She got past his wards? She's good...

When an opportunity for a good prank presents itself, no force on Thedas or beyond can stop Sera :P

Off topic, but you know what a 30-year old man doesn't want to hear from his barber? "Oh, you got a couple of gray ones here."  >.<

I blame bsn.

I think I tried KE for about an hour and I was terribly bored. I never liked melee anyway, but I thought I might enjoy it since I played Arcane Warrior in DAO. Then I remembered that even when I was AW, all I did was throw spells around with an occasional half-hearted swing of the sword. So I reloaded an earlier save and ended up playing Rift Mage. They're fun.

My second character was archer tempest, which is (I think) the most I've ever enjoyed an archer. A lot of times I try another character class and... "Oh, I have a sword/knives instead of magic" is kind of like "Oh, a piece of toast instead of chocolate pie." I always end up going back to a magic class (and pie).

But something about all the backflipping and flasks was fun. Probably helped that Sera and I were backflipping together all the time. Share the fun, you know.

So... four characters, two Rift Mage, two Tempests. Maybe I should try playing Varric as Artificer for a bit and see if I like it at all.

I loved rift mage. I take great enjoyment in area of effect spells, and crowd control in general. It's warriors that I've never really liked. Tanks are necessary but I find them dull, and two-handed warriors just don't fit with the type of person I am.

I do like DW rogues though, and that's what I'm playing at the moment on nightmare. It's fun because it's a new experience for me in DAI. I don't really enjoy having them in the team when they are not my character, as you really need to babysit them, and though I do pause and issue orders quite a lot, I don't do it at all times. This means that I never really took Cole out last time around, so basically I'm learning all the DW stuff. Has anyone tried re-speccing him as an archer, by the way?

My one bugbear with playing DW in DAI so far is that with all the knockdowns the other characters initiate, it can be tough to stay behind the enemy that you're attacking!

@Uncle

I respec Cole as an archer everytime. He does great with some range! Give him one of those bows that looks ragged and it's a great look too.

It pains me not to put Sera in my team, but she was there pretty much constantly last time out, and I do want to hear Cole's banters. I'll just have to bite the bullet once I recruit him...

I think I managed to take daggers Cole out without him dying all the time on normal. Though it was probably later game when he has a stack of stealth and less-aggro passives, as well as Lav just clunk-ziiiiiiiiiipppppp-BAM-SHHHNNNK-KAPOW-ing everyone anyway.

I've always had problems with DW rogues that aren't the PC in DA games. I never enjoyed taking Zevran much. I forced myself to take Isabela because she was entertaining but she died on me frequently. DW Hawke, however, was my favourite. I took great pleasure in in the upgraded assassinate/brittle target combo.

Adding to this:

Set Stealth to preferred since Cole crits out of stealth and the cooldown on stealth is removed any time he makes a kill.

It might pay to drop a couple of points in the dagger tree for Dance of Death as well as Looked Like It Hurt from the Sabotage tree just to keep his stamina up to.

Even as an archer though, Cole requires a little micromanaging just to ensure Full Draw or Long Shot isn't wasted.

Just my two cents.

I think I took Archer Cole out a bit. He seemed to do fine. Not like Dorian who keeps running up to guys with two-handed axes and almost dying. I've started to wonder if he's trying to use sarcasm to kill them and just gets too close.

Yeah. I think that's an archer problem in general. "No, Sera! Don't Full Draw that guy with 50 health left!" *too late*

Also: Mage! Stop casting barrier on Cass when she has full guard and you are open to attack!

I don't actually miss tactics, but having abilities which are so conditional in their use makes removing it pretty silly.

Cole has to be my least-used companion. I honestly don't remember taking him along outside of a couple random quests on my first playthrough.

Nothing against his character. Just never felt I had a reason to have more than one rogue in my active party (a spot that's often occupied by Sera).

Oh, Sardaukar, your signature just reminded me: What happens between Morrigan and Flemeth if there's no Kieran or he isn't the OGB?

Or my favourite: "Varric don't Leaping Shot near that cliff!"

I had to look up the Tainted Love version to compare but:

Spoiler

I feel I have to go and make Dark Ritual keep for my next run though, whenever that is.

I'm never ninjaed, I just overkill.

I've made it standard protocol for myself to make sure ANY world state exported into DA:I contains some form of the Dark Ritual. I always thought that was the best conclusion to DA:O and am keeping it that way for all my Keep imports.

I'm using Sera, Cole and Cass/Blackwall almost all the time on my mage play through and Cole hasn't been too bad but I don't play above normal. I've enjoyed the banter with Cole in the party.

Nope.

Dark Ritual just makes for a much better, heartfelt continuation of this story.

Now that I've done it on NM, I've joined the soiree of never going above normal. I just want to kick back and enjoy the scenery.

But, we probably won't see the Hero again. At least the Hero died, doing what they love. Killing Dragons!

The lore implications are interesting but I always find it difficult to justify in context for my Warden.

Archdemons have leap frog souls, there's the  tried and tested way of killing the soul without it leap frogging and then there's Morrigan's hippy sex magic she learned from the mother who tried to kill her and is really a dragon (as far as you know). Do you really want to chance the Archdemon surprise Ridley Scotting Morrigan when she's halfway to Orlais? Okay, none of that happens, but Warden doesn't know that.

Hippy sex magic sounds fun though. I know I wouldn't pass up the opportunity.
