It'll be interesting to see how Sera interacts with Cole... and to find out why she hates him. I assume it's because of the demon thing, which i don't blame her at all for not trusting demons.

Yeah, before today I was thinking she'd be my go-to Rogue, but after learning about Cole and Sera's reaction to him(which screams hypocritical to me) I'm going to use Cole now.

See, what's got me curious is this; is Sera's dislike of Cole meant to be a character flaw on her part, or a sign that Cole isn't what he seems to be?

[DA]: You mentioned that the player can choose not to have Cole join the Inquisition. Are the other followers going to have an opinion?
[PW]: Oh, Maker, yes. Vivienne thinks Cole should be safely banished, and Sera refuses to talk to "it" entirely.
Apparently Sera will hate Cole.
That's got me liking Sera more than I already did!

Former_Fiend made an interesting post about their relationship in the Cole Thread.
About wether "Sera's reaction towards Cole is meant to be a character flaw on her part, or if it's meant to be a warning to the player's that Cole isn't as benevolent as he seems to be, and Sera's our resident evil-detecting blood-hound"

Welp... I'm neutral on this one. I don't auto-hate spirits/entities/whatever, mostly from curiosity and such... but I find it totally reasonable for other people to. I don't see it as so much a flaw in her as something kind of common, especially at the time this all takes place. I see most reactions as fear more than hatred, although they can go hand-in-hand.

Indeed.
Though, who knows. Sera might grow to like him in the meantime.

I'm glad to see characters not like or trust other characters imho
True. They seem a lot more real in that regard. Doesn't mean I won't smack em' down if they p!ss me off though.

Sera is supposed to be the representative for the 'common folk' and they typically haven't had the best experience with demons, magic, things from the Fade, whatever. Sera might not be too trusting of magic in general. The poor of Thedas typically don't ever see the benefits of magic (ex, healing) but only the negatives...like demons destroying their town.

So, conflict with Magequisitor confirmed?
Would definitely make for an interesting addition.

It's SO easy to judge Sera, we know Cole from the book, she doesn't. I think it's normal to mistrust him, I mean, he is something like a demon... give her a break! In real life you don't make friends with the first serial killer that tells you "I simply don't know what I am".

Huh, that's true and makes quite a lot of sense
What good spirits and demons have ever done to simple folk? Nothing

Not really digging Sera referring to Cole has "it". Mostly because it plays out in my head like two people(usually children) who have conversations through other people, ex: "person x tells person y to tell person z blah blah"
I do hope I'm seeing it wrong and Sera just more or less takes the adult approach and ignores Cole's existence. But she looks fairly young so I'll take a wait and see approach here.

Sera: IT SURE WOULD BE GREAT IF MY LOST SHOES WOULD BE FOUND. MAYBE ON THAT TABLE TO THE LEFT

Well, who's to say we won't be able to change her views as the game progresses?
Ideally, it should work like Ashley's situation in ME1, where she initially dislikes aliens (particularly with Garrus and Tali's presence on board) and you have the option to either encourage or discourage her stance each time you speak to her, and by the end of the game this effect becomes visible on her character (at least to a certain extent).
That seems like it would work in Sera's case, but of course not without some assumptions.

Heck, Shale called the Warden "it" for the majority of DA:O, but things seemed to work out okay between them. There's precedent for hope.

I never expected Sera to behave perfectly based on the info we've gotten about her to this point, but I'm actually all for that. We have Cassandra, Blackwall and possibly Solas to be our mature and level-headed companions. She probably will be a bit immature in her interactions with Cole at first but if my Inquisitor has an option to help remedy that eventually, it shall be done.

Ugh, why people are pressing poor girl into liking Cole?
So what if she doesn't?
Why does she have to bend to your Inquisitor's mighty opinion?
Maybe she never will, maybe she will like Cole
It's Sera's decision and her character development and she isn't wrong or right for having an opinion

Nah I would never force anything, I would just like an option to perhaps help with a natural transition into getting along better with him. If that's not for her, I'm not going to dislike her character. I'm just someone who isn't a fan of in-party tension so if I can take a peacemaker route, I probably will.

I'm wondering if something bad and demony happened, connected to the scenes we saw in the trailer.
edit: Though presumably bad demony things are happening to a lot of people, what with the veil tears and all that. Bad time to be a sort of demony guy, I guess.

Well, there are corpses coming back to life in the Dales, and the trailer shows Sera fighting undead in what appears to be the Dales. She might be wary about Cole because of this. A traditional Dalish (who sees all spirits of the Beyond as dangerous) or Vashoth (who may adhere to the Qunari view of the Fade as the Land of the Dead) might have similar reservations about Cole.
And things change. Isabela and Aveline are just one example of how two people can slowly become friends over time.
