Suddenly I'm picturing them (Sera/Inquisitor) sassing away only for one or both of them to starting being flirty about it, like really, %100 gay jokes and jabs until it might not quite be jokes any more when someone comments on it, something along the lines of "you look at her like she's made of sweetness and sunshine, you realize that right?" etc

 

Don't mind me, I am a big sap.

 

I think that would be pretty awesome way to start a romance actually.

Hmmm... while I'm not sure my own Inquisitor would be making that many jokes, it's a nice concept and would be interesting to run with.

I'm pretty sure Sera will be amazing when it comes to making silly jokes. I generally play my female characters as a mixture of chaotic and lawful, so I'm looking forward to seeing how that pans out with Sera, particularly in terms of how she reacts to it.

So the romance thread has cooled off a bit with the whole race restrictions rumor that may be confirmed but I'm starting to think Sera may be an exception and be available  to any race, she's the first 100% lesbian party member (Samantha Traynor in ME 3 wasn't a party member) so I don't see them restricting her to just elves, at most I'm hoping she can be romanced by any female race since of right now she is female only, not female elf only but if she is restricted I hope she is at least open to female humans also, though I would be interested in romancing her as a female qunari also.

The way I see it is at most Varric and IB will be race gated. I seriously doubt every companion will be (or even more than half the LI's) will be race gated. Over half will probably be gender gated (straight + gay > BI by numbers, even if we get 3 BI Li's), so adding extra restrictions starts getting too restrictive. They probably only included it for Varric (since he already expressed the fact he is only interested in Dwarven girls, and maybe guys), and IB because of sex scene issues. For the rest they could add reasons why they would want to romance only specific characters, but thats extra effort when developing the character (its adding effort to remove content = no-no).

As Sara is already gender gated I doubt you gals have to worry about race issues as well.

I never come up with my own names I just find similarities between the MC and other real or fictional characters. In my latest DAO I couldn't resist naming him Stephen (Amell), get it?

In DA2 I named Hawke Talwin after Talon of The Silver Hawk in my most recent play through.

My female Qunari mage Inquisitor will be named Farideh.

If there is race gating I think it would be with a character that was bisexual, or else you start to pile up too many restrictions and the number of players pursuing that content drops further. My guess is if characters have preferences regarding species as well, that it won't be a factor with most of the straight and lesbian romance options. It also would serve to give bisexual characters some preferences rather than an 'anyone and everyone' approach.

I agree...I don't think there's going to be any race gating with Sera.  

 

She seems like the easiest to make open to all races.  Sera doesn't come off as super Andrastian (so shouldn't have a strong anti-qunari bias).  I'm not even sure what her religion is or how strongly she believes.  I assume she believes in the Maker but is not all that religious. 

 

I could see an elf being cut off from romancing a human but there's nothing to indicate that Sera has strong negative feelings towards humans.

This is what I believe too, bi characters will probably be the ones with the race gating.

I'm similar, but I also make some of my female characters romance dudes (as long as there is at least one female in the romance I'm fairly comfortable with it, I just can't get myself to initiate a m/m romance arc).

I honestly don't see why so many people seem to think Varric will be race gated if he's a romance.

 

Why, because he had that ONE line in DA2 about not being into humans? I didn't get the impression he was completely serious there.
