Puppy is cute. How about some foxes?

Awwww.
Awwww.
Is that fox blowing a raspberry?
That is a fox tasting joy on the wind. The sky itself loves foxes.
I'm not sure why the person hated her so much. If I was being unfair, I'd guess its largely of spite that they can't romance him. But I do try to be fair, so I think that's only one contributing factor and I'm sure they have legit reasons. She is a disaster and she does lie, so maybe they just have a lower tolerance for that.
Other people I've seen calling her a Sue and y'all already know how I feel about that term, but it drives me especially crazy here because a character who acts like they are perfect and does not have the text nor the other characters in it agree with that assessment...is not a Sue, they are arrogant. Which is a reasonable flaw. Shakes people.
Well she is arrogant. She is foolish and she is culpable of a great blunder. However I looked at some of the mitigating factors which were, in my view: A) She tries real hard to make things right. B ) It was very clear Varric was in love with her so would forgive her anyway and that she was loyal to him C) The mess was something we were able to at least partially fix and I have a high opinion of Varric so I was willing to roll with his decisions.
Hrmmm now I'm thinking about how people overall seem to prefer characters who are more self aware of their flaws, like Dorian or Cass, than someone like Bianca or Sera.
Which is funny because most people are not that aware of their own flaws, or if they are, it's more in a Blackwall style "that level of awareness has turned into such intensely passive navel gazing it's effectively on any meaningful level the same as being oblivious about it".
Is Varric arrogant or is that bravado?Bianca is the perfect complement for Varric because they both are wry marshmallows but while he is too passive in his actions, she is too aggressive. I also think people tend to flatten Varric out. He is a 100% quality bro who cares for people deeply but he is also arrogant, lmao.
I think we call Cass and Dorian mentally balanced despite their flaws
Well that too.
Although Wynne is pretty well mentally balanced and doesn't have awareness of her flaws and people hate her too.

How does he come across as arrogant to you?
Well that too.

I never got the hate for Wynne either. Sure she heckled my choice of Morrigan but she was probably right!
But anyway she was always ready with those healing spells! ![]()
I'm thinking of him in DA2. In inquisition it's definitely more of a bravado thing because he's so out of his element. He's a very complex and lovable character, I would never reduce him to arrogant and self-righteously hypocritical, but I do think he has those traits.
How does he come across as arrogant to you?
He's a control freak who has a tendency to think his perspective is the "right" one instead of just his. Try rivalling him in DA2 or pay attention when he disagrees with people, it comes out more although still subtly because he turns super passive aggressive. He's often paired as the "reasonable" one with much more overtly arrogant characters (like Solas or Sebastian), so it's not as obvious but I feel it. I mean he's not like I AM DA BOMB EVERYBODY PRAISE ME or anything, but there are different kinds of arrogance imo.
I'm not a huge fan of idea of a character that just follows you around and agrees with you, lmao, so I tend to spend more time looking at his flaw so he is more interesting for me. possible I've read a little too much into Varric there, I was kind of disappointed with his arc in DA:I tbh, I was hoping they'd push him more. He's still fun to have around though.
Nice Uncle, awesome shots.
I still will always prefer Champions of the Just even if I get Dorian later. Besides, he gets a proper introduction in Redcliffe without saving the mages.
For me, the scene with Leliana in "In Hushed Whispers" is the most moving and amazing bit of the whole game. Class 1 Grade A feels. and it's optional...
varric did feel like he was watered down this time... not as funny... just more serious almost batman likeHe's a control freak who has a tendency to think his perspective is the "right" one instead of just his. I did not make it all the way through DA2 when I played. I missed it probably. I feel his arc might suffer because he has competition as rogue this time so you can use him a lot early on but I've found Sera overpowers him a bit as an archer and she's a bag of interesting psychological and character issues/flaws! ![]()
I like that they've given us these complex characters and I would not want a bunch of "yes" men/women following my Inquisitor so when people rage on Sera or Viv or whoever I shake my head at the ones who seem like they don't even want these characters in the game. Why? You mean you want some bland soup of safe and tidy characters? I like it that there are some genuine sweethearts our Quiz's get to work with in the game and there are some real class A jerks too. Then there are some who are somewhere in between those extremes. Bit like real life isn't it?

I just meant that unless you do Champion of the Just, Cole doesn't get an intro, whereas you can always visit the mages and meet Dorian, which seems slightly unfair.
Also, I hate finding stupid shards to open a door.
Well, if your shard hunting can wait until like, half of February, I'm planning on making a third, Casual playthrough in which I'll record all the shards.
But take me with reserve, I'm not sure if I'll actually do this.

true cause i have da2 varric on a pedistool stillWell I think that's because, as he tells you later, he has a hard time separating you as a person from your role as the Inquisitor. Some bosses you can be buddies with and joke around, others you're acutely aware that you're a subordinate.
Lol, have fun with that! You're only on your third? You gotta catch up to me!
I'm actually not even past HLTA and WEWH on my second (Nightmare) playthrough.
You see, exams, and I have been given a suggestion that I drop gaming for a bit. Which sounded pretty good to me, so I follow it.
