If she wasn't Briala in disguise i would say that bioware writers needed to create a more unique character.
So Sera is just a gay a city elf, since apparently nothing set her apart from Briala ?
I recommend reading TME, great book.

What is it about this theory that Sera might be Briala in disguise?
No offense to anyone who thinks so, but it makes about as much sense to me as the theory that the Illusive Man is Armistan Banes (which we now know to be untrue).
Actually if anything she's the total opposite of Briala. The interview said that Sera is offended by the notion of doing something for the greater good. That's and Briala's whole plan with the Fen'Harelesque manipulation.
Are people still going on about that Sera-Cole thing?
...
I intended to say more, but it's been said already.
Just giving my two cents on the matter but I just read that you can choose not to recruit Cole, making him a optional companion so really IT IS a pointless discussion topic.

Also their appearance is quite different. Briala is an olive-skinned brunette whereas Sera is a light-skinned blonde.
My mind kept going back to one of my all time favorite artists, Joan Jett. However, when I went over her catalogue, there wasn't actually a lot of songs that fit the character.
Really? I mean, I'm not one to make the subtext text, but Sera is.
That's mostly city elf thing, I think. In that origin the game puts you in situation where you have to choose between either killing him or leaving your cousin along with couple other girls for a night of funny fun fun rape, which renders Vaughan's odds to live pretty low.I don't believe I have ever killed Vaughn, the game gave me no reason to do so.

And then to top it off even for the evil CEs they make him stab you in the back and take your money.
There really isn't any reason whatsoever to let him live. Even playing a douchcecanoe.

Spoiler
Yup, I get that, that's why I said it's mostly a CF thingYes, but if you're a Human Noble, he's just one dude trapped in a bad guy's dungeon who promises to help you out if you free him. I hope DA:I has more moments like that, where your experience with a group or situation depends heavily on your background.

Looks like Dorian is having a fun day.
That's actually not Dorian haha. It's one of Ymirr's Inquisitors.Looks like Dorian is having a fun day.

I hardly remember the guy, but never knew you could help the guy out, ignorant of what he's like.

I knew that. It was funny that he looks like Dorian after a week of no grooming.

Unless you spoke with Soris, who is a prisoner in the dungeons and tells you what Vaughan did. I'd also like to see certain scenarios colored by the background of the Inquisitor, since perspective can change how one views the situation.

I had my human noble murder-knife Vaughn on my first unspoiled playthrough, and not knowing what went on during the City Elf origin. There is enough dialogue in the game both with other NPCs (like Soris) and with Vaughan himself when you meet him, to piece together that he is a complete bastard.
My only regret is that you couldn't pin Vaughan's death on Loghain and Howe at the Landsmeet. After all, his corpse was in their dungeon. That could have been amusing, and useful.
So. What kind of trouble do we think Sera will get up to whilst we're trying to relax in our dragon chairs at Skyhold? I hoping our guards will have to put her on timeout in the dungeons after a few drunken debacles.
Once she teaches them all her best dirty jokes, none of the guards will be willing to lock her up. Well, except that one guard who thinks she's the next Aveline.
CHART TIME!!!
I pieced together information from all the character Q&A's with the writers.

I'm curious who she's BFFs with
She will be BFF's with me. :3
I think it's a safe presumption to make there's some sex involved. How Sera gets along with Sera is of some interest to me.
