Okay, I'm confused.

 

 

I think it can get a little unpleasant when people insist on looking for reasons. It doesn't matter whether the question is "she's lgbt because" or "I'm lgbt because", it's probably the wrong question. Like there has to be a reason.

 

I believe there has to be reasons for things, but looking into that question seems to lead to a lot of stupid. I want to say there has to be reason and that should be cool, but, I don't know, people.

She loves Sera lol. She even drew her. She just seems to believe that she hates men bc of that reason and that's why she's lesbian.

 

Strange what people come up with! Has the person even played the game? If so how could you not notice that Sera likes Bull and Blackwall, speaks well of Cullen, and has the best banter with Dorian?!

There are hints of dark things in Sera's past, but I was thinking more along the lines of brushes with demons and the abuse of magic, not sexual assault...

 

Also, Rickman is just an awesome bad guy, from Hans Gruber onwards. (Sorry Eirene. I know, German villain played by a Brit, but he does it well...)

 

Edit: I read the comment. There is definitely no point at which she states that she was raped by a man. That is wrong.

I saw them. I agree with the point that mods should not attempt to change the orientation given the historical persecution of lgbt people by trying to do just that so as a matter of respect mods should leave that alone. However I haven't, ever, encountered that specific dialogue with Sera. Now it's also true that Bull and Cole have been my least used chars in parties but Blackwall has gotten a fair bit of use from me. Maybe I haven't triggered it? Does it exist? Have others heard this?

Edit: I read the comment. There is definitely no point at which she states that she was raped by a man. That is wrong.

 

Her codex mentions the alienage in Denerim so I've always assumed that Sera's trauma occurred there and that her arrival in Orlais was as much a flight from bad memories of Denerim as anything else.

I can't think of anything with Bull, and with Tressa I ran with team YOLO for long enough that Dorian and Bull developed their relationship. I've barely had her out with cole, though, so I can't comment on that.

It may be worth noting that one of our two visits to the Denerim alienage involved a lord rather casually abducting elven women for what was basically organised rape*, and exactly how illegal that was is not made clear. Combine that with various assumptions our media often makes about women being victimised and I can see someone assuming that Sera was sexually abused simply because she was a poor elf woman in a city.

 

*The more I think about it the more I hate that plot.

That plot has been heavily criticised, and I'm pretty sure that at least one dev has admitted that it was misjudged. I doubt they'd return to it for Sera, especially considering that when she was in Denerim she was a kid, but yeah, maybe the artist made that leap...

I did indeed listen to all the banters with Sera, with all the companions, and she never says anything that even hints at the 'rape as backstory' trope. She never says anything about hating being touched by men either.

 

This person who made that comment is drinking a veeeeeeeeeery special brand of cool aid.
