it depends on how you rpg your human noble. All of mine are poc because that's what I identify with. He tried to justify it by pointing to the conditions of other folk in Ferelden...alienages and things of that nature.

if a person starts off trying to point out a flaw with you but only when you call them out on THEIR bs, that's a problem. it means they don't want to accept responsibility for their part in whatever. Saying something like "pshhh I never thought about it"...it just doesn't fit and it doesn't sit well with me. Especially since he's all rah rah about how the Tevinter imperium operates but this one thing...you never thought about it? But this is because of how I feel IRL. I don't really know how well poc are even treated in Thedas because the only area I know that has them there is Rivain and I know nothing about that area except that's Izzy's homeland and that one circle got anulled there. Actually you don't even actively see poc(ser barris, mother giselle, viv...and your character if you choose? that it?). That's an entirely diff issue. And I get that slavery there is not just relagated to one group. I get that. I just don't like that answer he gave me. And I never will.

Leli is my waifu and I went IN on her for that jacked off way of thinking she had about elves. She didn't disapprove. She acknowledged her ignorance and grew. This man gets defensive. Bruh...miss me wit alla dat.

There are a bunch of poc npc's in the game. Or are you talking about important npc's ?

My reading of that Dorian scene is that it was initially written when the player character was human noble only, and they didn't realize how it doesn't really work with any other character.

 

Dorian is on the defensive, talking about his homeland, and wanting to see the best of it. A human noble acting self righteous and extremely judgy there would be somewhat hypocritical, because while there isn't slavery in the free marches, there are REALLY crappy things like alienages and refugee camps and places like Darktown in kirkwall, and Trev should probably shouldn't throw stones while living in a glass house, ya know, because they are also benefiting from their privilege and the exploitation of others. Obviously Tevinter is worse, but nobility in Free Marches and Fereldan and Orlais absolutely benefit from the subjugation of the lower classes. Like, it's still a privileged twit thing to say (and Dorian is one, that's his huge flaw...liek it's notable that he never even thought to ask a slave how their life was before he left Tevinter, because it was Just How Things Were), but I think...when viewed in that lens, it's less of a 'TEVINTER SLAVERY IS OK' and more of a "yeah it sucks but come on like you also suck, so dont get too high and mighty on me" 

 

When he's saying it to an elf or a dwarf or even a qunari tho, it's like. Bro? 

Hummm...

 

But for all we know...a human noble could be against the crappy system in thedas and the free marches . She could be like cousland..where she doesnt take any servant and they are treated welll....

 

So not cose ya play a human noble mean..ya agree with the system . Ya could be a faithful chantry person and wanna do good....still .

I'm not going to defend his attitude in that conversation. I took it the same way veeia did but I can see why that won't fly with you. I will say that there's a banter he has with Cassandra where he's angling to find something that they have in common. He talks about them both hating their families and I'm pretty sure that his being slave-owners is part of the list of their faults that he gives. That or Cass says it and he agrees...

People from Birmingham don't sound like Alix, well not unless they went to a posh school. Also British people with Asian heritage know very well that the stuff you get in a Balti house is not authentically Indian. It's some of us whiteys who don't....

I'm playing as a elf this time around who's going to romance Josephine.

But Najma Adaar, my Qunari Warrior, is going to be romancing Sera.

I think Sera's great. I love the fact that she petty, naive, frustrating at times as well as being sweet, vulnerable and kick arse. And funny.

The only time I think I got annoyed at her was the reaction to Quizzy drinking from the well (a test to see if there was a difference with OGB). But it was so in character. And my Quizzy didn't stay made with her for long!

Well acted and written.
