Dying a billion times in a row is the routine in this game, it gets better once you get a hold of better equipment, level up a bit and learn the mechanics of the game (admittedly, the "tutorial" doesn't do a great job of explaining some things). As I said before, "prepare to die" is not a threat, it's an advice. ![]()

I was right at the start of the game, so I had no idea what I was doing but I never intended to get into the game much then as I knew DAI was coming out, I do intend to get back to it. I just hope it doesn't become one of the many games that I never finish.

You're welcome! ^^
(For Varric, maybe your whole group has a high crit %? That usually makes him quite powerful if you have unlocked I can't remember which passive in his Artificer tree.)
It's Hail of Arrows and Leaping Shot spam.
Add that to him being a machine gun thanks to Opportunity Knocks and it's resulted in me being a bad Seranader and leaving her back at Skyhold most of the time.

If you don't mind it, the mage equivalent can cheese it's way through the game.
I just prefer melee whenever it's an option, so I don't use it.

I suggest following a guide to avoid unnecessary frustration, expecially if you have no intention of playing it more than once: some things can be missed if you don't know where to look or what to do.

Yeah, Varric can become a powerhouse alright.

No idea on specs, it was in the honest trailer which means it could be BS.

It also allows you to play a female character, which is basically a requirement for me when it comes to buy a game that is even remotely a rpg.
Definitely

I made a note to myself to clean off the kitchen counter, which is unfortunately near the door so it's the place I put things when I come in (mail, gardening tools, christmas presents) so I keep running out of room when I want to make something.
I'm going to make myself do this before I play anymore.

Is there any particular class you recommend?
The pyromancer is my favourite: it starts with a set of armour and a weapon that are both pretty decent, it has the pyromancy glove and a fireball spell right off the bat, that it's quite op in the first part of the game (not to mention that having 2 attunement slots from the start is pretty handy to experiment with early spells and miracles), and the starting stats are all around good and allow for flexiblity when leveling up.
Another solid class is the warrior: good physical stats, can have an attunement slot for spells with just a level up, decent starting set of armour and both weapon and shield, starting stats allow to use most starting weapons with just a couple of points invested in them (or none at all, depending on the weapon); good if you want to go melee but still versatile enough to build the character in another direction, should you choose to.
As a close third, the cleric: the armour isn't anything to write home about, but the mace is a nice weapon, and you start with a heal spell that makes early exploration easier and mistakes more forgiving. Starting stats are directed towards the use of miracles (heal spells and such) since you have high faith, but you can always build in a different direction.
All in all, there is no "best" class: the only thing that changes is starting equipment and stats, but you can always build you character however you want; if you start as a sorcerer and decide that you don't really like casting spells, nothing stops you from putting all your points in strenght, vitality and endurance and go melee, and viceversa. You can have hybrid builds, and so on.
I do recommend either the Master key or the Old witch ring as a starting gift, though: all other items you can find or buy in the game, these two are harder to obtain. Of course, if you start as a thief, you already have the Master key as default equip, so the choice is on the Old witch ring.

Adventurers travel great distances to see the magical wonder of this clean kitchen counter, which SPARKLES.
I guess that means I can play again.
But of course! ![]()

I think I'm going to remake my Andrastean elf Cillian.
I'm having such a hard time figuring out which class to make him. Thoughts? He's going to be romancing Cass.

Now is the time for some Sera antics.
A lot of people want advanced behavior modeling and Sera is a good candidate to introduce more sophisticated behaviors w/in the core team.
Missions for Sera: (Sera can take 1 other to double loot, but player loses them for that time)
- Go shopping -about 2 hours, returns cloth and chance of a special item
- Go hunting - about 2 hours, returns leather and a chance of a special item
- Explore the camp area 20% area explored for about 1 hour, returns various loot items. Chance to return with a quest topic.
- Go mining "Care to work out your frustrations" about 2 hours, returns ore for the area.
If she takes:
- Solus the chance of fade items and runes increases,
- Viv increases enchanted/magical items
- Varric increases loot and schematics,
- Cassandra increases herb returns and various inquisition benefits
Behavior idles for Sera while waiting:
Practice with bow
Pray/meditate/daydream
Build/stoke a fire maybe cook

Rogue. Not that I'm biased or anything.
