Man knew how to get high.

Bet he was doped out his gourd when he tumbled down that chasm.

Well, yeah. The guy had a huge f*cking hook in his shoulder! I'd be off my head as well.

Actually Holmes uses both cocaine and opiates...

Only when there is nothing stimulating around him.

I miss this craziness.  But Sera has biscuitry-related issues, so I'm a little busy.

Spoiler

This is one huge cookie doe.

Wish i could make cookies or find one like this. Most cookies here are so small -_-

I think I've seen cookies that big. Well depending on how big Sera's hand is.

Now that's a big cookie!

You could make lots of smaller cookies and stick them together with cookie dough... I might actually try that.

Also my search-fu says this.

I must figure out how to do that past thread search here.  My thanks and lol welp it's not so bad I was expecting something worse, that wishful thinking on my part tho, wrong Crim!

Lol, what is Sera's obsession with getting under Cassandra's pants? ;p

You've met Cass haven't you, it's hard not to melt, so damn hot srsly. Can't blame Sera at all.

Ahhhh! Just got to pull pranks with Sera. Man that was fun! <3

Why did I ever dislike her so much before? Soo grateful I entered this thread, y'all converted me!

Nlcu2.gif

Finally broke you, be proud thread, one of us one of us... :P

....Please don't awoken the goddess of the hunt and sacrifice >.<
...
On second thought, please do :P

I'm fimrly in the camp that Sera=Andruil now.

Aha, that theory is fun though, I'm firmly on the fence about it, won't dismiss it outright.

I wasn't around for some time but I've heard someone found male dialogue for Cullen's romance and some dev confirmed he was initially supposed to be bisexual.

Is that true? Because there was also some dialogue recorded by male PC's voice actor for Sera's romance...

I happened to catch this, and I know the answer: no, it was never intended.

As a quirk of the way they do the recording, a lot of the planning and writing is occurring simultaneously. Booking voice actors late in the process is more expensive than simply having them record extra dialogue in existing bookings, so they have them record any currently-written dialogue for both genders, since the people in the studio don't know what has been planned, yet.

Basically, all the characters have dialogue recorded for both genders, and some of the files ended up in the game (extraneous stuff that wasn't entirely removed is left behind in virtually every video game made, nowadays.)

Edit: And this was confirmed by a dev, although I've forgotten which one.

It was a alleged a while back that Cullen had been planned as a bisexual romance and cut fairly late, but I don't know whether that was confirmed or not.

Here is the main thread on it. I don't know if that's any help.

In the past there has often been a certain amount of impossible to access dialogue recorded because it was easier to do it that way.

All characters start of as "bisexual". It's only further into development do they start to take shape and the writers start seeing them a certain way.

It makes it easier because if you have a character that starts off straight, but 2 months into writing that character, they just fit better as gay, you effectively waste 2 months worth of writing. Instead, you can write both straight and gay side-by-side and if they start suiting a certain preference, you can just cut the other. Easy.

Is that based off something a writer said?

I don't know if anything was confirmed. I've also never heard of there being male PC VO's for Sera's romance.

It's what I got from the GaymerX2: Building a better Romance panel. They were saying how characters don't always work the way they were being written. I figured this was likely the way in which it was done because it's the most efficient, especially for characters like these who are all different.

I don't believe it was stated though, so perhaps I should change that. It's just what I would do if I were a writer.

Because there isn't. The famous bug where you romanced Sera as a male didn't have romance lines.

First sentence during her sex scene was recorded by male PC voice actor.

Anyway, I've checked things myself and found this comment from locked thread about Cullen's bisexuality:

Danaduchy is the person known for digging up ALL the audio files, so I think this is genuine. However, in her Tumblr, she says the Dorian romance has only male Inquisitor vo and Sera and Blackwall only have female Inquisitor vo, so apparently they didn't record all the lines with everyone just in case.

On her Tumblr I asked her to shed more light on Sera's situation. And as for Cullen, I've noticed she wrote that: "There’s a tweet posted around that said Cullen male romance was cut because cinematic team run of time".

Good, now it's settled. Hopefully that'll calm you down about Sera being originally a "bi romance".

Not that it was any big deal in first place.

I would take that to mean that a character is simply subject to change. If you apply the same logic to other elements of a character I can't see a someone being written* as both a princess and a commoner until a later stage, and that's ignoring that bisexuality is its own thing anyway.

*Or as a rule at least. I can see a writer doing that while they toyed with both concepts.

For you evidently, but I explained before why it was for me.

And that opens another can of worms. If Cullen was going to be bi, it means lesbian players were going to get the short end of the stick when it comes to devs' care (along with straight men, but they were always privileged and pandered to when it comes to romance possibilities which can't be said about lesbian players). And it's already very clear that lesbian option was treated very differently than gay male option:

[Gaider] urges those who choose to design minority characters to consider their roles and purpose in the game. Additionally, he suggests those of privilege to seek out possible groups affected by design choices and talk to them, or if security requires it not leave the office, to hire diversely. Their unique viewpoints, he said, should be considered “assets,” not “affirmative action.”

Yeah I'm confused by this too, pls explain.

Didn't know that Sera possibly being written as bi was open for debate/was an issue unless some were mentioning this in other places. I would like to think that she was intended to be a gay character all along, don't really like the thought that she was meant to be something else and only written as a gay character as an afterthought.

There are always haphazard bits of unused content left behind in the code of any game that is released (I already explained this to you earlier in the thread.)

The fact that some bits get left behind isn't proof of anything, and a dev already confirmed that they record lines with multiple genders because the studio staff do not know what the writers are planning ahead of time. It is less expensive to record contingency dialogue in an existing booked session than to have to call a VO back in later in the development process to re-record lines.

MTE

As for 'the short end of the stick', just by numbers, if Cullen was bi:

Straight women - 4 romance options (3 companions, 1 advisor);

Gay men - 3 romance options (2 companions, 1 advisor);

Straight men & gay women - 2 romance options (1 companion, 1 advisor).

And I know it's hard to compare one romance to another, but I believe it was stated that every romance got equal care.
