Given what her other arm is doing in that picture, I'd say telling a dirty joke.

Fair enough. I hope that she's an interesting character. If you really love her, then the writers did their job. If you really hate her, then the writers did their job.
Even among the companions that I don't think I'd get along with, they at least seem interesting enough to possible invoke some sort of strong emotional reaction. Well, so far. I'd rather have a companion that I really disliked (Oghren) versus one I could care less about (Sebastian.)
True, let's just hope I don't hate her nearly as much as I did Petrice.
While this is true - and with BioWare writing it tends to be more true than untrue - there are a lot of fictional characters out there that are badly written and which are hated for, y'know, being badly written. Not because they're controversial or designed to make you uncomfortable about something or whatever.
I wasn't referring to a badly written character, and people hating them because of it. That was a whole different animal. I was talking among the ones that were very fleshed out and generally considered well written. As an example, Morrigan was disliked so much that the "Slap Morrigan" mod came into being. It says a lot that folks felt that strongly about her.
She has potential, but sounds like she's cast from the same mold as Zevran and Isabela, especially since she's likely the default dual-wielder to contrast with Varric's archery, so... I could go either way.

I've never met any companion that I passionately disliked in any Bioware game. The ones I disliked, I just wanted to kind of avoid, like Zevran, Fenris and Sebastian. The only possible exception is Vivienne.
never heard of that one
<looks at the hand cupped around the forearm>
<sees the way the extended arm hits the table>
That was my best guess, based on the picture. Otherwise, beats me.
I predict a stoic character with no patience for nonsense.
I must admit that there are none of the companions that has me excited yet, but as with everything bioware I will reserve judgement for the final product ![]()
I'm kinda sad that the scribe girl is the one that has had the least rumors, there are just a few drawings of her.
I hope by "brat" they don't mean she's like Carver.

Really? I thought her describtion made her sound like "life is a game" type of character similar to Isabela but with less sex.

I didn't consider him bratty I guess. Whiny, but not all that bratty.

He was being sarcastic. ![]()

For once, you and I are completely in alignment.

OK. I'll be the one to say it. It looks like she's fisting something.

Don't be hatin' on my little bro!

I guess you're right. But him having a tantrum when he didn't get his own way made me feel he was bratty. Like my sister. ![]()

You too? I was basing my idea also due on the horrified look Cassandra has on her face.
@Banxey <chuckle> Fair enough.
Actually, I think she'll be presented as an archer. Other than her having a bow in the GI video, she might be the sixth companion to be shown, which is hinted to be an archer in the Gamestar preview. She has potential, but sounds like she's cast from the same mold as Zevran and Isabela, especially since she's likely the default dual-wielder to contrast with Varric's archery, so... I liked him in the end. We had our Hallmark bonding moment in Legacy. It's all good. ![]()

You were supposed to strongly dislike Petrice, even if you agreed with her motives. She's not a companion, she's cast as an antagonist. It's not really an analogous situation.

Yeah, sure, I agree that plenty of this stuff is intentional. Like I said, BioWare's writers tend to create interesting companions designed to evoke a strong reaction from players. Doesn't mean that we should assume perfect competence on their part, though.

Yes definitely. I hope that scene is in the game. ![]()
Hey, Zevran had a sex change operation.
Ok, I'm not being fair. She is way manlier than Zevran.

So, two archers total along with Varric?
She better be hot Bioware !
Out of all the new characters, she's the one I'm the most hesitant about. I can easily see how she could become one of my most favorite characters, and just as easily become one of my least favorite. The kind of humor they're going with with her requires a certain finesse to avoid becoming obnoxious.
That being said, that concept art is probably my favorite, due to tying in perfectly to an in joke with my D&D group.
