I'm never sure how rough the Dalish are supposed to live, but they have a lot of hunters so I guess they're pretty big on game?

you guuuys, I just finished my Lavellan playthrough and I feel very conficted!
Gah. Let's just say it is certainly not my canon playthrough!

What parts are you unhappy with?

The romance arc. I feel like Solas got a lot less content than the other romances, and while it was intense and interesting, I got 2 kiss scenes, 1 dance, and 1 break-up scene. I also get no after-the-Fade scene which I find intensely frustrating, You can't just go up to him and ask for a kiss like you do with the other romances, and the end balcony scene after the banquet is you looking at the mountains.
It just feels very... empty and anti-climactic.
Here's a somewhat pointed Dalish question: what are the halla for?
I think they're supposed to pull the land ship things - though that looks like the complete opposite of what they'd be good for. Also apparently they are ridden as much as riding things is a thing in Thedas.
But really I assume they're for the hippie elf forest cred.

That kind of goes hand in hand with playing a Lavellan.

I think I'd feel so much better about it if I was a Lavellan who didn't romance anyone.

Apparently many people find it amazing. Don't really understand why. The guy leaves you and you want to do it again? Crazy people...

Try the Sera romance, that one doesn't have to end badly. It'll kick you in the teeth a few times, but happy endings right?
Part of it is that I was spoiled by the Cullen and Bull romances.
Lets face it: Cullen gives you hugs.
Bull gets 4 long romance scenes (More than the others I've encountered) and he smacks you on the butt whenever you ask for a kiss. And he's just so adorable once you get under his tough guy shell.
So I was expecting Solas romance to be similar, even though I knew he would leave. I was expecting multiple intense scenes, and instead they're just variations of what any inquisitor gets, minus the break-up/vallaslin scene.

I may have to... 7th playthrough. Maybe make another qunari for her and not recruit Bull. (*woah mind explosion*)

The old joke use to be that Aliaster didn't really love you. Now its Solas doesn't really love you, but this time the hurts are twice as strong.
(bioware is evil)
As for me, there is only one romance in this game............take a guess who. ![]()
I still have to play Abaeni and romance Blackwall *dear god I hope that's not as much of a trainwreck!) and play Cillian to romance Cass.
Pretty much. It's also kind of amusing to me that the Dalish talk a big game (tee-hee, "game") about living in communion with their glorified deer, but they use them as pack drudges and possibly also food.
Read my above reply. I'm in a bad mood.

Gah, BioWare why did you have to go and wreck my elfy romance?
Many people are suckers for deities and British accents.
I don't understand it either.
Uh, I'm am British.
IMO, the Solas romance is terrible.
Like he's a great character!! It has some really interesting ideas in it and I get why people love it so much, because you can always take something that's half realized and flesh it out in your own head. I ain't hating.
But what is in the game, just looking at the text and setting aside people's abilities to make mediocre things more interesting.... it's so obviously an afterthought, the PC gets railroaded through it with no closure, and there's just an ickyness to it overall imo that they did not do a good job of exploring. Plus Solas, while again, a fascinating character, even if you don't romance him, never gets as good of interactions, so it's always like watching a character on TV, not like, talking to a character.
I was talking/ranting about this on Tumblr the other day and my conclusion was:
i mean wth. did you just go OH SOLAS COULD BE A LOVE INTEREST AND THEN WE COULD CAUSE PAIN TO PEOPLE and get so excited about causing pain that you forgot people might actually want the love story to feel like a love story instead of Two Times I Grabbed Then Kissed an Elf While He Was Pulling Away From Me And One Time He Dumped Me Because My Face Was Bad

But yes. It's like other than the break-up scene / dance all they did was tweak content that any inquisitor gets.
And I'm so sad because you guys know how much I love BioWare, but it could have been so much better. An epic star-crossed lovers romance, and it's just... not. It's not and it sucks because I was looking so forward to it!

look at the bright side, Blackwall has plenty of kisses to give out! Who can resist mr.beefcakes. Bonus points for those that know the reference. ![]()

Ewww.
Just joking ![]()
And it's not about having things explicitly spelled out for you, it's just about stuff not being there at all. Like Sera's romance has a lot of nuance to it, and you can put things together and it just gets deeper and deeper. Solas's romance feels really deep until you look at it, and then realize it's actually shallow as heck, and if you want to be able to swim in it, you have to pour your own damn water in. ![]()
OK RANT OVER. I'm just disappointed. it should have been such a good romance, but it just didn't work for me personally and it's also very "...." when you look at it overall as well.
