I just always chose to believe the "Cerberus" logo was a logo for one of their shell companies.

Of course, that isn't true, but it helped me sleep at night.

I thought it was the logo for Cord-Hislop Aerospace? But that could be wrong.

Stupid death plot forcing my paragon Shep to work with them.  <_<

I used to think that. Then I played ME3, and realized I missed working with Cerberus because the Alliance is so freakin' boring.

Anyway, on Sera! If my hypothesis about companion loyalty confrontations over certain major issues is correct, do you think she'll clash with Vivienne over what to do with Orlais?

So basically, Sera is funny-Hawke and Solas is Carver?

Carver was whiny and felt over shadowed and less loved, his life determined and dictated by the needs of his mage siblings.

I'm interested to see our Solas gets along with "fun" characters like Sera and Iron Bull. I really want the three of them in my party. Or Sera, Varric, and Solas.

It would be neat if he feels big brotherly towards her and we get treated to adorable dialogues between him and Varric. (I'm picturing the way Varric secretly took care of everyone in da2, it was adorable!) Of course, that might require her not being in the party at the time.

I just really don't want any moments like having Fenris and Merrill in the same party. If my Hawke could have turned around and socked him in the jaw she would have.

Does Sera actually need that? She's far more street-smart and seems older than Merrill. Hell, she'd be more likely to fill Varric's role in a city when dealing with Solas than the other way around.

Someone being capable doesn't mean that someone else won't care for them in a younger sibling way. Also, everyone as their weak points. So, as a mob boss in her city, i would not expect any of them to try and jump in on a situation like that.

But threatening the Inquisitor not to break Sera's heart? Absolutely.

Understandable, then.

I think my favorite line from Hawke to Varric on that subject is "In all the time I've known you, have I ever given you the impression that I was turned off by crazy?"

That conversation was so awkward to me. The relationships really were very dysfunctional. It might be part of why everyone wanted to romance Varric so badly. He was the only person in the game you could potentially have had a healthy relationship with.

*on topic, I really hope the romance with Sera is healthy! Especially since she is our first true f/f LI.

I will contend that the romance with Merrill (i.e. the only one I've played, can't speak for the others) wasn't unhealthy at all, at least on the friendship path. There were no issues within or about the relationship, just a tangential issue with the Eluvian for Merrill, and that doesn't really speak to romantic health one way or another.

I think it depends on what are option are I'd think.

Vivienne will be loyal to Celene I'd suppose.

I'm not sure if Sera would have a stronger preference for Celene or Gaspard.

I noticed this bit about Sera

"Sera fights for those caught in the middle, but she also needs order restored. The world has to be normal so she can play."

Maybe an elven faction lead by Briala might be a third option?

That might be possible but I'm not expecting that option.

I'm assuming the best option for the elves will be to put Celene on the throne with the caveat that she'll work towards reform.  Meh, not ideal.

The conclusion of "The Masked Empire" lead me to think it might be plausible for the elves to be a third option.

Being limited to Celene or Gaspard would be disappointing. I wouldn't have a problem leaving Celene and Gaspard to fend for themselves in their civil war while my Dalish Inquisitor helps the elves, optimally gaining back control of the Dales so they don't have to deal with purges, religious intolerance, or unfair laws (like the one in Ferelden that prohibits defending an elf against a human). I think Sera would have a lot to comment about if such a course of action was possible, but no matter what's available to the player, I have no interest in helping restore the Orlesian Empire in my first run.

Same. I don't think we will be left with an ideal option. In terms of the elves, I think that at best, we might level the playing field with all 3 parties if you choose to work with Briala, not necessarily gain an upper hand over both Celene and Gaspard.

I would like to have this option for my Dalish Inquisitor as well but not going to get my hopes up that they'll let us do something too radical.  The mage/templar issue seems like it might be an either/or from what we've heard so I will go in expecting the same here.

I'm not sure where Sera would stand on this.  She doesn't seem personally invested in any elven revolution.  It seems like she'd be satisfied if things went back to the way they were with Celene in charge.  It's possible her opinions could change at some point.  She'll definitely have comments about the issue (and probably everything else tbh...she won't hold back).

While I agree having such an option would be great, I don't see something that extreme offered as an in-game choice. It's more likely that restoring order to the Empire is part of the main plot, and how you deal with the situation affects the Dales to a certain extent, but the end result is the same (i.e. Orlais is back on its feet). At least I'm not going to be expecting much more than that for now.

Sera would undoubtedly have something say on the matter, though she doesn't seem like the type that exhibits particular interest in politics in general, even if it involves the elves.

Letting the elves take their own slice would still be restoring order if you end the war in doing so.

I see it more likely to be like the Dwarven choice pair. We had the option to support Bhelen or Harrowmont and seperately Anvil or no Anvil.

I think Briala's faction will work like the Anvil, we will have the option to support either Celene or Gaspard, and seperately we can support Briala's rebels or crush them. There is absolutely no way they'd allow us to attempt to prop up an elf on the throne of Orlais.

We don't need one, just an independent Dales.

I liked the Merrill romance, but Isabela is my personal favorite in DA 2

Not really what Briala was fighting for, she doesn't want a restored Dalish Kingdom, or any elven kingdom. She wants elves to be equal in Orlais. She considers herself Orliasan, it doesn't seem likely she would want to abandon Orlais completely, she just wants to fix it.

I think it just depends on how things play out internally. I certainly don't expect it to be so black and white.

Is it possible you could get a boon for the elves in general- so you could either have an independent Dales or citizen status for the city elves. That would be an interesting quandary.
