One area where my geekiness fails me is "video games as a spectator sport." I just don't enjoy it. Also Twitch or let's play videos in general. That's when I do feel like an out of touch old man... ;)

i like to spectate on yugioh and magic the gathering(shite gets real) theres something about watching other players slowly devolve in strategy and courtesy...

I honestly don't get the appeal of watching people play video games either unless I'm in the same room as them to be annoying.

I watch people on twitch, but i'm more interested in the antics of the streamer than the actual gameplay. Some of them are hilarious :P

I watch this to see how the "pros" play it. Try and implement it within my own play style and get better for it. I don't understand let's plays. Stuff like PewDiePie... Sure, he's funny but so many people I know don't want to play the game. I ask them "Are you going to get ..." and they'll just reply with, "I'll watch the story on YouTube." Seriously, you're missing out people!

I'm not sure... ;)

Okay, well he's definitely funny to an extent and really only towards the young adult and younger audience.

I'd find an equivalent level of humour in sandpapering my eyeballs. Like I said. Makes me feel old... ;)

I don't watch him for f*ck sake! Stop judging me! He does a lot of shouting, a lot of profanity spouting but some off it, especially when he's playing something scary, can be quite funny to watch.

I'm only joking, apologies though.

Still, I looked him up and was like

Spoiler

Seriously though, how does that guy have so many views?

I actually blocked him on Twitter because of one retweet that I saw of his. It was that or stop following the person who retweeted him... I have a low tolerance for PewDiePie...

That's Tropic Thunder, right!? Oh man! I want to watch that again!

He has so many views because everyday he's bringing something new out. I believe he was one of the first to actually make a success off it so now it's like, "If you're gonna watch anyone, you have to watch him!"

Yes, that's Tropic Thunder and it's f***** hilarious.

To me, the only gaming related thing worth watching on YouTube is Honest Trailers.

....If only we'd be in the same room right now. I'd be very tempted of doing his "Peeeeeewdiepie!" just for you. Because i'm like that :P

I do find the whole phenomenon of YouTube stars interesting: You have these people who are famous to millions of people across the globe, and yet unknown to the vast majority. Fame that is simultaneously concentrated in a certain demographic and spread internationally...

I don't understand how people nowadays consider YouTubing as a job.

But, it's not a job. You sit on your arse all day, playing a game and it's considered a job. That's not a job. Misguided youths think they can make money by doing nothing... the world will grind to a halt.

It's an entertainment profession not really diffrent from television and generates revenue much in the same way. Though unlike television, people still watch things on youtube.... :P

Really rubs me up the wrong way. Those people on Television actually had to go to college, work hard in their studies and come out with the skills necessary to make it. These people on YouTube sit in front of a camera there mothers bought them, chat some sh*t, play a game and make money off of it... It's literally ridiculous how the world has turned out.

*tilts head* Being considered entertaining requires a college degree in your neck of the woods, poodle? It requires personality and talent. Skills in this field don't, in my opinion, require college degrees. Just practise and experience. Higher education has its place but it's not in crafts such as this.
