Hey if ya can find a way to really ****** off Vivi..let me know...I just cant get her maaaaaaad and I want to so badly
Viv really surprised me. I disagree with her views to a great extent, I've always been pro-mage in the sense that they should be able to determine their own futures and that the way the circles work currently and have worked in the past is corrupt and too mired in the unequal power structures of Thedas. That said, I'm very, very glad they included her in the game because she brings a perspective that we haven't seen very much up until now, not in such detail at least. The circle mage who is very pro-circle. I like having my views challenged in thoughtful ways, so I listen to her intently. That said, I still disagree with her, because her point of view comes from a place of privilege. The circle works wonderfully for her because she enjoys a privileged position within it. She seems entirely blinkered to the notion that not all are equal under chantry/circle rule. I like that about her too, because it brings a very interesting dynamic to the discussion.
While I'm still very much on the side of mage self-determination, I certainly give a lot more thought to the role circles might play now having met Viv and talked to her a lot. That's particularly true having also listened to Dorian talking about what the circle is in Minrathous. Which is to say, if anything my own view point is that if there are to be circles they should be academies that act more as schools and universities that mages can go to in order to learn to control and hone their craft in creative, productive, useful, interesting ways. But I also believe that society has to change on a fundamental level to also provide support for mages within the community, rather than treating them as something that has to be put in a special place out of the way.
Buuuuut, this thread isn't about that. Sorry. Talking about Viv just made me think about how I love it when the game adds more layers to things I had previously made my mind up on.
*tackle* Pheoniiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiixxxxxxxxx!
How have ya been !
I'm happy now that you're back!
Try not to disappear again ![]()

I kind of tend to agree with you on Viv (what's worse for me is she looks and acts very much like a woman I dated very briefly until her classist views turned me off completely). However like you I tend to engage her and pay close attention to what she says. Last night she confessed she wants to bring mages within the Chantry which sounded, to me, like she doesn't just want to reform the circles as they existed but wants mages fully integrated into the church proper. This had a hint of progressiveness I hadn't expected from Viv and am I wrong in this? I'd like to be! ![]()

if you ally with the mages and choose Cassandra as divine. The mages create the college of enchanters. so there's that at least.

Well, she was the Harbinger of SPEW. I believe I was Sovereign.
I've realized that my role playing is limited to variations of nice/amiable/sympathetic. I can't play evil, or even mean, in dialog options. The closest I get is DA2 when I was Snarky Hawke, but still. Sometimes I try to be unpleasant, and I hover over a the meanest response, and then I'm like "Nooo, I can't say that." If I accidentally clicked on a breakup icon I'd probably apologize to the screen while reloading.
Though it seems I'm okay with beheading people. Huh.

I agree 100%
She has some surprisingly deep thoughts on the matter, and while I don't agree with her on a lot of things, she at least makes sense and you can tell she knows what she's talking about.
I'd never make her Divine, but she definitely is a valuable addition to the team if only for the insightful info she offers to you.
And look what happened I'm ruined now, all I seem to enjoy now is playing elf.
You have ascended. Congratulations.
Can't do shrimp. Louisiana is my home. Allergic to it. Universe has jokes.
Hey Alexia! No this is the first time I'm doing it. I can't do one of those super evil runs yet so this is me trying to test the waters...although I have yet to ever go after the Templars. I should try that but how exactly do they help with closing the breach...or anything? Is Samson still in the picture or does Calpernia assume his role? I only know her because of the clone in multiplayer.
But it isnt super evil run..if ya believe in mage freedom .
*think back about funny Hawke releasing Blood Mage in kirkwall street*
err...ok....so...maybe not all innocent ![]()
Well I found the templar side boring . But ya gotta try it once and see for yourself . Maybe ya will like it .
I did find the fight easier compared to the Mage side though .
No if ya choose the Templar , back when haven get attacked ya fight a Lady mage . If ya side with Mage..ya dont fight Samson..ya fight some other dude .
Samson..ya dont fight him ..until...way later......
They both get the same cutscene..just they switch blade with staff and armor with skirt ![]()
And look what happened I'm ruined now, all I seem to enjoy now is playing elf.
that's quite alright. Elves can also be part of the qunari master race ![]()

No. All they can be is Viddathari.
Qunari. An error of breeding. Useless.
Human. Good candidate.
Dwarf. Too short. Not enough genetic material per individual.
Elf. The pinnacle of evolution. You will be ascended.
well im scared now XDNo. All they can be is Viddathari.

At the risk of derailing this thread (sorry again!), is that progressive? I'd have to hear that dialogue for myself, I think, to fully appreciate the context. My first thought is what of those mages who are not Andrastian? It sounds an awful lot like a wholesale expansion of Andrastian religion, and I'm not particularly comfortable with tying religious doctrine so closely to areas of life that are integral to the running of society.
I mean, from the point of view of moving away from what went before - getting rid of the circles as they were, as they have previously benefitted Viv - that's a progressive move. But the implications of moving it entirely into the chantry aren't progressive at all, in my view.
Like I say, perhaps I'll feel differently once I hear that dialogue for myself.
And again, sorry, no more derailing!! (Unless someone says something interesting that I simply have to respond to!)
yeah she does get "listen to me im your mother"
argh no...
if she was motherly..I would love listening to her......
But she come off more like 'I'm your better'...make me maaaaad
Ya are boshtet..stop Lying to yourself !! Assume the Keelah !
That's just my day job, ma'am. At night, I alternate between being a Dalish elf, and Sovereign, the Vanguard of Destruction.

never understood the dalish arrogance. one would think they didn't had their lands conquered, their "gods" disappear, and the pinnacle of evolution banished to most forests of thedas. ![]()

Lmao, the thread derails a lot. Don't worry. ![]()
