Here's my take on it:

What Sera wanted more than anything else was to know that someone felt that she truly mattered, and was willing to admit it. Don't forget how her tombstone in Fear's realm said "The Nothing" - having someone willing to tell others that she's something to them is something she never thought would happen. Especially if, as I suspect is the case from how she responds when you tell her that you let everybody know that you and she are an item, she's been somebody's dirty little secret before. 

 

So for Sera the best possible gift is someone who loves her back, and isn't ashamed to tell anybody about it.

Fancy name isn't the only condition.

 

For example, in my NM PT, both Cass and The Wall are stuck with "Standart Shield" - which are two exactly the same Hurlock Alpha Shields - or something. Darkspawn stuff in origin of the schematic. It's the best shield I can come up with ever since some seven levels or such back.

Oh, thank you both, will keep this info in mind. I was doing it wrong, sent Cullen out for most of my resources, no wonder I wasn't getting the better stuff, use Lels more.

 

 

Worth noting that this is just for the resource missions you get after taking a keep (gather leather, gather cloth etc...). Leliana finds the rare stuff in those cases. For the general ones that you get for opening up an area, it depends what you want: Cullen goes for metals, Leliana herbs and Josie a mixture.

My stupid cat decided that behind my Xbox was the perfect place for a nap and of course she blocked the vents at the back. The thing started to overheat and I had to shoo her. She was not happy. Silly cat.

I think part of the reason people aren't big fans of Sera is the combo of her dialogue and her accent. 

 

If she had her accent but her writing was a little more common-tongue, I think people would like her more. As it stands, I find her very garbled and slangy; maybe that's what others are finding as well?

Nah, I don't think its that. If they liked her, I think they'd find her accent "fun" or "original."

Honestly I think there are a ton of factors, but it boils down to the fact that she's younger and less mature and feels like a bratty little sister at times.

People hated Carver for that reason too. Like him, Sera doesn't kiss your ass but she's also not THE GREATEST while she does it...she's flawed and at times hypocritical and shortsighted , and people also tend to dislike the more human characters in these series in favor of the unquestioned bros or the big plot heavies.
