So your approach is the only approach? That'd be why you're the only person to complete the game then. Or not.Bah, warriors and mages lack DPS. Its not like in origins where DW warrior was better and easier to use than a rogue or DA 2 where a berserker warrior could kill just as fast as a rogue while being much tankier. If you want to dish out the damage then be a rogue.

Well, you can always go Rift Mage and just dish the damage out with the sweet Spirit damage.
Or 2H Reaver on lower difficulties and just "F YOU ANY AND EVERYONE NEAR ME"

You can do whatever you want on lower difficulties. Though you can do 2h Reaver on nightmare, its just that turn the bolt is a must have passive since groups of ranged enemies is your bane.
And mage DPS does greatly increase once you get your specialization. Though I'm liking necromancer more because of haste and walking bomb.

I find rift mage plus all the AOEs to be quite effective, yes... DPS is one measure but doesn't take into account how many enemies you're damaging at a time...
I suppose the hardest part of the game is before you get your specialization. After you get to skyhold, every class gets a large DPS boost with the right specializations.

This is what I'm waiting for on this Nightmare run. I am about to start the quest where you deal with the mages/templars and can't wait to get to Skyhold.

This is definitely what I'm going for now.

Berserker didn't even come close to Rogue Hawke in DA2 since Rogue Hawke was just plain broken. (10 second Arishok duel anyone?)
This time round though, Reavers (maybe KE too?) can dish out damage just not on par with any rogue spec since their all OP in the right hands.

Just to muddy the waters a little, here's Varric and the Artificer spec in action.

Very impressive.
I'm not sure how he managed to get all critical hits there. Is that an ability from the talent tree?

Ah but Berserker S&S was just so much tankier than a rogue. Very useful on nightmare, especally vs those dangerous AoE attacks.

Hail of Arrows triples any Archery talent used but most of those crits were from Leaping Shot.
Looked Like It Hurt from Sabotage gives stamina for each crit and Opportunity Knocks lowers cooldown times with each crit.

How is the DPS for 2h Reaver?
It really seems like the classes are well balanced except for 2H, which doesn't have the speed of the DW and is still pretty squishy, so if it can't pull the big numbers...seems like it's not as exciting as it could be. Doesn't mean it's not fun to play, of course, but from a numerical standpoint.

I did quite fine with it so long as I didn't have more than a couple enemies on me.

It would be nice to be able to look through the various threads without the inevitable Sera's stupid comments, it's really getting old and grates on me.
Indeed. This is why I basically only follow this thread, I don't have the time or patience to deal with fools.
Rift Mage is awesome. I'm doing it now on my NM run, love it.
Good to know, since it's the specialization I'm going to use on my nightmare run as well. ![]()

2h warrior uses Whirlwind + a horn to deal its damage. Fully upgrade whirlwind and just keep spinning. Its your fastest attack. Have Cass use warcry to pull in enemies on top of her, cast static cage over Cass and then whirlwind spam. Each enemy you hit gets hit by lighting every time you spin and each spin does more damage than the last. 2h weapons have the highest base damage in the game so Whirlwinds damage builds up very quickly.
The real problem with 2h warriors are enemies immune to knockdown but at least with whirlwind spam you are good at removing armor/barrier quickly. Just make sure to carry lots of Regen potions. Your going to need them. And get turn the bolt so archers stop dealing massive damage to you.

Aaand I just discovered that one of the agents in Val Royeaux is missable if you don't speak to her soon after the cutscene with the grand cleric/lord seeker Lucius....sigh.

You killed Krem to make friends with monsters.
I do like that merry band of misfits don't get me wrong but a handful of soldiers over one of the most powerful military nations in Thedas, hmm gotta put personal feelings aside and pick the logical choice. Bull's men knew the risk afterall they're soldiers. Lol did a complete 360 here whereas before I tried this out I wouldn't dream of picking the qunari over Bull's bros but now, sorry guys hold the line.
