Or she just doesn't trust Cole because he's a Fade Spirit/Demon during a breach that has demons coming out killing people

Then kindly don your big girl pants. You're in the Inquisition now, in the service of a rabid elf necromancer who'll delve into whatever magic looks most interestingly dark. This is not the streets of the common folk and it never will be for you again.

That's assuming she wouldn't have problems with a rabid elf necromancer.
The fact that she's in the Inquisition doesn't mean she has to like everything you do or every members of the organization.

Sera's probably seen some crap... well, besides the obvious. It's not only smart but seems like her nature not to trust things she finds strange, or at least not immediately. Some people are going into this game having read up on Cole and know a fair amount about him. She doesn't know anything, she just knows he's not normal. Same for the Inquisitor, so if you play the game just immediately warmed up to him without any hesitation, I wouldn't be surprised if more of the party members than her look at you like you're insane. :P

cole helps people according to his profile, and sera likes to help the less fortunate...  i find it hard to believe they cant get along.  I can understand some fear of demons/spirits from her, but not as much as i would expect from a mage character.  just seems strange to me that they kinda made them incompatible.

Cole likes to help people. But Sera has no reason to believe that just because he says it, or believe he's genuine about it if he does it. Demons lie. Demons deceive and seduce. It's what they do.

Is a little odd that Sera's the one and not Iron Bull or one of the other mages, but it's possible they aren't really talking about Dorian and Solas' reaction until they do those character reveals; I've noticed they haven't really talked about how Dorian and Solas get along with anyone specifically.

Indeed, though I don't personally think they'll dislike him.
IB's reactions is a complete surprise, though I personally like what Patrick said about him on the team part.

I can't imagine Cullen will be overly eager to meet Cole either.

I don't either, and It'd be stupid to think he'd be eager. Though I can't say how badly he'll react.

Did aaron beck say anything about sharks and what to do if there's a shark in your house and it's wearing a mask and saying "hi" but all you can think about is the teeth--so many teeth--because sharks are real, and everyone knows they only do one thing, mean it or not, and maybe it's not a shark but it's sure seems like it has fins and is that a mask or not what if it takes it off and then just teeth I can't stop thinking about teeth IT DOESN'T MOVE RIGHT!

"War, demons, a torn sky: these are more than troubling—they're terrifying."

Yeah, see, this point of view makes a lot of sense to me.  And I have a feeling that Cole isn't going to be healing little sick children in his clinic for the poor when we meet him.  First impressions matter.

They have not, not since he was revealed in the magazine a while back.

I'm wondering if he isn't Gaider's special character that he's been waiting to write for fifteen years.

Ah, so you believe that certain specializations will garner worse reactions than others?

I'm willing to tolerate this, as I mentioned, if it's temporary.

I believe Bioware.mentioned before that they wanted specializations to have more reaction or something like that

So I'm assuming some of our companions won't like a necromancer

Possibly, though in truth i was mostly referring to the Dark magic part, which I forgot to put in my post.
Well, I don't think their relationship will remain like this, though i don't know if it'll turn better or worse.
I don't get the tolerate part. I'd understand if she goes too far, but is really that bad that she fears/doesn't trust demons or spirits to the point she wants to ignore one? Do you expect her to get along with all the companions ?

I won't have to worry about Sera calling Cole an 'it'.  I am happily prepared to let her and the rest of the Inquisition completely forget it ever existed.  That gap on the party select screen?  Just two characters giving each other a little personal space.

Though giving it to Viv for 'peaceful banishment' is a secondary option.

Taking this back to Sera, I don't really see the issue with her or any other character having a negative opinion of someone else.  Not everyone will get along, and flaws give a character depth and texture.  Heck, I want two companions who are friends to be catty and snap at each other from time to time.

I would guess she's among the first five recruits, likely the one before or after Vivienne.

So Sera thread, how do you think Sera would react to her romanced Inquisitor getting badly hurt to protect her?

You know, for science

Well I'm not too happy about Sera calling Cole "IT".

Because I remember a "IT" and it was a clown , and ewwww.It's a Stephen King thing.

And well it's rude.

But I can understand where she's coming from , still I will be more understanding about Vivienne disgust.

Mages are prime targets for demons and spirit afterall.

Probably with arrows or stabbings.

Or stabbings with arrows.

I'm willing to accept Fenris' issues because his backstory went well above and beyond that which mundanes can generally expect from mages, though even then I still didn't like him much. But trying to deny anyone basic personhood is something that I cannot abide under any circumstances, to the point of actually wanting to call Dr. Chakwas out on it--fairly hard (well, hard by Paragon standards)--during that argument with Adams in ME3.

Trusting a demon in times of demon invasion is foolish
Though so was trusting an assassin who just tried to murder you
Zevran was worth a bit of OOCness but I blame no one for not trusting him at first. Him or Cole the Demonic Thing

I'm picturing angry berating and the Inquisitor just smiling at her because Sera isn't the one who got hurt, maybe with her head in Sera's lap while she lies there all bandaged up. Tiny girlfriend refuses to leave, what if something else happens when she isn't around?

Btw if my talking about her ever seems to make assumptions it's largely because I end up picturing the Inquisitor as a qunari lady.
