You don't need either when your a Rogue yourself. But honestly, a Rogue should have Varric at least because their crit rate will turn Varric into a machinegun.
Sure you do. How else do you turn Emprise du Lion into a pissing contest?

I need to get saved again. Anyone know of any decent website or book detailing the tactics and strategies of an ancient archer, and their use in ancient warfare?
Punching Solas didn't make me feel better at all, even if he did deserve it for his actions in a parallel universe. ![]()
Abaeni should go apologize for losing her temper.
Thank god for Varric and Sera being around to cheer me up.

I don't know any books, but this video has interesting information.

Thanks, but what I had on mind was more of a... where would they be stationed? How would they engage? When would they engage? Would they close into melee, or remain at range?

You are probably better off researching various historical battles. See how the armies manoeuvred. Through that, you would likely find out what you are looking for.
Well, the battle of Crécy, for example...
(Fun fact, that's the battle where a Czech King has fallen, the father of Charles IV., Jan)
The French just charged up, and the British longbowmen friggin' ANNIHILATED them before the French could do any real damage.
Lesson learned, never ****** off the British.
Yesterday I did that spider-cave in the Forbidden Oasis. First PT I was so over-levelled that it never bothered me. This time... Well it's pleasing how well the old "tank in a choke point" strategy works on them. Basically Aidan was standing behind Cass twiddling his thumbs while ranged Cole and Vivienne slowly picked them all off...
Hated that cave.
I was playing my 2 handed warrior so I have to run in there and I just dropped like a sack of bricks. It was such a nightmare.

Arachnophobia?
Yeah wandering into that cave will not end well if you're not seriously over-levelled. Parking Cass in the choke point in the entrance corridor worked well though.Hated that cave.

Haha, don't we all. Sera is without a doubt one of my all time favorites. She is rough, opinionated, a little daft and ****ing awesome. I don't agree with her all the time but some of her views about the wealthy elite are similar too mine( minus the murder etc ).Good lord I wish I could romance her as a male. She is so much more my type than either Cass or Jo. I have real difficulty leaving her behind for any missions.
Arachnophobia?
No. I don't fear spiders. I don't like them, but I don't fear them. I fear cameras. That's actually a thing.

Well, that's bad. Cameras are pretty much everywhere these days...
I'd make a joke, but I can't come up with a decent one...
Hello thread.
(sips coffee)
I'm buying a friend birthday lunch and should probably go to the grocery store first, but... coffee.

Reminds me of the air force element in one of the various ArmA groups I played with. They called themselves "COFFEHFORCE"...
Damn, sometimes I feel old, with all the stories and whatnot I can share.

I remember seeing a documentary a few years ago about archers being pretty squishy and having to stay away from the main fighting, often with shields in front of them. I think they were using a bit of CGI to show positioning and such.
Which is completely unhelpful to your question but I just thought it was kind of interesting.
I have a friend who did a lot of SCA so she was always researching how armor and weapons were made, how the pieces worked, and sometimes how battles worked before gunpowder. She gets really into that sometimes.

Any chance you remember the name? Even if I don't use the things in my essay in the end, it sounds like an interesting documentary to see.

Blackwall makes his own chokepoints!
This is true but I'm not at Skyhold yet...Blackwall makes his own chokepoints!

Man, I woke up and in my half asleep state, I stubbed the **** out of my big toe and in doing so, took a big chunk out of my toe nail. It's a good thing that a pile of pan cakes fixes everything.
