On hard I didn't find him to be a difficult fight at all. Just eliminate his lieutenants quickly and then grind him down slowly... Then again I use tac cam as a matter of course in a boss fight...

I hear the tac cam plays poorly on PC. Is that true?

A friend of mine was having issues with it when he first got the game, among other PC controls things.

They claimed you could zoom to everywhere on the battle-map with it. I've found it's range much more limited than say Mike Laidlaw suggested. Plus it tends to get hung up on anything in the way like large rocks. I still use it but not as much as I did in Origins where I always went right to it at a fights start.

I hear it too. It's not my experience, but I hear it. Maybe I'm just weird...

Those issues aren't PC specific, though. It's supposedly difficult to control, which I don't find at all.

I can't really compare it to console, but I use it a lot on PC. I just like to sort of look around, and if someone squishy has rushed in (I'm looking at you, Dorian) I can move them out to a better position. It certainly doesn't go high enough, but I use it.

eta: It does get weird trying to navigate around objects, though

I occasionally use tac cam, but mostly just to pause things while I use a potion or to swap into another character.

For the most part I just run face first into battle... with lots of pointy things.

I definitely noticed the limited range on Xbox One. It's also super annoying when it gets hung up on terrain and/or large objects.

Yup. My problems are that it should zoom out further and it shouldn't need to follow the terrain like a character walking, but those are issues with the tac cam in general, not PC specific.

Those are my biggest complaints about it. I use it a lot like Wintery does i.e. for reconnaissance or to move a mage out of the way of a dragon etc. But I don't use it as much as I hoped I would.

veeia said the other day that she finds it easier to use the tac cam on PC since she got a controller, but I never found it hard...

Well then maybe we need Phoenix to be more specific about what he means by "plays poorly on pc?"

The movement constraints are weird, but then you generally don't want see a terrain mesh from the inside - it's kind of funky.

I hate tac cam on PC, it's so counterintuitive to use. Now that I have a controller, it's still a mess but it doesn't make me want to set things on fire.

Crim, I'm a county girl too. Well right now I'm living in a major city, and it's fun, but I'm all about country bumpkins, which is why I'm so fond of the Dalish and Merrill and Blackwall, lmao.

Yeah. I'm sure it's so that you don't break the rendering, but it makes it annoying.

Do you have any issues with companions ignoring your hold commands, I tried doing the one quest in some dark dungeon where you need the companions stationed at different spots but they don't listen to my inquisitors, finally gave up.

Edit: don't know if I'm doing something wrong or if it's an issue with Xbox one.

Because Sera is like Hawkeye, because they are both archers and that is kind of their Thing.

Also, unlike the movie, in the comics Hawkeye is a bit of a comedian.

No it's an issue with tac cam. Hold is very very hard to get to work properly. Someone wrote up a guide on reddit or the combat thread, I can't remember where, and had this complex system for it and I was like blink blink ummmm well cool but I'll just skip that.

Which is sad because if you could get it to work better, you could do really cool things with it

It works if you do it from the tac cam, but they won't stay if you order them from the radial menu in action cam.

I've found they get interrupted from the hold command quite easily. In dragon fights I can order hold and advance time and it would stick, but dropping out of TacCam seemed to loose it at some point. Not to mention that teleporting companions outside of combat has all kinds of jankiness associated with it.

I don't have details since I never played on PC. I was going by what I heard in passing from PC players.

Having said that, most issues associated with PC controls that I've heard of have to do with keyboard-mouse controls specifically, meaning if you switch to a controller, they're gone.

That happens. I was able to do that puzzle eventually, but you need to make sure you control each companion individually and manually assign them to the spots. They will not be standing there forever for some reason, so you'll also need to be quick about it.

I can't get it to work properly even in tac-cam!

Is that the one in Exalted Plains that I hated? Different spots in the room, and the... statues...

Hold does seem a bit whimsical. "Okay we'll hold this time, but only for a moment."

Theres a cheat engine mod that increases the zoom out of tac cam. Very nice.

A part of me wishes that they'd get rid of tac cam and just replace it with the system from Mass Effect. In Mass Effect, I can disable ability use by the AI and use my companions abilities manually through the pause screen. It would be so much easier to control my party this way than having to switch to them or use tac cam.

Yeah he's always pranking his friends in an effort to keep them humble or help them out.

My favorite was in an old issue of Captain America, when Steve had grown disillusioned and hung up his cape, so Clint dressed up in a wig and costume and pretended to be a super villain and followed Steve around yelling vaguely threatening poetry until Steve finally tried to fight him and Clint was like SEE!!?? SUPER GUYS ARE WHERE ITS AT " (actual quote) and Steve was like "wtf also...you're right..""

He is the Sera, no doubt. Dorian is def Tony. Cullen is kind of the Steve, maybe. Viv is...a meaner Wasp. IB is Thor or Hercules. Varric is Spider-Man. Solas is Dr Strange. Cole is...Vision? Idk. I'll stop, lmao.
