It the right thing to do...when someone is poor does it matter if he has pointy ear?
It depends whether you want to actually address the underlying problem or not. But it is certainly not wrong.

Are we having a nature VS nurture debate in the Sera thread? Woah...
You can say the culture, society, religion, etc. you were born into doesn't affect who you are, but that is only true to an extent.
We exist within a culture/society/religion and it's going to influence us, whether we embrace it, reject it or combination or make something else up. You like the system? You embrace it. You don't like it? You reject it/try to change it/grumble and put up with it. There are different reactions possible that are up to you, but the catalyst is the same.

Indeed, it shows in their banters.
I luv Sera and Cass, really. I just love how fond of each other they become later on.
Yep.. it pushes Sera as my core Rogue really. Varric and Cole are cool, but I like Cass and Sera together.
Oh by the way. Page 1800!

Almost every complex issue that is presented as a dichotomy actually isn't. Wouldn't it be lovely if our politicians learned that? ![]()

Lie beneath something else, but it can also mean the cause of something.
Elves and humans might both be poor and oppressed, and Sera might be able to help with that by treating them the same, but if you want to help people in the long run you need to fix the things that are actually causing them harm.
Elves face issues that humans don't and you need to fix those separately.
Oh by the way. Page 1800!

People could just stop electing the politicians who are wrong.

They're just putting it in simple terms for us unenlightened, unwashed masses. It's not like anyone can learn this stuff. ![]()

My so called culture amounted to hamburgers, punk rock... And video games, of course. ![]()
I found religion later on.. That's more about self-discovery, imo.. than it is culture.

Not in the UK...
Not in the UK...
28 for the UK, right? Or rather 27 since we're now on page 1801.
Not in the UK...
Well not in anywhere except New Zealand, but that's everyone else's fault for taking so long.

And a hundred... Well that's for full equal representation. It was ten years earlier that some women got the vote
I used the mod which changes the skyhold outfit....

This. This here is what I was trying to say. Thanks Cat
I respect what's being said here...
But it's so.... not sure how to put it... it's irrelevant to many people. I am not kidding when I say I have little culture. Not everyone grows up with a religion or culture. I went to church ONCE when I was like 7. Told my dad it sucked.. that was the end of it. It was until my late teens that found an interest my own. As for culture, my mother is from Thailand. I never met any of that family. Dad is American, with Scandinavian heritage. But my grandparents lived almost a thousand miles away. The best I had to grow up was just my parents. And they were just two people who fell in love. Two individuals. Nothing more. And this is the reality for others too. They don't grow up with all this other baggage.

But you grew up surrounded by the TV, ads, shops, movies, foods, scenery... Everything that made where you lived where you lived. You speak English. All of that is cultural baggage that has shaped you to a degree, however much you may like to think otherwise..
Morning lovelies. Goodness, reading lore theories about the black city is making my head spin, but it sure is fascinating!

'Culture' is something of a catch all term here. You say you have little culture, but I don't think we mean the same thing.
Example: On one street, there are giant posters of women and men dressed in only underwear for an advertisement. That says my culture is tolerant of showing skin. I may or may not agree with this. If I agree? I just go with it. I disagree? I avert my eyes/protest it/shake my head/etc. Either way I am affected by my culture. My reaction determines whether I 'fit in' or not.
'Culture' doesn't necessarily mean 'upper class stuff'.

I knew you didn't mean upper class stuff. I thought you meant heritage... especially since we were talking about the "past". If you mean prevailing norms, I don't know where I fall. I have an intuitive sense on when not to be a dork. The culture part is probably playing out in my subconscious ![]()
Pop culture was something I looked to at times for guidance. Being mixed race, I had little role models in the racial sense Very confused growing up. I always perked up when seeing people in movies/tv shows that were the same. Keanu Reeves, for one example. Now kids see mixed race everywhere, which is cool.
