Yeah love that too, even tho Sera was kiiiinda unfair in this banter i just posted. I mean this elf is old as hell, it's logical she'd only know her birth language.

 

What surprised me is why didn't Solas help with translation. Isn't the same language with recent elven?

 

She's snotty as hell in that exchange but there is an air of condescension sometimes with Solas so it evens out I think.

Ugh those moments really grinded my gears, what I wouldn't give for a shut-up Sera interrupt. Feels like I'm the last of the elven supporters here on this thread at times I swear.

 

Sera was right though in first banter about the words thing. Solas speaks to her in a language she does not know, yet he insists just bc she looks elven. If i was Sera i'd be annoyed too. It's like someone talking to me in a language i don't know but they assume i do just because i'm, say, Chinese tbh.

 

Or in my case, talking to me in ancient Greek. Like pls.

I can't really see "elvish" as being a synonym with "Dalish". Not even in the game, and especially not now that I've read Masked Empire (which I wanted to read to get some background on the people in Wicked Eyes).

 

I was feeling very sympathetic to Briala when

she felt she'd been helping the elves this whole time and she realized that the Dalish didn't care one bit about city elves and all they have to deal with because the Dalish were too busy playing a game of "we are true elves".

 

But again, that's the only DA book I've read so my impression could be incomplete. Still.

It would have been alright if he'd dropped it after she said she didn't understand the first time. I mean, he thought she might understand the cadence, which is perfectly acceptable. But she tells him she doesn't understand and doesn't care and he tries again!

That /\. That's it exactly. Solas takes great offense that she doesn't seem to want to know and he assumes or insists she must because she has pointy ears. I had to ask him last night about a gift for her and his offense became pretty clear in the exchange we had. "Lighten up Solas or maybe try a different tack with her?"

Solas and Sera can be as bad as each other. It's like Fenris and Anders all over again, except I actually like both of them, for some reason.

At the risk of starting the war again here, i'll say that the Dalish have no obligation or responsibility towards the city elves. To gain respect one has to prove they deserve it.

 I don't like Solas for various reasons, but I respect him. So use him in my party, but never talk to him in Skyhold. lol

 

That's pretty much what I end up doing. There was that time he asked for a large round room and a lot of paint so I ordered paints and brushes for him and leave him to his work.

She's only rude to him though cause he tries to be big soul brother elf with her and force her to conform to his expectations of what he thinks she should be. He doesn't give her a chance to be herself or to try and understand her. It's really a lot on him as I see it. Sera behaves badly with the two people who put her down the most in game Viv and Solas. Even Dorian and Cass whom she spars with at first she develops a better relationship with after they make the adjustments. Solas and Viv never adjust.

To be fair Solas just woke from a long ass frozen in time sleep, he was trying to connect with Sera in his own unique way, he was mistaken, she took it waaaay too personal, put down the pitchfork Sera, you have plenty of more opportunities to dump on elves later.
