At the risk of derailing this thread (sorry again!), is that progressive? I'd have to hear that dialogue for myself, I think, to fully appreciate the context. My first thought is what of those mages who are not Andrastian? It sounds an awful lot like a wholesale expansion of Andrastian religion, and I'm not particularly comfortable with tying religious doctrine so closely to areas of life that are integral to the running of society.

 

I mean, from the point of view of moving away from what went before - getting rid of the circles as they were, as they have previously benefitted Viv - that's a progressive move. But the implications of moving it entirely into the chantry aren't progressive at all, in my view.

 

Like I say, perhaps I'll feel differently once I hear that dialogue for myself.

 

And again, sorry, no more derailing!! (Unless someone says something interesting that I simply have to respond to!)

 

Oh no,no, good points! I was interested in getting someone's take on her view and you're right, of course, that her views leave non-Andrastian mages in a bit of bind. I had not considered that so thanks for bringing that issue to the fore.

 

I've considered Cassandra to be probably the best candidate as she is a reformer in spirit. Leliana in my first playthrough got very murderous and in my epilogue it was clear that she became a rather Maoist/Pol Pot/style figure i.e. a reformer willing to push

through reform with lots of blood on the walls! Perhaps Robespierre is a better historical analogy. It was frightening to see that happen to poor old Lels! I am not sure if there really is a good candidate for non-Andrastrians though.

Have you read "Buckles". The two last chapters about the break-up are amazing. I'd make it my headcanon for an elven inquisitor. Oh, I wish it were an option in game after the Mythal temple quest *sigh*.

And destroy isnt perfect..since it screw up the geth and EDI....wich sucked....
