Doesn't she get drunk if you are a mage automatically?  I mean she was drunk the very first time I talked to her at Skyhold with my Lavellan mage.  I didn't even think I did anything.  She and my Lavellan really...really... did not get along though, but that was mostly after the drunkeness.  My Lavellan already didn't trust her.

She locks her up assuming she's guilty, she's a shemlen seeker, and now after siding with my lavellan and giving her the chance to close the breach and after lavellan saved haven, she's getting all drunk and angry just because my lavellan isn't the hero she was hoping for...

Yeah..from Lavellan's point of view, just lost all respect for Cass.

((side note: I enjoy Cass and like her in general, my Inquisitors opinions do not reflect my own))

Nope. It'll be because you allied with the mages I bet. You get a "Greatly disapproves" for that. Tressa conscripted them as she thought they'd screwed up quite badly. Also, Cass admits her mistake in locking you up way before Skyhold. Tressa accepted her apology and could see why she did what she did with the information available to her. If your Lavellan was an ass with her even when she was apologising, then I'd say that's her fault not Cassandra's.

Aidan's going to take an approval hit for not allying with the Templars, but that'll be the first he's had.

I've yet to see that side of her. The only sour note I've ever hit with her or where I felt she was a bit hurtful towards my Inquisitors is where she basically says in front of you to Varric that it was Hawke she wanted in your spot all along and that he was the hero she felt the Inquisition needed to lead.

It is a shame there isn't a dialogue option to say "Helloo I am right here you know?! Just the person whose been sealing breaches and killing demons for ya!"

But I haven't seen her drunk or angry outside of that angry scene with Varric.

Yeah, the first time I find her at Skyhold with a Dalish Mage, she's drunk, like angry depressed drunk, all "you're not what I expected" blah blah blah....

You have an option to tell her to go clean herself up even.

Yes! I agree in that scene I was the same way like, Um, hello, I've got the mark and I'm doing pretty well here, you really think he would have been better than me?  Did you listen to Varric's story?

Or is just that you have to accuse and want to arrest all of your potential heros before you see them as leaders?

although, if Hawke had been there, he would have recognized Corphyeous, and he did beat him before....but...

I am rp'ing a Dalish rogue and did not get that scene. Is it only triggered if you're a mage? Not sure I really want to see her like that!

Hmm I don't remember for sure, I thought I was nice to her when she apologized, but I definitely took the responses I felt were approriate for a Dalish Mage concerning the Chantry and its function, as well as siding with the Mages of course.  Obviously it must have been my choices, I just can't think of any major ones that would have led to that.  Maybe it was just a bunch of little disapprovals and if her disapproval is low enough you get that scene.

It's got nothing to do with your class or race. it's to do with approval. If you p*ss her off by being anti-andrastean and short with her and then ally with the mages, you'll likely see it whoever you are.

Is there any other way to find the tomb key without destroying the elven tombs in the exalted plains?

Nope.

Which is why you should leave that quest for last until you're done helping the Dalish, or it will screw up your approval rating.

Talking of approval, I note that you get a "Sera slightly disapproves" for putting the Andraste flag highest in "Champions of the Just." Not just a neutral reaction, but active disapproval. This shows that she's actually against putting Andrastean faith above belief in the people, which is interesting.

I thought it made sense, actually.

It's exactly that. If you were already low and then you allied with the mages, she's going to be grumpy.

I'll keep that in mind then. I got disapproval for siding with the mages in my first game but my char was so devout that probably saved me from that scene. At some point I'll try a non-Andrastrean run and see that side of her.

Oh quite, but it argues against those who claim that her belief in the maker is super-high on her list of priorities.

Okay, so it must be a disapproval check.  It is this scene, only this video has her side with templars and its after the Empress Quest.  I got it slightly different dialogue but same scene, and it was literally right after I got sky hold up and running, maybe I had gone to the Exalted plains, but it was definitely the first time I talked to cassandra in skyhold and I did that pretty shortly after getting it,

I put the people's flag first and got "Sera approves." I would also put seeing magic contained and controlled above belief in Andrastianism.

Yeah I had a look on the wiki and saw that's what happens. It says she slightly disapproves of either of the other two being put above the people.

Indeed. Sera is a practical girl first and foremost. Not the type that goes solely by faith. Her interest in helping the poor and needy has shaped much of her personality, and it doesn't seem to have anything to do with faith on her part.

Well... I'd argue that there's also some self-interest there, as her wish to help downtrodden people is bound up with her wanting everyone, specifically including elves and hence herself to be treated the same in life.

You know, I keep meaning to write up my own character analysis of Sera. It won't contain much that I and others haven't said on this thread already in various places, but I should probably put it all together in one place. I like looking at how the various aspects of her personality interact...

Please do! I'm curious to see your conclusions. :)

Another reason why I find it hard to believe that she's thinking of a literal interpretation of the Chant of Light when arguing with a Dalish Inquisitor post-Mythal. She believes in Andraste, but I don't think she's a chapter and verse kind of girl at all.

Interesting, didn't knew of this since i usually put people first of all. :D

Her banter with IB about faith proves that she's not a devout follower of chantry. She also says she was curious, hence why she joined in the Inquisition. She wanted to see if andraste/maker exist.

She may believe in andraste but doesn't think much about it.

Yeah. I told myself that I wanted to wait until I'd done at least one playthrough before attempting to write anything approaching definitive, but I no longer have that excuse... Just need to find the time to devote to it in order to do it justice.

Oh my gosh, you guys!

Sera is cruel. Aithne just lost both Solas and her vallaslin (face tattoos) and all Sera can do is laugh at her!

It's like great, thanks ever so much Sera. I thought we were friends! Excuse me while I go jump from your railing and run off sobbing.

Blood mage Hawke is kind of stupid to begin with. Along with Templar Hawke and Reaver Hawke, probably Spirit Healer Hawke as well.

Hawke is just a terrible protag in general, leave him/her in the Fade for all my runs except one. Positives though her VA is terrific.

Nsfw, beware. Well, it's not very explicit but just in case.

Spoiler

Seradaar gives me life tbh.

*Sigh* if only we had hair options like that for a qunari, hopefully a customization dlc will be on the cards later, I'd buy it.

Oh yeah I saw that on youtube, pretty damn douchey behaviour a renegade interrupt wouldn't be outta order for a Lavellan in that scene.

It is undoubtedly mean, but I put it to Aithne that she wasn't paying much attention if she expected sympathy from Sera over either of those things...

Also; Solas is a massive ass when you do Sera's romance quest as a Dalish. What is it he says? "Sera is no more an Elf than I am a horse"? Something along those lines. Those two don't like each other one bit...
