both sera and blackwall are awesome how dare you *folds arms*
I suppose now is a bad time to mention that I find Blackwall as boring as Solas.
Oh yes, I went there. ![]()

And? Whats the issue? Is this not how Sera is in game? Sera even admits that shes selfish and joined the inquisition for selfish reasons.
Apparently even the devs didn't think very highly of her. Just compare positive and negative qualities from those descriptions.
Positives:
Sera - umm, young?
Dorian - idealist, intelligent, witty, talented, good person at heart
Negatives:
Sera - selfish, impulsive, frenetic, no self awareness
Dorian - umm, cocky?

lol, its clearly a very incomplete description of Sera. Obviously theres more thats just not included in that file. Becuase Sera has much more depth than that in the game. I wouldn't get bent out of shape of an incomplete early description of Sera.
Its also possible that this is a VERY early description of Sera and that more redeeming characteristics were added latter.

Or they was just giving a description of the characters in the game
To be honest, most people I know seem to hate Sera mostly because they find her voice and how she talks annoying. So its mostly subjective superficial hate. Nothing wrong with it exactly but its not a deep seated hate of Sera.

Oh come on, Veeia. I thought I'd get a like for this gif. Isn't it perfect?
*Yes, I'll admit I was looking for an excuse to post this*

>implying Sera doesn't have talents or good traits.
Knitting (at least tries).
Cooking. Writes poems.
According to Cole: has a good voice and is good at singing but doesn't like it, loves dancing but can't.
Also good at bow.
Come on. Sera isn't useless as the devs try to paint her. The game clearly shows there's more to Sera than this.... short description.
And to furthere keep thiings in perspective. Think about Blackwall vs Sera. Whos the better person. lol
Devs apparently thought that Blackwall:
<CharacterName> Blackwall
<CharacterDescription> Blackwall is a criminal masquerading as a Grey Warden. He believes that pretending to be a Grey Warden will give him the opportunity to do enough good to make up for the terrible things he did in his past.
<SpeechPattern> Gruff, plain.
Oooh, what is written about Cassandra. *sparkles in eyes* I want to know!
First off, lingering descriptions in the code could be as old as the original game's treatment. There's no way to know when they were written, and they mean almost nothing in the context of the game come release.
Secondly, if you're going to constantly post major spoilers, could you please try putting them in a spoiler tag? I've had two major plot points ruined for me in one day, and I'd like to try and get through my playthrough without having all of them wrecked.
Blackwall gets a pass from me, if only because he also makes fun of Solas (and Sera put him up to it). He could stand to lose a bit of that moping around after his secret is discovered, though.I suppose now is a bad time to mention that I find Blackwall as boring as Solas.
Oh yes, I went there.
He and Sera are legit my favorite tho, and I love that they're the two most disliked/ignored characters and they end up all BFF like, like "us against all the nobs" lmao.
Hah, I knew it! People like to ascribe various political beliefs to Sera, but I always thought she really had none, beyond "stick it to the man".
It's fascinating because Sera is almost like a player character dressed up as an NPC. What she wants is to kill the bad guys, take their stuff, and maybe save the world in the process. She has no more respect for her fellow NPCs than a player would, whether it's making fun of Solas or playing pranks on Josephine. It's awesome.
I think I only once projected myself into the game that I really wanted to fulfill the mission as *myself*. It was in NWN2: MotB. After all that agitation from Kaelyn, seeing what a great injustice that Wall of the Faithless was and all that hard work while preparing the revolution, forging alliances with terrible monsters to fight gods, it suddenly ended like nothing happened and I didn't even have dialogue options to express my disappointment.

The devs aren't thinking anything, it's just descriptions of the characters
jeebus
The Blackwall v Sera friendship is amusing and cute.
I like Vivienne a lot even though she also gets hated on. But then, she is an unapologetic B. But I love that her about her, same reason Emma Frost is probably my favorite x-man.
I think the devs legit love Sera, tbh, and it seems like (from reading tweets and posts), thought she was going to be polarizing because people have bad taste, not because she's a bad character, lmao.
..or maybe that's just me.
(I mean there are legit reasons to not like her but Wissy is right that most people's dislike comes from superficial things and hong's analysis of her as essentially a typical Bioware player is spot on and hilarious when contrasted to their reaction to her)
Not to mention Laidlaw and Cameron Lee (i think it's also Lee, right?) love Sera.
And yeah, those descriptions don't say much tbh.

I know what you mean. I wanted that bloody wall to come down as well. lol
I didn't feel any particular way about Blackwall at first, but I really ended up liking his story, and his relationship to the other characters (especially Sera). I guess there are no companions I actually dislike. Even my annoyance with Solas is more about limited choices in how to approach conversation with him than with him personally.
