Yeah, before today I was thinking she'd be my go-to Rogue, but after learning about Cole and Sera's reaction to him(which screams hypocritical to me) I'm going to use Cole now.

Why do you think is hypocrital?
I don't see the problem with her not liking or hating him, unless she goes too far. And we don't know the reason why she feels the way.

Ugh, why people are pressing poor girl into liking Cole?

So what if she doesn't?

Why does she have to bend to your Inquisitor's mighty opinion?

Maybe she never will, maybe she will like Cole

It's Sera's decision and her character development and she isn't wrong or right for having an opinion

Depends on the opinion.

I like Cole and am not bothered with Sera not liking him (And I'm loving Sera so far)

Characters not liking the characters I like doesn't hold any change in my opinion on them because all because I like a character doesn't mean they have to be 'perfect' to what I'd want from them, or who I'd like to get along.

It didn't for Morrigan. I loved Morrigan and I loved Wynne. Morrigan never got on with Wynne and it didn't change how I loved either characters. Maybe a part of me wanted them to eventually see eye to eye on somehting, maybe Morrigan realizing Wynne is worthy of respect--but nope. And it fits Morrigan.

Another example, Jack and Miranda. I love BOTH the characters, they didn't get along.

To the point; Sera is still awesome to me.

This is just how I feel. And I'm not saying anyone is wrong if they do change their opinion 83

Well, she has been hated for what she is despite her having no choice in the matter, yet she hates Cole for what he is despite him having no choice in the matter.

Hypocritical may not be the best word, but it still feels apt to me. Like you said, she may have other reasons but we don't know those yet so I'm working with the info I have.

Well, there are corpses coming back to life in the Dales, and the trailer shows Sera fighting undead in what appears to be the Dales. She might be wary about Cole because of this. A traditional Dalish (who sees all spirits of the Beyond as dangerous) or Vashoth (who may adhere to the Qunari view of the Fade as the Land of the Dead) might have similar reservations about Cole.

And things change. Isabela and Aveline are just one example of how two people can slowly become friends over time.

Not gonna lie, even if it is a silly cliche... I love the friendship-over-time stuff. Especially with polar opposites like Isabela and Aveline. Much awwwing on that one from my end. It may not happen, but I do hope for it right now. My opinion on Cole is still pretty neutral.

In your opinion

So people who think for example homosexuals are the work of the devil and don't hire or serve them because of it are right because it is their opinion?

Sera is supposed to be the representative for the 'common folk' and they typically haven't had the best experience with demons, magic, things from the Fade, whatever.  Sera might not be too trusting of magic in general.  The poor of Thedas typically don't ever see the benefits of magic (ex, healing) but only the negatives...like demons destroying their town.

Yeah, many of  the common folk don't understand the world beyond what the Chanty's told them, it'd make sense, given Sera's upbringing, for her to be wary of magic, she likely hasn't come in contact with it very often, and we tend to fear the unknown.

Did you just compare real people suffering to a fictional character calling a fictional demonic serial killer character "it"?
Way to go, show us your fangirlism :D

Yes I did, because it is the same principle. No fangirling required since I would say this about any character calling something else 'it'. People used to think people of other races were 'its' as well, yet their opinion was wrong.

I don't recall it was stated she's hated for what she is. I might've missed it in the interview.

Sasha pls

stop comparing these types of things to actual struggles, it's very insulting

Well, he's technically a spirit/demon/whatever in the middle. They're not supposed to have a gender.
Granted, it can be used as an insult, but we don't know that yet. As we don't know if Cole cares about or how he addresses himself.

If, for example, her first meeting with Cole is watching him slaughter a group of innocent civilians, it would not be hypocritical for her to judge him, because being born an elf or being a spirit is not the same as making the decision to kill people.  Whether he has a reason or not for murdering people, she's entitled to judge, and dislike him.

Of course, if she meets him while he's helping innocents, and never knows anything about his past, and still judges him and distrusts him, then she *might* be unfair in how she views him.  I say might because I know his past, and as the player, I certainly don't trust him.

She is a Elf in Thedas. She is hated by some humans for being an elf. I think the lore has been clear on that point by now.

If you can give me fictional versions of these types of things to use, I'll gladly use those instead.

There's none that I can think of other than Anders in DA2 but I mean, it doesn't touch close to what you described. Cole is unknown right now.

After Justice/Vengeance + Anders in DA2, I'll have a hard time trusting a spirit/demon/whatever as well. Cole sounds like an intriguing character though.

It makes sense that Sera wouldn't want to associate with Cole. How many people, that have more than likely never been exposed to something like that, wouldn't react the same way?

I'm pretty sure it wasn't because I was a spirit/demon tbh.

Imo every person should have the right to hate/love anyone for whatever reason they think is valid.

It isn't really the same, in Sera's POV it makes perfect sense to why she wouldn't trust and not like Cole and call him a "it" since he is a spirit

Yeah, I was just being broad since we don't know the details yet.
