what ya believe..and there is what I experienced.....

If ya just think it..then its just an argument...

But if ya see something 1st hand..it isnt an arguement..its a I SAW ..been there...saw it...so its real..it isnt a 'Nah..doesnt exist'...

I get that alot on alot of different topic...so yeah..believe what ya want..I know what I know....

Cassandra isn't like her at all. Fortunately. She couldn't be at the beck and call fully to Justinia like that, I think. It seems like Justinia had Leliana handle more... detail work.

What do you mean about experience?

Have you done things for the sake of duty that make you a little ill or something?

If you want to talk about experience, I know violence. I used to run in a street gang. I've done some nasty stuff. I like Leliana in DAO because she reminds me of myself when I changed for the better. To see her become worse breaks my heart.

Anyways.. I don't mean to upset you or anything. Just know that this is where I'm coming from. I'm just a fan of hers, like you.

What are we rattling on about now? Do I have to go back several pages to see why a discussion has turned into an argument of which no one can win?

Fair enough.

When I say it's a job, I'm talking about the underlying message being sent to me, as a player. I don't mean that Leliana is merely doing a job. I guess it didn't come out right.

What argument? By BSN standards this is a very civil discussion.

There is a pretty good film based on a real event called Defiance featuring Daniel Craig and Liev Schrieber. It's about these brothers who help Jews evade the Nazis.

I strongly advise watching it, anyone who see's this message.

On the contrary. Cassandra is exactly like Leliana. Devoted to duty, body and soul. And every bit as ruthless. She is even more devoted in ways, as there isn't really anything else in her life besides duty where Leliana at least has old friendships and some hobbies. The diffrence is that she carries out her duties in full uniform and in ways that are mose easy for most people to stomach, though the end result is the same as with Lels methods.

It's the ugly part of history. That means we HAVE to remember it.

Because those who don't learn by history are doomed to repeat it.

I doubt you'd like to repeat that particular bit. So remember... :P

It's not traumatic. Usually I don't like watching traumatic stuff, or things based on actual events like films on the Slave Trade etc. But this was actually really good. It's true, and has a happy ending.

It's really crushing when you have to do things, or try to do things, that are heavy on your soul when you really, really care.. But when you're that kind of person, and you have the responsibility, you have to live up to your calling and be the one to live up to your responsibility, because the fact that you really care means you're going to approach it more seriously and more fairly than other people would, and in the end you give the people whose lives hang in the balance a better chance at getting it right. If you're that kind of person, it *will* weigh on you, and it will stay with you long after, but because of that, you have no choice but to do the best job you can, because that's what will ease your burden, and maybe you were fortunate enough to save some lives in the end, where others wouldn't. ...

But you're also right that you have to be true to yourself, for your health, and for the people whose lives are in your hands.

Duty and devotion come in many forms. I'm more concerned though with what I said when I started this line of discussion: That Leliana isn't taking care of herself. She isn't doing what she wants.

What does she want?
