Aveline comes to mind, but she wasn't romancable by anyone so that's whatever. The one that really annoyed me was Jack in ME2 because if you talk to her she comes right out and tells you she has slept with women before, and yet she's unavailable to femshep because...I have no idea, lol.

How was Aveline stereotypically gay?

I'd have been angry at the suggestion once, but right now, I have no pride whatsoever in Sera as our first lesbian LI.

Wait, so you're prejudging Sera based on assumptions and limited first impressions...and you don't care about someone trying to deny a part of her identity.

Doesn't this sound familiar? :P

Anyway, I for one am really happy that Sera is a lesbian, and I wouldn't "trade" her for Cassandra.

Who wants to trade when we can potentially just have both? Hahaha

ME2 was weird...it was all OMG NO S/S ROMANCE!! for whatever reason.

I'm not sure about Aveline...I never thought of her as close to a stereotype.

With Sera, idk...she always pinged on the gaydar more for me than the other DA:I females but my gaydar might be broken.

I've since... cooled down since I went on the walk I went on. I'm just deeply paranoid ever since TME.

I didn't think so, to be honest. She seemed 'normal' to me,.

Right, and I've seen very effeminate straight men, but I think more often than not when someone fits those molds it's because they are that way. There are of course exceptions.

Those molds might not actually exist in Thedas. The DA term for "lesbian" is apparently "poetess," which doesn't come across as particularly butch.

Did you make any changes aside from her eye color and having her not glare? Because facial expressions change.

Oh, I suppose her face is somewhat narrower. Eh.

You're right, she might just look a bit fugly because she's scowling...
But to answer your question, I also changed her jaw, nose, lips, eye shape and eyebrows. She might look a bit too pretty and stereotypically elf-like now, though...

Do you mean there are more straight males complaining on her appearance then those who like her, or that there are more straight males then lesbians/straight females/gays complaining about her?

The first.

I understand how you feel. I still think Sera hasn't had much experience with magic and spirits, even as a member of the FoRJ, and I think most Andrastians would be wary of a spirit, given what is taught about them. The Breach is only going to exacerbate that. A mage protagonist might be able to show her a different side to the issue than what the Chantry has preached, and even companions who started off as antagonists can become friends - like Aveline and Isabela, or possibly The Warden and Warden Loghain.

Doesn't matter to me what other straight males think though. I love her, and I'm happy she is (likely) a romance for male PC. I hope she'll be for female PC as well :).

I just think that a higher percentage of straight males seem to like Sera's looks over Cassandra I may be wrong. It could just be a matter of Sera being younger. Whether the people who don't like her looks are just more vocal I really have no clue. It just seems to me that a lot of lady loving women seem to find Cassandra swoon worthy including me. :)

More than likely it's one or the other. You ain't getting Sera and Cassandra as LIs for the female Inquisitor.

At the same time this desire to be so non generic kind of pisses me off in a way. They make characters who many would consider physically stereotypically gay and then seemingly for the sake of "breaking the mold" make them straight. I'm really not sure why Bioware especially seems to enjoy doing this. There are actual queer people who personally  fit and find those stereotypes attractive, that's why they exist, lol.

I was just talking about beauty in general, not stereotypes, in fantasy, men can be anything they want, but women generally must be pretty, and the generally accepted sort at that, and that's especially true for LIs.

I really dig the females companions in DAI, they look different, without being ugly...try creating a female character in Divinity original sin; it's the same old recipe.

I find both Sera and Cassandra swoon-worthy.

That's true. And even Alistair and Morrigan wound up not hating each other forever, given that I think Aimo's comic was considered canon. But the men of DA2 were not so understanding... but I'll try to not be too pessimistic.

Oghren also refers to Branka or Hespith as one (I forget which) in one of his drunken rants.
