Based on that, saying you don't believe in the chant of light means that you are wrong in her eyes. It does not mean that you are trying to force her to change her own mind. That where the leap of logic lies. The one does not necessarily imply the other.

To put it in mathematical terms:

Being wrong (or disagreeing) =/= Trying to change Sera's mind, however much she may choose to think that it is. I agree that she sees it that way, but her logic is flawed.

I should also note here that you're suggesting that Sera's Andrastean faith is more fundamentalist than either that of Cassandra or Leliana, both of whom demonstrate tolerance for other beliefs. Heck, Leliana might have a Dalish elf as her lover. These are the candidates for the next Divine! Have you heard Sera's banters with Bull? She's not devout at all!

yeah she says she'd be a good viddithari so theres that

So to change the subject for a minute. I expected the human noble play through to have issues, with Sera disliking nobles so much but really it was kind of plain. I was looking forward to having to prove to Sera that nobles could be good but it really didn't feel like I had too. My noble became a reaver but it didn't matter but my elf mage gets a comment for becoming a rift mage.

Everyone gets a comment from Sera if your characters are mages. My qunari was KE and Sera was concerned by the fact her tall gf might become a scary mage.

Sera sees your actions. If she sees something wrong, she'll comment on it. This is what happened in the low approval video we saw here. ;)

There's an interesting point. I don't think I've heard all of Sera's banter with Bull but I got the impressions she was interested in learning more about the Qun. She seems to want some kind of greater faith / philosophy, just not an Elf one.

Not just that. She discusses her actual faith with him and he basically gives up because there's no logic to it.

Yeah, Bull and Sera's banter was interesting to hear. You can actually learn quite a bit about her beliefs purely by listening to her banter with certain others.

Was interesting to learn that Sera doesn't believe in the chantry but Andraste-Maker only. Just like irl people who despise church but love god-jesus.

Sera believes the chantry doesn't follow Andraste's will, kinda like it's purely a "mask" for people to control the masses.

I should perhaps underline that I don't actually believe her logic to be based on her reading of the chant of light. I think she thinks that because other Dalish elves have continually told her she's wrong, a Dalish inquisitor will end up doing so too. After Mythal, all her fears on that score resurface, and she (probably wrongly) sees her lover's refusal to relinquish her faith as the first salvo in an attack that will attempt to convert her.

Yeah. Even though i'm an atheist since i'm not really sure if there's a god out there or that jesus was god's child (i personally believe he was just a prophet/rebel back then), i really really despise churches tbh.

So i'm with Sera on this.

Sera is in that regard like Dorian.

He considers himself Andrastian, but he doesn't believe in the chantry.

They are the "protestants" so to speak.

I meant the her view on the chantry is correct. It's a tool used to control the masses.

Wouldn't that make you an agnostic?

I... I actually do not know. It was very... bright. I just saw an outline, the person itself was so glowy that I couldn't tell anything else apart.

It doesn't matter, though, because we have a proof that the Maker cares for his children!

The Chantry is the opium of the people eh?

Like any large organisation the Chantry is mixed. Some people in it just want to help - chantries are often shown as places of refuge, and Elthina is pretty much the only sensible person among Kirkwall's powerful. But it's also used to enforce the status quo for better and worse.

I think the Chantry is one of the better done and even handed depictions of a political force in Thedas.

How do you figure?

Andrastianism teaches that there is only one god. The Dalish faith teaches that there are many gods. This is an actual dichotomy, not a false one.

Atheist is when you don't believe in any higher power. (Like me haha)

On the atheist thing. I call myself an atheist not because I believe that there's definitely no god, but because I lack belief in god. that's what the prefix "a" or "an" means. An asymptomatic person lacks symptoms, an asymmetric shape lacks symmetry, etc. So a theist believes in god and an atheist lacks belief in god.

Agnostic, although commonly used to express doubt these days, actually originally meant that you believe that it cannot be known either way if god is real. In that sense, I'm both. I lack faith in a god, and think it's most likely that there isn't one, at least in the sense of the theistic religions we've invented so far. I don't believe that we'll ever truly know for sure, though, so in that sense I'm agnostic.

Yes, that is. But the next step of taking that to mean that belief in one implies that you're trying to force her to change her mind is where the logic fails. The idea there is no possible "live and let live" is where the false dichotomy emerges.
