My first TES game was Morrowind... and yeah, I grabbed all the crap too. haha.

I disliked Oblivion actually. Just butt ugly. Skyrim won me over again.

skyrim was boring to me because it had no company or rather no banter. it was just me and lydia...or Aeia...or Jenessa...and that one dude until he died in a cave. I don't necessarily like that lone wolf mentality...when I'm gaming at least. I did enjoy using my "voice" though.

why was there a pack of wolves in the Emerald Graves that magically disappeared as I approached them? that has happened in a lot of areas.

I've noticed this in general, mainly in the Hinterlands, but enemies will spawn on the very edge, and then suddenly disappear, like one part of the game is auto generating them, but another part is like "no that quest hasn't triggered or that quest is already completed so those enemies shouldn't be there" and overrides it and they disappear.

Idk...

but I don't....? Maybe its because I put so much headcanon into these stories...for me the old games you only got one story, and if you didn't like how that story worked, too bad..

these games..they are versatile enough that I can mix game choices with headcannon and create this complete awesome story for myself....but yeah there is a lot of headcanon in there...so maybe thats the difference.....I put so much story of my own into these that they are better to me than the old games....where I couldn't insert my own story

I didnt say ya dont....

But peoples are different . I dont headcannon anything but bewbz . If I have to Imagine stuff in my brain...I go read a Book . The game supposed to give me my fun...I want out of my brain for a reason . If I have to play a game and keep this story in my brain..why I'm playing for ? I just stay there...

I'm not saying your way is bad or anything . But thats why I couldnt stick with Skyrim......

and I really did try !!! I imagined alot of charachter and made them....and everything . But I just get so bored....I need a goal ! the rush ! where is it ? oh yeah..not there go explore......its painfulllllllll  :(

I love the TES games, for what they are, which is essentially a sandbox I can play around with by modding. Anyone who tries to argue they're some kind of intellectual paradise is gonna get a sideye from me though. Morrowind, maaaaybe, but Beth sidelined that element a long time ago, and while you can reconstruct interesting ideas from codexes...you can do that in Dragon Age too. People are living in the past on that one, and leaning heavy on their fanboy crutches. It's a great series for specific things and I will defend it against baseless accusations and Skyrim's validity as an interesting game, but...the degree to which people will reach to defend their RPG of choice (see also: Witcher) is amazing to me. These are all incredibly flawed games with some successes and a lot of failures, and really it should come down to personal tastes...because it's videogames...

The thing that keeps fueling TES to be interesting at all, intellectually.. is Michael Kirkbride. He wrote most of Morrowind and a lot of the lore that still drives Skyrim is his.. even if he's long gone.

Ugh. Spiders. Kill it with fire!

Wait, now that I'm thinking about it, isn't "Kill it with fire" an Alien quote...?

(No links, I have no need for nightmares, just a yes or no.)

Oh no, I know you didn't, wasn't saying that!  just talking out loud, working through the discussion.  both ways are good, no better or worse, to judgement calls..

and thats exactly the difference right there, I want a 'book' I can play through, so I wan't my games to be like Books..but Books that I get to half-write myself..

I get getting bored with Skyrim....I can even get bored with Skyrim...

Don't you hate it when you're in the middle of an online game and your internet decides to take a sh*t over everything you've done.

I found the lore of TES very compelling and fascinating. I don't think they've realized it's true potential in game though. Loved Skyrim but I didn't feel as connected to the characters or as invested.

It's funny how imperfect these games are. Skyrim's towns felt more alive and DA's very static and fake and yet DA's characters have more depth and there's more potential to interact with them.
