Do you ever have times when you start to reply to like five or six different posts and you keep going "Wait, I don't really have anything to say or contribute here, I should back out of this"?

And then you make a self-deprecating post to balance it out. Like this one.

I made popcorn because I need to cheer up, so this is my SHARING POPCORN WITH THE THREAD post

everyday except i have no self control so i often post anyway

I HAVE POPCORN TOO WOOOHOO POPCORN PARTY!!!

"So where are you from, normal guy who totally doesn't look like a spy?"
"I'm Irish."

"Huh, you sound kind of Australian."

"Yup, I'm Australian."

"Okay you sounded kind of American there."

"I'm not a spy."

Mind: blown.

Cover: bloody nuked.

Man, how did you pick up so many accents?

I wish I had an accent. Everyone always says I do when I travel, but I don't hear it. Is Canadian really that distinct?

Games, and teamspeak.

I didn't really pick up the accents. They picked me up. A lot of words I can't even pronounce correctly in another accent. Weird, just like me.

And... I guess Canadian might have the odd bit of French mixed in somewhere, since it's bi-lingual?

Who knows. Sounds logical that with two languages spoken officially, you'd have picked up things from the other over the hundreds of years since colonization in the Canadian take on English.

i don't know a lick of french, but perhaps it did influence us. I just think Albertans have a very neutral accent, it's like the lack of distinction is what defines it :P

everyone has an accent, you just don't notice it if you speak similarly to the dominant accent in your area/media

And imagine managing a perfect impression, as far as the people here are concerned.
A lot of them wouldn't be able to tell our countries of origin apart, Uncle. They just seem to have that little experience with telling accents apart.

I just have to admit it. It's not my skill, it's their lack of experience that fools them!

Mexicans assume (with good reason to be fair) that anyone who is tall and white is from the US and can't speak Spanish. It can get annoying when neither is the case.

Pretty much.

Now that I'm thinking about it, we have Cat's voice recorded. So if Cat's from the same general area as you, well...

I don't know. I think I caught only a little bit, but she also knows French well, as I recall...

To someone who isn't Canadian? Yep. You do have an accent, but since most people around you have the same one, it just sounds natural to you. Go to, well, anywhere else and people will hear the difference.

I'm a US Midwesterner who moved to the Pacific Northwest, so I run into Canadians and Californians a lot. Both insist they have no accent or that it's the same as Midwestern, both obviously do and its got a lot of differences from mine. It's cute.

So... since we were talking about my accent a bit, I thought a little... And remembered I have a fairly recent video, that is also DA:I related! So, I guess here's a sample of me.

Let me know when the international accent organisation decide on the official "no accent" way of speaking English. I await with baited breath...

Well, if you want to pick up a British accent, go live in the UK for a couple of years. Your natural accent will sound exotic there and during your stay you will pick up bits of the local accent so you will sound exotic when you get back!

Haha, Serza, you oddly sound a lot like my friend who is Israeli but moved to New York City when he was 12.

The coolest accent I heard from someone irl was a woman who grew up in Ireland and moved to Minnesota so she had a bit of the Minnesota accent blended in. It was AWESOME. I want that accent.

We should organize a big Seranader conference call so we could hear everybody's accents!
