I saw what they were tring to do 'no matter what' your hawke is depressed and angry because of kirkwall' It would make sense for 99% of hawkes, but the anger about blood-magic for blood mage hawke was really stupid.

Blood mage Hawke is kind of stupid to begin with. Along with Templar Hawke and Reaver Hawke, probably Spirit Healer Hawke as well.

It's amazing how a simple phrase can immediately evoke a song. Well, it can for me, at least. But anyway, Sera's eyes are a blue-grey, no? That's another reason why that other pic looks like it might be manipulated/processed to me. Super-bright blue eyes.

No, not just you.

I think they're straight grey but it's hard to be sure. They aren't fond of straight up mug shots and she's often shown in pretty but unclear lighting. I haven't ever got the proper staring into the storm sensation though.

What are your favorite race class combinations to play? Just curious what everyone is play.

For me its probably Qunari mage - Knight Enchanter

DW rogue Dwarf - Assassin.

No, I don't use the healing from Knight Enchanter. I just really love how attentive you have to be while playing a KE. Not as much DPS as a DW rogue but its a lot of fun. Spamming spirit blade to reduce the cooldown of Fade Cloak and fire mine. Fun times.

I love AOE and crowd control powers so I really enjoyed Rift Mage.

I can see how one might enjoy KE but I don't really like Vivienne in my party on higher levels precisely because it needs such tight control. I like tightly controlling my PC but despite using tac cam a lot I don't want to babysit the rest of my team to the degree that's necessary for a squishy melee character.

I haven't experienced all the rogue specialisations properly because Sera never left my party in my first PT. I'm going to try Assassin with Aidan, though.

Elf and Human both make more sense to me as the inquisitor lore-wise, but I'm looking forward to giving dwarf a try on my next PT. Playing as a Qunari never held much fascination for me. I feel no connection with them.

I'll agree that Human and Elf make the most sense lore wise but since DA 2 introduce me to Horned Qunari and the Arishok, I've been in love with Qunari and praying to play a Horned Giant myself. Doesn't fit the lore of the game but DAMN, I look SMEXY! Ataash Qunari!

P.S. I still find the run animation of the male Qunari a bit awkward. Hello there mr. gorilla.

Mostly because it's an excuse to post a variety of Sera pics... I do see a hint of blue although they are more grey I think.

Indeed, my snarky Marian had no problem with blood mages, only those who kill. Hell, Merrill was her BFF.

To see her rant about blood mages as if all blood mages are like this AND grey wardens since her bro is one, was a bit cringeworthy. Bae, say something funny and stop generalizing smh.

Besides, where's her constant snark? She kept snarking everyone in DA2 and suddenly went oh so serious with a bit of snark in it. Sigh. Oh well, I still love her to bits.

Now i can understand why previous protags shouldn't be NPC's, especially if they had different personality. I bet the HoF is going to be helluva lot difficult if they do a DLC with her.

Spoiler

Tried my best to make her look as much closer to DA2 Marian and it worked. I think.

And they even got her eye color wrong.. Like come on, her color was bright blue or icey blue and you give her dark blue? Pls, dat eye color is hard to avoid, i'm baffled by the wrong eye color tbh.

Rambling through the night’s passing posts.

Snarky Hawke kind of worked for me in DAI. From the way I played her, and imagining the things that have happened since, it didn’t feel off. Maybe my headcannon just got lucky.

(That last sentence doesn’t quite work, but it’s morning)

The whole blood mage thing seems inconsistent though, not just from one character's perspective. Doesn't quite work for me but I can't put that into words. There will never be a time when I side with Templars because hello serious abuse of authority. So it almost felt like the story (in DA2) was saying to me "No look, there's a balance here because see what the mages are doing when they get desperate? Look at all the evil!" I remain unconvinced, and I say that as someone never tempted to play a blood mage.

Elder Scrolls never did much for me. I just never felt the world, and it seemed like kind of a lonely journey with your pack mule companion (I am sworn to carry your burdens). The part of Skyrim I actually felt invested in was the Dark Brotherhood quest, and that was because there was a sense of companionship in the little group of assassins… but you really have no choice in how that goes.

I like Rift Mage a lot, with Tempest second. My first character was an elf, but a sort of agnostic elf who doesn’t really feel all that connected to the reconstructed lore they’re all trying to keep afloat. Dwarf… I really wish there had been more Carta stuff. So much potential there for being the ex-smuggler and having that come up. Still in my dwarf playthrough.

I love those final images from the Seramance playthrough because she seems happy. Not joking or pranking or planning a job or working through stuff… just happy. At peace, if only for a while.

They were pretty desperate to make everyone equally 'evil' so they made a lot of half-arsed retcons (first the the gift of magic is dying out among the Dalish in DAO, leading them to exchange gifted children with other clans, and now they have suddenly so many mages that some clans can afford to kick out extra mages? Does not compute). The writing quality just ain't what it used to be during the heyday of Bioware :/

Yeah I loved that feeling. I got the same vibe from Leliana, too. It's a shame that there aren't cinematic conversations with all the companions and advisors at the victory party.

I'd like to see Cass happily drunk instead of angrily so. Heck, I'd like to see everyone drunk! Or maybe hungover the morning after...

Edit: Certainly Aidan isn't going to see that. Roleplaying a nice Andrastian leads to Cass Approval at every turn... Once they finally get to Skyhold she's going to be all over him. ;)

Yeah, looking back I think of Hawke's tone choices largely as different defense mechanisms for all the weird that was Kirkwall - and then it all goes even more wrong. Dark snarky Hawke in Inquisition seems to be the logical continuation of that.

For the most part I thought DA2 did a reasonable job of saying 'hey maybe policing mages so they don't spontaneously combust isn't a terrible idea' but they kind of threw it all away by the third act when even the Templars were getting blood crazy.

Nsfw

Correct.

See, and I felt like Blood Mage Hawke was the best fit in DA2...

I mean not evil Blood mage Hawke.

But mage Hawke who is already an apostate, befriends Merril, learns about blood magic, doesn't use it often because of the danger, but still has it in his arsenal.  It just fits for me, makes him all the more willing to sympathize with Anders.  The whole story of DA2 felt, to me anyway, like it was  intended for a rebel mage Hawke, that while Anders is the extremist who goes to far, his principals and cause are the same as Hawkes.  So adding a little blood magic to the Apostate, especially given a non-evil blood mage in Merril to learn from, just made sense to me.

Plus even the trailer has him using Blood Magic to defeat the Arishok.

Doesn't she get drunk if you are a mage automatically?  I mean she was drunk the very first time I talked to her at Skyhold with my Lavellan mage.  I didn't even think I did anything.  She and my Lavellan really...really... did not get along though, but that was mostly after the drunkeness.  My Lavellan already didn't trust her.

She locks her up assuming she's guilty, she's a shemlen seeker, and now after siding with my lavellan and giving her the chance to close the breach and after lavellan saved haven, she's getting all drunk and angry just because my lavellan isn't the hero she was hoping for...

Yeah..from Lavellan's point of view, just lost all respect for Cass.

((side note: I enjoy Cass and like her in general, my Inquisitors opinions do not reflect my own))

Talking of approval, I note that you get a "Sera slightly disapproves" for putting the Andraste flag highest in "Champions of the Just." Not just a neutral reaction, but active disapproval. This shows that she's actually against putting Andrastean faith above belief in the people, which is interesting. Another reason why I find it hard to believe that she's thinking of a literal interpretation of the Chant of Light when arguing with a Dalish Inquisitor post-Mythal. She believes in Andraste, but I don't think she's a chapter and verse kind of girl at all.

I've yet to see that side of her. The only sour note I've ever hit with her or where I felt she was a bit hurtful towards my Inquisitors is where she basically says in front of you to Varric that it was Hawke she wanted in your spot all along and that he was the hero she felt the Inquisition needed to lead.

It is a shame there isn't a dialogue option to say "Helloo I am right here you know?! Just the person whose been sealing breaches and killing demons for ya!"

But I haven't seen her drunk or angry outside of that angry scene with Varric.

Okay, look.  You all just don't get it. Bioware doesn't get it.

My Warden..My true Warden not the other play throughs. He was the shiiiit....he was......*continuous unadulterated exposition expounding upon heroic virtue, fair-mindedness, expert skills, and true superiority of my Dalish DW Rogue Warden.........and some more exposition......now some drum beating.......further exposition.......demands that bioware support my headcanon and have my warden come back to prove he is stronger than Hawke or the Inquisitory....*

....

...

...

*10 hours later*

And thats why he was just AWESOME.

and no...I am not too attached my Warden Headcanon...not at all...why would you say such a thing.. *shifty eyes*
