If she's gay or even bi then she's really bad at it. Exaample:

RPplFvE.png

No actual lesbian has fingernails like that, and I think it should be obvious as to why. That being said, I wouldn't be surprised if this is something the developers probably didn't even think about, it's kind of not readily apparent to a mostly heterosexual team of people. But that's only IF she's bi.

Might be fake :P

I'm opposite of Maria on that. Leliana seemed to be the more appealing option to women, not straight men.

I'm not referring to who she appealed to (and I don't think Maria was either) but rather WHO SHE seemed to like more.

For example, she would be around a 4 or 5 on the Kinsey scale, if that helps my point at all.

Do you think the same about heterosexual romances being portrayed?

No?

I don't either. Because it's just an orientation. And I don't see homosexuality as a major deal either, because it's just an orientation. As a bisexual gamer, I think they're both not too different.

And I don't see anyone clamoring for bisexual representation. Maybe because it's not a big deal. Because none of it's a big deal.

I am not the poster you're responding to, but...

Heterosexual romances and heterosexuality just about saturate our culture. Everywhere you look, there are examples of it. In advertising, on television, in films, walking down the street, in the office or factory. It's not "a big deal" because it's "the default". It's so ubiquitous that most people hardly notice it, and by contrast ANY example of homosexuality stands out.

What I'm saying here is that the only way homosexuality will ever become "not a big deal" is when people stop noticing its presence. That won't happen until it's every bit as ubiquitous as heterosexuality, and not treated as "don't talk about this please it makes me uncomfortable" (not saying that this is your position on it). The only way THAT will happen is with more and better representation. Get people seeing it, they get used to it, it isn't so weird/odd/out-of-place, and suddenly it becomes normal.

I don't even remember what her opening "romance" line was for males. If there was one at all. But it comes off well with females (her "hair" comment).

Male Warden sends her a ****pic and asks if she's "dtf"

No, I'm kidding...I honestly don't know, haha.

As a person who romances Leliana with a male Warden, I find you all incredibly impertinent.

As someone who has never romanced Leliana as a male, I can tell you the first flirt line is in the 'the forbidden fruit is the sweeter, no?' conversation. There's then a second flirt in the 'I always feel safer at night' convo.

It took me way too long to get why Vivienne's fingernails could possibly be related to her being gay, bi or straight. I guess I'm not as worldly as I thought.

IIRC, Leliana does come on more strongly to a female Warden than a Male. At least that's how she was toward my female Warden and my dialogue options.

Then again, DA:O's romances were nothing but very convoluted trial-and-error dialogue paths, most of the time.

Leliana and Morrigan both seem like the most traditional 'appeal to straight men' characters DA has had.

Since then, they've done something different every game with their female love interests. Their male LIs don't feel as varied.

I agree, on both counts.

Is anyone planning on making her DW? I plan on playing a Dalish archer, and another archer would feel redundant :P

I always make Leliana dual-wield daggers and put her up as frontline with the warrior.  Melee Leliana always was more fitting for me.  Likewise, I'm already sure that I will be making Sera dual-wield and be on the frontline with Cassandra (while Vivienne and my Qunari Magess cover ranged damage and healing).

I sort of want to be the frontline dagger wielder myself. Or two handed warrior (not tank). But would love a ranged dps (and not necessarily Varric this time).

I don't think I'll take Cole anywhere. I'm not sold yet at least.

Yep, that's right. It's all very tasteful. No dick pics.

Also, I don't know if it's a mod I've installed, but "What about your fruit..." is available to my male Warden.

Weren't Fenris and Anders' romances written to be very similar by accident?

I think when they say (Female Warden only) next to that line, they mean that option is the only one that starts the romance for females in the conversation.

My observation is that miniorities often see characters and situations as representative in some way. Rather than just seeing the character as an individual. There was an article about how Anders made gay people look like sex predators after DA2 was released. To me a character is just that, a character, a fictional entity in a game. Lesbian characters are nothing new if you play JRPGs (same with practically everything else) so maybe that's why.

The things I don't like about Sera are things that would not change whatever preference they gave her. Panda eyes are universally bad.

I believe they've agreed it wasn't ideal. That was just what happened as the male characters both had rather serious story lines and they didn't think Varric would be appropriate.

Wat.

A 'gay male' started a petition to get David Gaider fired five days after David very publicly told a straight man that if he didn't like gays in his game, DA wasn't for him.
