Fenris and Anders' treatment of Merrill are inside the 'too far' approach for me, so I'd have definitely told them to shut up if possible.I would have welcomed an option to tell Fenris to lay off Merill, personally. As for Sera ignoring him... well, unless they somehow have fewer examples of party banter than everyone else, I don't know if that'll really work.
Yup, the party banter is the reason why I think they'll relationship will move on the ignore part. though I guess the first banters will be hilarious.

Why would Sera dislike Cole more than anyone else? I'm lost.

Er... I've heard of people playing Internet psychiatrist before, but never based on a single paragraph of text. Do you truly believe that there are no impulsive people who enjoy the underworld life who are not sociopaths?
Sociopathy, or more precisely antisocial personality disorder, is pathologizing non-white collar criminals. According to the DSM-IV, if you break the law, are impulsive, and are violent and/or frequently lie, you have ASPD.
Why would Sera dislike Cole more than anyone else? I'm lost.
Because he's a freaky zombie demon thingie.
Or do you mean do we think Sera might dislike Cole more than others would dislike him? Because she was the one called out as disliking him.

I meant the latter, and I can't find it if she was. I talked about the Inquisitor being naturally suspicious of Cole because they're at war with the Fade and he's a spirit, and that it would still be defensible and not bigotry if that suspicion miraculously lasted past their initial meeting.

According to Cole's interview it seems Vivienne and Sera will be the followers with more problem with Cole. IB was stated to be fine with Cole.

Got it, that makes more sense now. Well, as long as it doesn't destabilize and demoralize the team I'm sure they can figure it out between themselves. And it does look like we'll be able to interrupt party banter with dialogue of our own now. It'd be nice if we could tell them to just shut up and keep their opinions to themselves if it goes too far, rather than have to pick sides.

Wolverine doesn't count. I recall walking into a comic book store one day and seeing the dude on 19 different covers. He's like crabs at a brothel; the Avengers have him because everyone has him.
have you ever read the Twisted Toyfare Theater episode about Wolverine's average day? It mocks how is is everywhere

We'll actually have the option of interacting in certain party banters, according to the devs.

The DSM-V adds more criteria. You have to exhibit an absence of empathy, your symptoms have to be consistent "across situations" and could not be considered normative for your sociocultural environment, among other things.
Sera doesn't qualify.

All of the above descriptions were after Sera's reaction to Cole:
Iron bull - description hates demons but he feels that Cole needs a drink and to get laid. Really?
Vivienne- wants Cole banished to the fade peoples reactions are that's understandable and it makes sense.
Sera - calls a serial killing spirit or demon "it" and she's a pariah

I don't think Sera is a pariah for disliking Cole in particular, she just isn't generally trustworthy or reliable.
And no, Iron Bull isn't much better. So... yup.

It seems so far that Sera doesn't actively dislike Cole as much as she is just afraid and apprehensive of him because of his nature. Which is not entirely unreasonable, misguided maybe but not unreasonable, and while I agree that her calling him "it" is a pretty horrible thing to do, it doesn't have to invalidate everything else about Sera's character nor the understandable reasons behind it. It really does seem that Sera sincerely believes that Cole is an 'it' because he is a spirit, and does not perceive him as a person, which really makes her come across as more misguided than anything else. It's not really uncommon either since you see Fade entities be referred this way in the game all the time. And it is also perfectly understandable and reasonable for people to be upset or triggered by her reaction, because this kind of dehumanizing behavior does in fact happen to oppressed people in real life, and that it's a very horrible thing to do to someone that is very traumatizing to experience goes without saying. Of course, it's hardly a perfect parallel, and you can't carelessly equate non-human fictional magical entities to real life oppressed people. But if you have experienced such treatment personally, to witness it in a work of fiction, even in a very different context, could be upsetting on a personal level and re-awaken this past trauma.
I think it's important not to dismiss or belittle the feelings of those who react like this and to try to understand them and see where they're coming from instead of saying that they're taking it too personally or anything like that. I also think it's not very fair to jump the gun on Sera based on this one thing about her character and disregard that she is obviously far more than that and that just as in real life, people are not perfect at everything and treat everyone exactly as they should be, that all people have flaws and make mistakes and sometimes do bad things without meaning to, just as I think it's important to recognize that it is, yes, Not A Good Thing that she is doing by referring to Cole as "it" and dehumanizing (for the lack of a better word) him. Here's to hoping that theirs is one relationship that will evolve to a more positive place throughout the game and that Sera will eventually come to change how she perceives Cole? We had Aveline and Isabela's relationship change with time, so there's no reason something similar can't happen again.

Still doesn't seem reasonable considering how many times demon is mentioned in his description and writer's interview.

I don't see why it woudn't be reasonable. It's certainly unexpected, but his fear/mistrust of demons is probably based on what the demons actually do, and he probably doesn't fear Cole because of what he's actually doing. Well, it is a little weird, and IB's own motivations are pretty suspect too. He might just be pragmatic like that, but he might also have an agenda. Either is perfectly conceivable for a Qunari.
No, I don't think so either. It could just be the natural reaction of someone who's lived among the common folk and never personally had much to do with spirits or magic before, or she could be professionally disturbed because she knows better than anyone just how dangerous his powers make him as a killer, and how risky it is to keep him around.

I predict IB will be the bro of the game while Varric becomes darker and mopey-er.
I sort of hope not... I'd rather not mix too closely with qunari spies.

I think it would be funny if Sera was a bit of a sociopath. Sarcastic Hawke was a sociopath aswell and almost everybody loved that personality.

Varric does look like he got 'hardened' a bit, though I'm sure he will still have that 'bro' feel to him.

You may have options about that, as I feel will be the case for most companions this time around.
