I detect a whiff of that old 'people aren't really gay they've just been traumatized by the other sex' mentality.

Ugh.. that reminds me of when a idiot told me the only reason i found other women sexually attractive was cos i didn't have a father figure as a small child, i didn't understand it then & i don't understand now

I find the implication that sexual desire for men should be triggered by one's father disturbing, honestly.

Is certainly creepy putting "sexual desire" & family members in the same sentence :?

Someone clearly f*cked their daddy... I've just disturbed myself.

I suspect it's related to the Oedipus complex or something like that. It's a stage where kids say they want to marry their mom or their dad. They don't understand what it entails, of course. They just think 'I love mom/dad and people who love each other get married'.

Leap of logic, but hey!

I have no idea, but my guess would be from the concept that if you had a good father, he becomes the template for the kind of man who would be a good husband for you and father for your kids.

But there is a huge jump between "this is a good example of a husband/father" (which should instead bee good example of a good Person) and "I like men because my Dad was a good man" or "I don't like men because my dad was a bad person"

So I don't agree with the concept at all, but that is my guess at its origin

The simplest explanation is that some people think being gay is wrong/a sickness/whatever and they will leap on anything to justify this.

Narrow-minded person : Was your dad nice?

Gay Person : Yes.

NMP: Was your mom nice?

GP: Yes.

NMP: Were you popular in school?

GP: Yes, actually.

NMP: Nothing bad ever happened?

GP: Well, once during a soccer game my shoe came off when I kicked the ball and it landed in the mud.

NMP: Aha! That's why you're gay!

It sounds Freudian. Though I have no idea whether there is something sound being misrepresented or it's just all wrong.

Considering Freud had serious mommy issues, his theories about sexuality are dubious at best.

I think it was one of those "under the radar" movies but it looks pretty good.

Considering the only two movies I'm potentially interested in in the past... two? years are Penguins of Madagascar (come on! Penguin Commandos! How can someone NOT like Skipper, Rico, Kowalski and Private?) and Fast 7 (Hollywood, but... Bah, it's one of the movies that still make SOME amount of sense when you think about it... If you forget the twenty-mile runway from Fast 6)

No, I haven't. Is it good?

I don't know. I was asking to see if anyone had seen it to tell me if it's good. But, I've just bought it on a whim so I'll give it a watch tomorrow and let you know how it is.

Hey guys I was MIA for a few days and tried to catch up but I'm too ADHD for that so pretend I cackled at your jokes and nodded sympathetically if bad things happened and trolled any drama and contributed meaningfully to any discussion damn I'm a good poster when I'm not posting ANYWAY hi.
