What if the different reaction, in case of cheating with a woman, boils down to "You ass, I wanted to cheat on you with her, too!"I'd be kinda ticked if she reacted differently to the Inquisitor cheating with a man vs. cheating with a woman. There's a lot of biphobia among the LGBQ+ community, and I wouldn't want my escapist fantasy video game to remind me of that,

Then I'd wish they'd never brought it up at all. That would be tasteless, I think.

There are better jokes that they could use the word budget one, for sure.

Wait, it'd be tasteless for NPC to reveal they had the same desire the player apparently had, too? Why?Then I'd wish they'd never brought it up at all. That would be tasteless, I think.
Is there a chance it's not more about just taking offense at deflating the player's ego? (by letting them know they weren't the only one who didn't only have eyes for their supposed partner)

After thinking about it for a bit, I'd say that I doubt she'd react much differently if the PC cheats on her with a man or a woman. In real life, I know that isn't often the case (when a bisexual cheats on someone in a s/s relationship with someone of the oppposite gender,) but I doubt the writers will address the nuance. Whether or not that would be considered an oversight or a victim of the word budget is up in the air.
I had to mull it over, because as a bisexual the gender wouldn't make a difference to me. It would sting pretty equally. However, I know that isn't always the case with lesbians and gay men with bisexual partners.
It would also be harder to predict due to general outlook on sexualities in Thedas being different than one in real life. Would a lesbian in Thedas feel the same way about her lover cheating on her with a member of the opposite sex as a lesbian in real life?

The way you worded it, I thought that Sera was stating that she was going to use the NPC to cheat on you as a cheap shot at the PC. If I misunderstood, then I apologize. ![]()

I'm not sure on either count, mainly because I'm not lesbian and can't speak for them.

I was reading the romance thread and had a thought.
If you romance Sera and cheat on her, do you think she'll react differently if you do so with a man as opposed to a woman?

Well, overall, I was just thinking of it as some sort of reaction to the situation where it's the player that'd choose to cheat on Sera with another woman, that could be different from possible reaction to the player choosing to cheat on her with a male NPC, but without making a deal out of the player's bi-sexuality (vs player being a lesbian like Sera)The way you worded it, I thought that Sera was stating that she was going to use the NPC to cheat on you as a cheap shot at the PC. If I misunderstood, then I apologize.
I suppose this could be viewed as a cheap shot made in anger to hurt the player back after they hurt Sera by choosing to cheat on her (something I'd consider in character if she's supposed to be impulsive etc) or just a way to signal that Sera has some level of agency, too. I'm not sure if that's how you read it (and if you think that'd be tasteless) and sorry if the wording was confusing

I'm thinking they would treat her being cheated on with man instead of a women the same as if it was a woman.
However, I think it's normal for some gay and bi people to react differently if it's someone of the opposite sex and it's not necessarily biphobia, well not in the sense of hate. Growing up with homophobia and seeing society revolve around heterosexual couples, plenty of gay people (not all) are made to feel that the love they have to offer is inferior/less and that they'll never be good enough for their partner because they themselves are the same-sex. Someone cheating on them with the opposite-sex brings up those feelings and fears. It ends up feeling far worse. It's a byproduct of the homophobia many endured and how they internalized it.
But I'd also rather they avoid bringing that into a video game. It's a depressing topic and Sera is probably too strong of a person to take that sh*t in lol. <--- Forget about this. I actually have no opinion. I was mindlessly saying it, I was not serious. Though I'd think it would be neat to have Sera react differently. Edited.

Your grammar is just fine.
I had thought along a similar line, but I didn't want to speak for lesbians or gay men. Thanks for sharing that. Stuff like this is why I really feel like I'm learning more about non-hetero sexuality so much by reading the forums. It's been nice. ![]()

i mean, yes there is a reason that gay/lesbian people do that, but that doesn't really excuse it. My gf is Bi. In fact, she leans more to men than women. Does that mean I should freak out if she thinks a guy is cute on the TV? Or act wildly if she talks about guys she used to like, and even "the one that got away?" no. The media does like to show Bisexuals end up with opposite sex partners, nearly all the time. And yeah that can hurt LGQ+ feelings or make them feel insecure, but that doesn't really excuse it.
imagine being bi, and 1 half of people sexualize you or make you into some sex fiend, or even try to use your sexuality for their own gratification. And the other demonizes you because you are not like them and they fear your "hetero side" as if there were sides half and half and not an identity in itself. Erasure. And also the forcing to choose and even by loved ones asked to never talk about part of your identity.
At least we have a community, but Bi people don't. Or at least have to fight to have a place in the community. labels have helped us a lot realize who we are, but it also set us at each other's throats.

Isabela is far more secure in regards to her sexuality than many women I know in the real world. This is something remarkable about that character.
even some one like me, if she were real, would have a had time not being interested (no pun intended)
