those that 9/10 means you're speaking for yourself?
Oh no,no, good points! I was interested in getting someone's take on her view and you're right, of course, that her views leave non-Andrastian mages in a bit of bind. I had not considered that so thanks for bringing that issue to the fore.
I've considered Cassandra to be probably the best candidate as she is a reformer in spirit. Leliana in my first playthrough got very murderous and in my epilogue it was clear that she became a rather Maoist/Pol Pot/style figure i.e. a reformer willing to push
through reform with lots of blood on the walls! Perhaps Robespierre is a better historical analogy. It was frightening to see that happen to poor old Lels! I am not sure if there really is a good candidate for non-Andrastrians though.
*I'd give some likes to your posts but I am all out for the day but great stuff!
(I'm out of likes too... they get used up fast, don't they?)
I'm yet to finish the game, and so far I'm at the point where I've been able to talk to Cass about her opinions on becoming Divine but no one else. I'm interested to see what Leli has to say. From what you and others elsewhere have hinted, I can't help think I'll end up plumping for Leli though. I was very convinced by what Cass had to say to me, but I admit I do struggle in real life with reformism versus revolution - I see merits in both approaches and I think context matters.
Context in this instance is that I support Anders' actions on the basis that "no one changed anything by writing a strongly worded letter" -- the situation was a powder keg, it was going to blow at some point, and I understand his view that doing something violent and impactful now gets that ball rolling and forces the hands of those who would have mages being abused and annulled almost ritually as the circles rumbled on in all their corrupt and broken glory. That's a contentious point though, and I understand and am sympathetic to arguments that defer to reformism in the long term. I am just naturally a little bit more 'burn it all!!!' in my outlook though.
With all of that in mind, and considering I haven't heard her thoughts on the matter yet, I think it's in keeping with my overall outlook that I would pick Leliana to be Divine, but it isn't a decision I'll take lightly, and I'll likely pick all 3 at some point (the idea of Viv being Divine feels scandalous - a mage as head of the chantry!! What would Tevinter think! What would the traditional Chantry hierarchy and faithful think? Oh my! I'm looking forward to having a character for whom that decision would make sense).
Wonderful, we just got an email at work telling us how to take care of ourselves in the cold. Tomorrow it's expected to be -4 F - 20 C with a wind chill of -20 F - 29 C
I don't think Sera would approve.
It's going to be pretty close to that here too. April can't get here fast enough!
haha
Tomorrow it gonna drop to -37 around here....thats ....err....celcius stuff...

For the record, I'm a synthesis gal myself, although I've picked control a couple of times. Maybe one day I'll make a Shep who picks destroy, but I haven't been able to do it yet ![]()
Have you read "Buckles". The two last chapters about the break-up are amazing. I'd make it my headcanon for an elven inquisitor. Oh, I wish it were an option in game after the Mythal temple quest *sigh*.
Spoiler
I'm planning on reading this soon!

I agree with much here. It was a "powder keg" and you can't put the egg back together like it was after Anders actions and I am rather sympathetic to the mages (goes along with my politics in general). I wanted to back Leliana but BioWare are tricky and there is a certain thing you must do in convos with her at the start of the game or she goes rogue and at the end of the game it is too late.
I agreed with Leliana's views but not at the cost of her killing anyone and everyone opposed to her view. It really is frightening how extreme she gets if you don't set her on the right path right away.
Cass was sort of a middle ground choice then. But in my first game I was romancing her so I Rp'd my character to selfishly want that to continue plus I felt in her heart of hearts she would always be a warrior or a Seeker and I couldn't take that away from her.
What ended up happening is Leliana's descent towards political extremism or totalitarian views alarmed me and I ended up throwing my support, near the end of the game to Viv, but it did not matter. Leli got the job. This game I did not support the Mages but went with the Templars just to see how that plays out. I am still more sympathetic to the Mages in my heart of hearts though.

and the Geth....dying..sort of...
Especially if ya bother to make peace between them and the quarian....
Thats like a slap in the face...
