This thread took a turn to the wild crazy chaotic wonderful, not unlike Sera herself so, go figure.

 

Gimme a sec to get my brain wrapped around everything that's going on whilst dodging the flying tampons.

On a completely random unrelated tangent, ('cause at this point, why not?)

 

With all the lame hate threads I wanted to take a look at some of the crap that people were complaining about. This meant YouTube'ing stuff that I would never actually do in any of my playthroughs,  i.e. break up with Sera, kick her out of the inquisition, or just not let her in to begin with.

 

And I've come to realize 2 things...

 

First, I'm convinced that most people who hate Sera simply don't understand her. Oh sure they see all the things that she disagrees with and dislikes, and how she calls it all stupid and wants to avoid it. And of course they're insulted by the fact that she's more then willing to disagree with you and be totally blunt about it. All the while they completely miss the reasons WHY she feels this way, WHY she acts like she acts. All they see is her breaking up with you; they don't see all the pain she's going through at the moment, and all the bad experiences in her past that it hints at. 

 

Second, Sweet maker it's painful to watch those videos, makes me feel for her so much. All that pain and heartache; they gave her this ever so subtle pained expression in her face that just broke my heart. Seriously I felt bad just watching it, so much so that I had to load up the game just so I could go hug her and make her feel better.

 

That was probably weird and all, but hey, free Sera hugs so it's all good.

Forget Eleven or Dwarven names, try coming up with good Qunari names. What do we even use? lol

 

In highsight, I was too harsh about Qunari looks. Yes, the male Qunari look a bit too much like awkward gorilla while walking but the American voice is just so perfect for a Qunari. And Vitaar is an awesome DPS boost for mages (who need it early game).

 

Plus its fun to tower over enemies as a knight enchanter.

 

P.S. I may have started another Qunari, hence my change in opinion. lol This game keeps making me make new characters. Garrrr. lol

Shes really not that bad. Shes less crazy then she seems at first glance. Get to know Sera and its pretty obvious she sticks around for the same reason Varric does. They may not be particularly religious types but they have faith in the Inquisition, especially the Inquisitor themselves.

Hence, why I said. I have a confession to make. It shames me to say that I have fallen off the Horny Adaar banwagon. lol

My next playthrough is definitely a Sera + Adaar one though.

I was never on it. I'm not sure I'll ever make a Qunari. I just don't feel it... (Sorry, Alexia.)

God, why is the Hinterlands so huge and so many other areas notably smaller. It feels like the same problem DA: 2 had. Making act 1 overly large. Its not even that the hinterlands has that many quests. Really, that map is just absurdly huge. lol When they say the hinterlands is bigger than all of origins.......I believe it. lol

I have a confession to make. I don't hate fetch quests, and I adore wandering around the big maps in DAI. *runs away*

Some of us happen to have an extreme dislike for her.....and I do not find her intimidating. She is immature in many ways, yes, and there are many better ways, imo, for a person in general to express themselves and achieve their goals. She herself says she is selfish, which sometimes she is.

In real life, I would strongly dislike her as a person, because she is an adult I feel like she should put the immature behavior behind her and deal with problems in different ways, and certainly not pre-judge people because of their social class.

I feel Sera is an extremely flawed person, with some really deep rooted issues from her upbringing and in her belief structure that cause those flaws.

Which makes her a great, realistic, and certainly different character and a great addition to the companions in DA.

Its just very grating for me to actually have her in my party or talk to her. She reminds me too much of some of the teenagers and children I have dealt with, so perhaps that is why.

I certainly think she belongs in the game I wouldn't have her be any other way but herself.

If all the people who didn't like Sera articulated themselves like this then there'd be zero problems, at least for me.

Nah, Serenity is five years earlier, and more importantly it has the better space battle.
