Nearly walked right in to a hunter in the forest. He was nice enough to announce himself before I was right on top of him but still made me jump. Most embarrassing, as I usually hear and see people long before they spot me. Though in my defence, he was in full snow camo and not moving.

Were you out hunting? Like a predator? And him the Arnold?

Lol :P
Was just walking about like I usually do. I did spot the second hunter without him seeing me, though, so my dented pride was repaired :P

Well that's good. You must live up to your reputation.

Have you seen the movie Now You See Me? Basically what you just said is the trick to any good magician. Very good movie too.

Three. Didn't pay as much attention after the first though.

Even when you spot what is being done, it's still easy to miss stuff. A lot of human perception is based on algorithms in the brain that fill in what we "see" based on what would normally be there, and when something abnormal happens, we can completely miss it.

Edit: To follow up on Alexia's point, misdirection is a big part of magic, but exploiting flaws in the way we perceive the world is another.

Happy birthday to me, happy birthday to me, happy birthday to meeeeeeee, happy birthday to me.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU

As much as I love video games, I can't stand seeing violence between real people. I hate it in boxing (despite knowing that it's scripted) and I hate it in my action movies (despite that I watch action almost more than any other genre...)

Yeah it's kind of strange how that works. I can't even deal with more extreme videogame violence, or an environment that's too close to horror or scary movie stuff. Tomb Raider was fantastic, but I couldn't finish it.

On the other hand, I'll watch movies with nice swordfighting or martial arts and love the movement, the gracefulness of it all... but I'm not really seeing blood there. Sword falls, sound effect, actor falls bloodlessly, and it doesn't affect me that way.

But an actual fight... different.

How old do you guys think Inkeri looks?

I was thinking 30s

So my computer kept starting with a blank screen this morning. It was kind of scary. Then Windows came up, I started firefox and went to load the forum... blank screen comes back. I finally got it up, and just to make me feel better I went back to an older nvidia driver (I upgraded a few days ago). I don't know if that was the problem, but you know.

And compared to other things going on in my life lately, this is nothing. But it isn't nothing. Being able to turn on the computer and browse or chat or play a game for a while is a counterweight to those other things. Distraction, painkiller, fun. So yeah, computer not wanting to start properly does seem like a big deal because I wanted some computer time before Other Stuff.

Funny how we depend on things so we can recharge.

(hugs computer awkwardly)

eta: Some of this reaction is probably my feeling of helplessness that I don't know what to do, really. I can't ask the computer "Hey, how are you feeling today?" Well I could, but it wouldn't say much. Probably.

Catch up, catch up, playing catch up!

Thank you Thank You ! That save me from starting all over  :D I dont mind starting over...but those wolf jump on ya and 1hit kill....no thanx !

Happy to help!  It's a great walkthrough for the game.  It takes you to everywhere and to everything!

I second this , ya got a voice for a radio !! It sound awesome ! and ya a re dudeeee LOL I though ya were a women this whole time

It's a common mistake in this thread, I've noticed.  It's unsurprisingly lady intensive around here!

Obviously wearing the dress to fit in really helps!

Nathaniel was awesome and my unofficial second in command

Maybe..

But Nathaniel was the worst . As a cousland...the whole thing was a slap in the face....

He is a Howe , coming to kill me thinking his daddy was a Saint . And then I'm supposed to go priestly on him and show him the greater good ? Ya Mad ?

No..I'm still need more anger management..so he die...

Speaking for my Cousland (hero, Morrigan's love, great father) he was a noble kind of chap who always looked for the best outcome and for the best in people.  He had to give Nathaniel a chance to redeem himself, for Nate's own sake... he wouldn't judge him a bad'un just because his father was Mega-D8ck Extraordinaire.

On the other hand.... bad'uns BEWARE.  The Cousland is coming....

Yeah. Unless I'm badly misremembering, they had "meet the companions" type stuff on their website for her along with the others. I was looking forward to having her as my tank and then... *poof!* Gone.

A classic.  Give you a character you like, then use the arbitrary nature of the Joining to get you emotionally involved - anyone can die now!

if you had to sing Sera a modern day song in the tavern, what would it be?

It only kind of works... but my first thought was:

Happy arbitrary celebration based on orbital mechanics, Verbal!

(keep trying!)

Runaways...

I played the human noble origin last night in DAO because I was having trouble remembering the Cousland story. I think I only played that one once several years ago.

Now I remember.

I heard this yesterday coming from of all places the PA system in the local skate park. It strikes me that if could be apposite for trying in vain to win back a post-Mythal-break-up Sera.

(Also this video is worth watching for the hilariously awkward crowd as well as the 70s "fashions"...)

well...what do you mean by Blank Screen ?

Because if the screen is going Blank it may mean the screen is dying and not your computer . Unless you using a Laptop.....then its tied together .

More info could help narrow down whats wrong ...

It went like this:

  1. blinking bios cursor thingie
  2. windows 8 logo with spinny thing underneath
  3. black screen, but monitor light is on (getting signal)

Another restart was the same, but with monitor light blinking as if the computer was off. At one point I did get the desktop for a few seconds, and there was an error that said something something about graphics driver crash (I wish I could remember, it was fast), which is why when I finally got the desktop again I quickly downgraded the nvidia driver since I knew that had changed recently.

Now it's been working for like half an hour. I have to go somewhere for awhile now. Hopefully it will start fine later.
