This is probably why I appreciate good design more than a lot of art. I appreciate both form and function, and when the two come together, my favourite things emerge. Like the Spitfire or an A4 Pacific steam locomotive. I'm basically a science geek with an eye for the aesthetic, who also likes languages. And sports. What am I, again?My Uni tutor explained it like this.
On one hand, you have art where everything is pretty and all over the place. On the other hand, you have science. Science like psychology and others where you understand how people view the world. Graphic design is those two brought together to create something that looks good, but is also functional - get's the message across in unique ways.
Basically, anytime your college tutor says "make it pretty", call them up on the bullish*t.
