My boss was playing the game when it first came out (he doesn't anymore), and I remember he was saying something about Sera. I mentioned that most of what she says makes sense to me and he kind of gave me this look.

It's the same every time BW shoots out a major game. It summons the worst and most hilarious trolls around here.

I'm pretty sure that they will have balanced the number of times each companion can disapprove or approve of a certain action throughout the game in order not to make triggering quests and romances too easy or difficult, so purely based on game mechanics, it's likely that occasionally there'll be a situation where a companion might have (dis)approved based on their character, but don't.
What? Sera was just too busy thinking about the fact she's fighting a MAGISTER and an ARCHDEMON to really pay too much attention.
At large, she approves, but had way bigger problems at the moment than "Yeah, you saved someone who's Random NPC #587462 for the rest of the game. Nice. I approve."
You can tell they're looking for points to score. They're not interested in actually discussing character, only justifying the hate.

Fair point, although when does that behaviour start? Not until after you get Skyhold, I think. They could still be controlling approval early on in order to pace things... All just guesswork, of course.

I finally did the controversial rams quest in Hinterlands last night after over a 100 hours of play. Ok I've just given a load of ram meat to starving refugees in Redcliffe...Cassandra? Ok Sera? *chirping of crickets* Varric? Solas? Come on Solas buddy...really? Now Viv I expect this from but you guys?

Yes... post-Skyhold I think. It would also make sense that crit path things where approval throttled and other things weren't later in development. Maybe.
Another thing to consider is who actually decides what approval gets handed out in these moments. The approval for out of cinematic dialogue things may not necessarily be assigned by a character's writer.
I actually agree with Sera on all the major decisions with the exception of aligning with What's his name' at Mythal. (I am terrible with names)

Hmm...odd. I was looking for who approved after I delivered the ram meat and there was nothing. But there might be some other trigger at work where I needed to do something else to trigger it there. I don't know. It's so random at times,the approvals, or so it appears.
