I think you can crank on casual if your companions can handle the aggro. Varric and Solas wouldn't do a great job of that though, and Cass would have to be speced just right to handle it....still some would skip through.

I had Blackwall, Dorian, and IB on my first casual run and cranked away, but they were better suited for it. Dorian did barriers and Blackwall/IB kept the enemies off my back. Wouldn't work on a harder difficulty though, or with every team, so it's pretty bad advice yes

I think Sera is a better rogue early game than Varric. It's just easier to get her better equipment, plus her AI keeps her away from enemies, while Varric is always running in. He does get better though, and would be fine early on if you make sure to always get the right Bianca upgrades and equip them.

That quest on Nightmare was the only time I brought two mages with me.
Viv specced for fire, Solas for ice, both with Barrier and Energy Barrage while Cass did all the tanking.

For the trebuchet, I had to make a lot of tactical retreats in order to take advantage of one of the few chokepoints to make Cass' job easier while I dealt with the annoying targets like archers and mages.

Luckily however once I got toward the end, Fiona was easy.

LP, did you ever use IB on your nightmare run? Got any tips?

I used him once or twice for just running around trying to get that last bit of xp from fetch quests but nothing serious like Fade Rifts or main quests. He was too squishy for me. I used Cass a lot and Blackwall every now and then whenever I got bored of the same party. To be fair though, neither me or IB were particularly tanky so we wiped straight away.

I found sticking to the same party is critical. Change it up every now and then to hit weaknesses but only for that reason. If you're going to complete it on nightmare, be prepared to sacrifice banter.

Has anyone used IB successfully a lot on Nightmare?? Haha, now this is my personal challenge. I WILL MAKE HIM BETTER. I WILL SLAP IT INTO HIM.

...see this is why I can't do the romance with him. I need to tell HIM what to do.

Cool! I assumed that since IB isn't a good primary tank, that'd be tricky to pull off. Did you not get mobbed at the wheel?

I really need to play with him more, I am sure I'm underestimating his usefulness. Now that I've done a 2H run, maybe I'll be better at working with him. He just died a lot when I used him my first PT.

I don't remember being mobbed, but I just always use spinning blades until I fall over in exhaustion, hehe.

Yeah, speak of your Nightmare run, Poodle.

I shall speak of mine, after.

Anyone knows when Elgar'nan's Bastion over in the Emerald Graves opens up?

I... I don't want to talk about it... I- I... It's too soon.

I wish I knew the answer to this. I crafted him some good armor and I gave him a two-handed axe that's like 300 dps and he still went down last night. I think Cassandra is the best tank in the game to be honest.

I totally ignore my party unless I have to revive them and just focus on dealing damage to my enemies, lol.

I'd die on medium!

You'll want to give Iron Bull combat roll and set it to preferred. This will allow him to dodge dangerous AoE attacks which is what tends to get him killed. Someone made a video of the AI controlled Iron Bull soloing a bear on nightmare through the use of combat roll so it does in fact work. He works best with a rogue with explosive shot for easy knockdowns to maximize the damage of mighty blow.  Block and Slash is a must since its your best defense, which 2h warriors sourly lack. Sometimes you'll want to micromanage Bull when facing tough opponents like 2h bruisers, the correct use of Block and Slash makes such fights easy. The same can be done with S&S' Shield Wall.

I would not use Iron Bulls Reaver spec, the AI can't handle it. At most, just pick the passives, they are quite good.

Having tried 2h warrior and Mage, I have to say I prefer being a Rogue Archer in this game. The class gives me control of the battlefield. I pick out squishy targets and burst them down and provides some CC support for my tank with explosive shots. On nightmare, I am having BY FAR the easiest time with a Rogue Archer. Early game, the most important part of succeeding on nightmare is having enough DPS and being a Rogue yourself solves that problem nicely. Not to mention, when I play a different class I notice immediately my lack of stealth. Not having a good way to drop aggro on yourself makes playing other classes a bit painful.

Thanks, I will try that next time I fire up the game! Ugh, I wanna play so bad after all our combat talk here, but my apartment complex is having fire drills and inspections all day, so I'm stuck at a play cafe and....I suppose I could play dragon age here but....well...theoretically I should be keeping an eye on my kid but...he's fine.....

The rest of that conversation is pretty good too.

Sera: I just figured she was a ginger.

Cassandra: She was.

Sera: Oh. There you go then!

Hmm, good suggestion. I'll check his specs and see if it's there. If not it's going in!

It's because it's more like a chess match than a final battle.

You've manouvred him into a last desperate act, he's overly weak, and you get to cry "Checkmate!" and knock him over.

Or it's like an actual war, which is interesting.

It's a problem with anything involving strategy, however Inquisition doesn't have any actual strategy gameplay in it, so you get no satisfaction from beating Cory into submissions 2/3rds of the way through the story.

I was expecting more strategical war choices from the war table. Don't get me wrong, I enjoyed it, but I thought there would be more of that there.

I have to say, I'm going off the Sera + Qunari romance. It's the horns. I get she likes Qunari, but I just don't like it. I'm gonna go with Iron Bull with my Qunari. Much better match. I'd have to push for a Qunari without horns for me to feel comfortable doing Sera's romance with a Qunari.

Ugh. I need Sera in real life.

I just found out one professor's sole purpose is to make me incredibly angry.

F-wit has only one exam before the end of the semester. ONE... EFFING... EXAM... Then two more, but those are AFTER the semester ends. So, yeah. The first is full already, and the other two mean trouble regardless of anything.

What does that mean? You have to go in to do the exam during your holiday break?
