By my calculations, this post should end up on page 2000.
To mark the moment of this momentous milestone, I've composed an ode to our voluminous verbiage. And blizzards.*

*The meteorological event, not the software house, although they are OK.

I think that might be my fault. Alexia made a joke about me and Veeia (BSN waifus) and cooties and I asked her to back off. She hasn't been back since.
I was feeling grumpy that day and I said that her joke 'crossed a line. Please back off'.
I'm really sorry if that's what prompted her exile.
I just checked. She logged off literally within minutes of you telling her to back off.
Doesn't sound too good ![]()
EDIT: Yay 2000!
Partaaaaaay!
Anybody up for a samba?
Apparently Deus Ex, American McGee's Alice, Ground Control. MechWarrior IV and Crimson Skies all came out in 2000.
Also BG2 if you like that sort of thing.

Well done.

How much did I love Deus Ex? Very much. That's how much. I regret that I never played a Bioware game before KotOR, though...
And thank you. I'm not sure if you consider my post to be greater than, less than or equal to fireworks, though...
Edit: To be on the safe side...
Hello, ladies and gents!
I'm going to try and get Alexia to log in and read al our messages this evening/night, once I come back home. Wish me luck, she's sweet, loyal, fun and much more, but she can also be a bit stubborn.
Edit: BC, I don't know if you were the person with whom she had the misunderstanding that drove her away, but I'm sure that if it were you, once she sees your message she'll forgive you. I mean, I hope she will. *hugs*

I think Deus Ex is more interesting for what it promised than what it achieved. There's this offer of big serious games there, which still hasn't quite happened, at least in that style. And yet it's also a super cheesy pulp of basic conspiracy theories.
KotOR seems like a good place to start, people who played BG seem to just be continually disappointed by how BioWare doesn't make games like that anymore.

I actually don't like fireworks that much, they just seemed appropriate.
but she can also be a bit stubborn.
I won't hold that against anyone.
A couple of celebratory Sera shots that Alexia might like...

And a personal goodbye to my first Seramancing character, Tressa Lavellan, whose journey ended yesterday and who turned out better than I could ever have hoped for. I have great memories of that playthrough, intertwined with times spent in this thread.

I wouldn't ordinarily ever try to flirt with a woman who I knew to be a lesbian, but I think I might do it with Aidan Trevelyan, just to see him get shot down in flames...

I wasn't holding it against her. She's my friend. I was merely saying that it might take me a bit to get her to log in and read the PMs.

Sorry, that was meant to read as in a sympathetic I can be stubborn as well. First thought was 'her and half the thread' - I mean there have been a few discussions with people digging their heels in - but I thought that was antagonistic and a bit projective. Oh well.
I love those Sera screenies, Uncle!

I have zero time for conspiracy theorists in real life (certainly at that "world domination" level) but I did enjoy the game very much. Along with the original Half Life, it felt like games were finally beginning to develop into a proper storytelling medium. Then I played KotOR...
Critical research failure strikes again! From the 'accent' thread:
I think the games could use more of the variety in British accents. And I mean true accents, not a cop out like Sera's american accent with two features vaguely from the Grim North tacked on.
Dohohohoho!

It's like they have shoot me written all over.
There's something about accents, they just attract criticism from people who think they know what they're talking about.

That reminds me of the people who complained about Leliana's 'fake' French accent in Origins. It happened with a movie actress who 'faked' an Australian accent too (she's Australian, naturally).
Some people.

Or, you know, checking the facts before complaining.
Edit: if just to avoid looking stupid.

What? Why would you do that? That would waste valuable complaining time.

And deprive others of a good laugh. Good point. ![]()
Being charitable one might say that she uses a mixture of British and American slang, but that's true of most Brits these days, due to US cultural dominance...
Is it dominance or prevalence? (also on which syllable is the emphasis in 'prevalence'? My reflex is to go for the first, but I'm not sure.)
Well both. I'd say that American companies dominate the worldwide entertainment industry, which informs the way we speak, especially in the English language. And your instinct is right. And deprive others of a good laugh. Good point.
