It doesn't work. Listening to one song to counter a second one is more likely to make a third one pop into my head. I lost an entire night's sleep because of it.

 

I need to go switch to some instrumental classical. It's not as 'sticky' as other music.

The worst has to be dueling songs on your head. Or have two or more songs stuck in your head that your mind mashes together into a hybrid mess. That's when you end up with a song that is made up of Cannibal Corps vocals,  jazz trumpet replacing guitars and that really annoying pop songs beat stuck in your head replacing the rhythm section.  

 

I don't think I've quite experienced that. Fortunately most of my earworms have been things I can actually say I like. Most...

The worst has to be dueling songs on your head. Or have two or more songs stuck in your head that your mind mashes together into a hybrid mess. That's when you end up with a song that is made up of Cannibal Corps vocals,  jazz trumpet replacing guitars and that really annoying pop songs beat stuck in your head replacing the rhythm section.  

For me it's more like I get 4-5 seconds of a song and then it skips to another one for 4-5 seconds and so on and so forth. Like switching channels on the radio or TV. The number of songs varies, but it can be over a 12. Very tiring.
