Oh. I thought Vivienne had been confirmed as hetero, so I was really unsure of what character we were talking about.
Is she really? Because it puzzles me. As a guy (and I don't presume to speak for all), I don't see what they're trying to appeal to. She's pretty, but that's it. To me, her whole "world" of social manuevering, ballrooms, and elegance seems like it'd have more female fans.

That new picture of her from behind is from Facebook btw, they just added some. I wonder why they like showing Ironbull's back so much...

Vivienne and Sera have had a lot of mixed reactions overall. Some people love them, some people hate them. Vivienne's design doesn't speak for either gender, I don't think, since everyone has different perceptions of what's attractive and what's unattractive.

We don't even know that much about her character, she could be extremely appealing to a lot of people.

Maybe as a self insert.
It is the Orlesian equlivent of a bad ass CEO babe kicking butt and taking names and not one single hetero male is attracted to that? I find that hard to believe.
(I suspect some people might need to take a deeper think on what might be turning them off to Vivienne because it certainly isn't her lacking in the pretty department)

I'm sure there are guys like this, but the whole "power couple" way of approaching relationships has never been a fantasy of mine at least. And I'm sure the guys who do think like that are too busy for games like this.

I'm sure it's just leftovers from E3.
Also, apparently Sera somehow looks like Leliana:

Or does she? ![]()

Even though we only see her behind
Well I must admit the room suddenly got really hot when I saw that photo at least I think it was the room.
Edit: damn why can't I get smiley faces to work?

It really isn't hard to be turned off by the whole Orlesian politics.

IDK, guys seemed to like MIranda a lot from ME2 and Viv has a similar vibe in some things.

A lot of people (and by people I mean **** heads) have expressed they are uninterested for racist reasons, and to that I have absolutely zero sympathy.
If it's for other actual reasons, like you don't get along with her personality that is different, but we don't even know her personality just yet. That scathing sample letter she wrote to that diplomat was pretty awesome, so I'm definitely on board for getting to know her better.

Perhaps you're right. Something to think about..
I can't stand her myself. I was a Jack fan.

As a Miranda fan I don't really see a great deal of similarities.

Both are driven and ambitious.
Take pride in their abilities/accomplishments (which is why Vivienne wasn't content with just being a 'glorified' court jester for Celene).
A taste for the finer things in life
Prefer form to function (combat heels anyone?)
These are off the top of my head. They won't be the exact same character, of course.

I kinda do. The need for perfection and control. The need for controling others (I love Miri, don't take me wrong). I see some of the vibes there.
Also, the all white. I don't see Vivi having those moments of humanizing self doubt about HERSELF (maybe with other things, but never herself)...
I can dig it.

Ugh. I'll just say that I'll be pissed that that's the main idea of what males like. It's not even trying.
She might as well be an alien from another planet.
But then, I'm just an unremarkable punk from Texas, who's never even owned a suit. ![]()

Sera teasing/flirting with men is, in my opinion a horrible idea and something I hope doesn't happen. Not that lesbians can't flirt with men. It's more that this is our first real lesbian companion character and it just leads to to many straight guys using that as proof that oh, Sera isn't a real lesbian and other crap like that.
Just looking through the thread and this caught my eye. I really hope Sera won't be portrayed as a 'tease' for men like Samantha in ME3 in large part was.
It would look like how television handles lesbian characters. Just recently 6th TV show since December introduced "lesbian sleeping with a man" trope. In general, overwhelming majority of shows and movies that are not aimed specifically at lesbian audience and have such character, do it (not only making lesbian characters sleep with men, but very often also making them look like they enjoy it), or at very least, insinuate in some other way that the lesbian character isn't so completely uninterested sexually in men.
Of course, it has everything to do with sexist and lesbophobic mentality regarding lesbian women - that we're not really gay like gay men, that we just need d**k, can be "turned" since we probably "became" lesbians because of some issues with men on the first place. Or at very least, that lesbianism is all about ~teh feelings for women, but we don't mind having sex with men. It's really damaging mentality, because it encourages sexual harrassment and "corrective" rapes.
So I really hope it won't be anything like that, no flirting with guys or "accidental" shots in underwear for male characters' enjoyment, etc.

Why...? Not sure I understand what's innately female about social maneuvering, ballrooms, and elegance.

I don't think that the LIs were designed around what X would like.
This isn't Mass Effect.
