basically but big bad is a strech, antaganist in TORHah. Knew that. In fact, what I know is...
Revan is a protagonist of a BioWare-made Star Wars game. Later, something happened in a sequel, and Revan became the big bad.

Knights of the Old Republic is the game that introduced me to the wonder that is Bioware storytelling. It looks old and clunky now but it's still great. On the plus side, you could probably get it on Steam and get it to work on whatever Windows PC you have access to. It certainly doesn't require the latest graphics hardware...

Is it considered heresy to say I don't know who that is?
Revan is the player character and protagonist in the BioWare game Knights of the Old Republic, which came out in 2003. KotOR was a pretty good game for its time and commands an extremely large following. For many, it was their first BioWare game, and their real introduction to a BioWare game's standard elements. The game got a sequel, not developed by BioWare, a few years later (with a different protagonist) and then an MMORPG follow-up, The Old Republic, in 2011.
Revan was many players' first experience with a major plot twist. Your relatively anonymous and somewhat amnesiac character spends his or her time running around the galaxy doing stuff for the Jedi, but near the end of the game it is revealed that you were in fact Darth Revan, leader of the evil Sith, kidnapped and mind-wiped by the Jedi to use as a secret weapon against your erstwhile followers. The player had the option of trying to recover his or her former glory as dark lord of the galaxy, or continuing to fight on the side of the Republic and the Jedi to overthrow the Sith and restore peace.
It was decent for what it was, but like most Star Wars sub-fandoms, it developed a truly obnoxious following. Revan him/herself became something akin to a cult figure, subject of endless Internet debates ("was Revan stronger than Anakin Skywalker??!!!1").
In order to fit into Star Wars canon, the two protagonists of the KotOR games were given definite characters and personalities. Revan became a man who had a romantic relationship with the Jedi Bastila Shan, while the Jedi Exile became a woman named Meetra Surik. Both of them canonically took the light-side path in their games and defeated the Sith. This annoyed many people (like myself) but realistically there wasn't another way to do things. Whatever.
When The Old Republic came out, both of them ended up being incorporated into the story, largely as a nod to fans. Their use in the story, however, was badly mangled; Revan oscillated between being a messianic figure and a genocidal maniac, while Surik was horribly mischaracterized and seemingly did nothing except act like an idiot and die. (Drew Karpyshyn, the lead writer for KotOR and SWTOR, who also wrote the Revan tie-in novel, admitted that he knew very little about Surik when he was writing his stories.)
For many, including myself, both characters are kind of ruined and pointless now, and the best thing that can be done with them is to leave them be and move on. There is a much larger group, however, that got into playing SWTOR primarily because of KotOR, and they're still dedicated to Revan or to the idea of Revan, and they want more of him. They actually killed him off during the game's plot, but they brought him back a month ago in the latest expansion as an antagonist. Now, he might finally be gone for good.
Disney's acquisition of Lucasfilm caused the company to erase much of Star Wars canon and start over; in theory, only the things from the movies and TV shows are canonical now, with all book content going forward being canon as well. But Star Wars canon has always been in a weird place. Authors are incorporating information from older works and the company is apparently okay with that. And it's also not clear where this leaves SWTOR, which had a continuing license before Disney's purchase that doesn't come up for renewal for another year or two. SWTOR's story heavily references many things that were erased from canon. The possibility exists that the entire game will become noncanonical if/when the license runs out. Revan fans do not particularly like this idea.

So I did the temple of Mythal on my current playthrough and proceeded to talk to Sera afterwards. This time my elfy-elf is romancing the sweet-as-pie Josie
and being more of a surrogate parent for Sera. And the result? Sera was actually almost reasonable during the conversation. I mean I sat the girl down and (gently) drove home the point that people can have different beliefs and she DIDN'T throw a tantrum. I got a slight and normal disapproval but that was it. No raised voices or anything. I diplomatically shot down her arguments on why I should believe differently than I did and all she did was get pouty. Friendly rooftop time survived. At the end she just sounded like a teenager who got educated on the finer points of adulthood and that was how I hoped the scene would play out.
Why can't she be this reasonable in a romance?
Well, if you look at it, Sera tries to break-up with the Inquisitor (regardless of race) during the scene where she has a dream about her dying. She wasn't acting incredibly reasonable there either. This (combined with what you are saying about the friendship path for the Dalish) leads me to believe that the real issue isn't as simple as clashing religious beliefs.
This is probably the first serious relationship for Sera and that is pretty scary for her. I'd guess that she has been alone for most of her life and has lost those that she had any type of relationship with (Lady Emmald dies at some point, Sera mentions that some of the Red Jennies quit after making a nice pay day, etc.)
With a Dalish Inquisitor, she has the additional fear of losing her to the concept of some 'elven ideal' which is one Sera can't live up to. The more 'elfy' the Inquisitor starts acting, the more worried Sera gets that she'll lose her.
