in this playthrough as I'm romancing Josie it's interesting to see what her journal enteries are like, also I admitted to Mother Giselle for the first time the truth of what happened in the Fade hence Sera's pondering of it. Ask Lels for help, too many birds.

Annnnnnnd how did I miss this?

There are always haphazard bits of unused content left behind in the code of any game that is released (I already explained this to you earlier in the thread.)

The fact that some bits get left behind isn't proof of anything, and a dev already confirmed that they record lines with multiple genders because the studio staff do not know what the writers are planning ahead of time. It is less expensive to record contingency dialogue in an existing booked session than to have to call a VO back in later in the development process to re-record lines.

Wasn't that about ME1? Because some dev explained that because of some mess during production they had to record lots of unnecessary voice lines, but that wasn't the case in later games.

Which would be further proved by the fact that Dorian apparently, as Danaduchy claimed, had no other-sex lines recorded, just like straight LIs aside from Cullen had no same-sex lines.

You can continue to think that.

That's awfully pessimistic. I suppose I'm not as jaded as I should be in regards to this it seems.

No, it applies to all games. The bits of code that get left behind are there because the decision has been made not to use up a coder's time to try and remove it. DA:I had already been delayed, sending someone off to round up the last bits of unused data wasn't as important as working on the game's existing content.

Removing code isn't a simple act of cutting something. Code often contains inter-dependencies. The fact that there are no lingering lines for Dorian has nothing to do with the way they record, it has to do with how they remove code that they don't intend to use.

 The numbers game.

Yes, the thought occurred later.

Honestly I'm a little surprised that things wound up as slanted as they did. Though I guess it would probably take a lot of work to bring Harding or Viv up to romance levels dialogue.

That's awfully pessimistic.

If you take that post at face value then it isn't pessimistic. There is no evidence contrary, so you can continue to think that.

That book actually changes over time?  I never knew that!

Also, I can't help but refer to Leliana as "Lels" in my head now whenever I see her.  I blame you entirely.  But that's not a bad thing.

I prefer Leliana's approach to getting sweets.

Spoiler

Lots of sweet teeth in the Inquisition. All three advisors love sweets. (The above from Leliana, Josephine sends something sweet to Cullen [He likes them? It's only butter and sugar. Ferelden taste is so simple] and Josie herself was craving those little cakes at the end of the game.)

Except that dialogue isn't code, it's data, and it shouldn't be inter-dependent because it's the end content being called. But yes it may get left behind for efficiency reasons.

Today in anti-Sera news: someone complaining about Sera being a stubborn person who won't change her mind says that you should stop trying to convince him otherwise because people are stubborn and won't change their minds.

Code is data, by definition, and removing it must be done carefully, to ensure that you aren't removing lines of dialogue that were intended to be kept in the game, hence the term inter-dependent.

That's the thing. If you get pissed by reading their arguments, they win. Try not to let them get to you. I know it's hard.

I've seen one messenger in my game and she disappeared into the room between Josie's room and the war room never to be seen again.

I tried following em around myself but it doesn't really work for me, I just take a chance and fast travel to the rookery hoping to hear Lels banter, sometimes it works most of the time nothing. I can always catch Josie's ones though. Lol heard the Dorian scared of Lels one recently.

Code is data, but dialogue audio files aren't code - unless you're taking a very broad definition. I was assuming that the dialogue for Sera Romance Scene #3 wouldn't be used anywhere else, but I guess there's no rule saying that so there might be a dependency.

What is the recommended level for doing In Your Heart Shall Burn on Nightmare?

I got there on my Nightmare run but haven't started the quest yet. I'm currently a lvl 8. I doubt it's doable at that level, or is it?

I struggled at level 9 but level 10 I managed to do it. I'm right in thinking that is the attack on Haven, yes?

Sardaukar is right. A line of code isn't the same thing as an mp3/wav/ogg/whathaveyou.

Removing an actual line of code could cause a lot more headache than it causes by staying there - especially if you're defining it as an asset in the code (ie giving the path, a "classname" and such) - if you never use an asset "broken" in this way, nothing happens - but removing it from the code could break other assets you wish to keep.

So it's potentially more efficient to just leave a line of code be, as long as it's not messing anything up, and take care of it later if your time's getting short.
